Animals skipping around is NOT desync, that problem was happening when they were saying they would fix the AI pathing.

    I saw no skipping.

Watch the video, 1 minute in and the boars are skipping all over the place... actually watch it this time...

Your client desync'd. Nothing to do with AI pathing

Emotional Blackmail used as a marketing device...ZOMG that's never occurred before ever in the history of mankind!Granted most companies are more subtle about it and don't use the sledgehammer approach shown hear.

Also is MMORPG.com paying Starvault for the publicity?Starvault seems to be approaching Tasos levels of stupid things to say publicly.

So the AI pathing they were suppose to fix a few weeks ago was not AI pathing at all, it was desync the entire time?  So Starvault lied?

My point is, that is not desync.  Desync is when you perform an action and it happens 10 minutes later, this is AI pathing.

so your not going to answer to the obvious WoW trolling you baited this conversation with?

Please ignore him and get back on topic.

sry but when people try to use a good company as an insult I consider my question on topic get over it

WoW is a game , Blizzard is the company .

Any publicity is good pubilicity no?

    Anyhew my thoughts are

    1) Good on you(CEO) for talking frankly, i guess a lot of game producers would love to say what he is saying but cannot due to their company polices.

    2) No one take the trolls seriously and half of the trolls will play the game anyway.

    3) There is no point taking issue with posters on an Internet forum, a lot of us spout alot of uniformed nonsense anyway.

    4) Half of the people here that continously slate games, more so games that are coming from a small company like Star Vault should not really be members of MMORPG.com imho, they do not really have the best interest of the future of MMOs at heart.

    5) Sandbox games are the ones that we like to see more of, there are enough themepark games out there, so continous trolling of games/producers that are making a serious effort to get such games to market should be applauded not trolled and actually MMORPG.com should do more to help these companies and deal a bit more harshly with trolls as they promised in the their increased moderation posts.

I gave the text that matters a bold tag. I find your fourth point to have been founded without reason. If anything, people who are willing to come to message boards and spend time stating the reasons they dislike something, or the specific reasons regarding why they find a product agreeable, have the interest of the MMO industry's future closest at heart. It's the users who consistently find every MMO they're currently playing "amazing" that are causing the genre harm. We need more people to evaluate the reasons they like something, or dislike something, and this information needs to be shared publicly, much like this forum already permits. After all, these developers don't learn anything from, "Hey, your game is great!" They learn from users pointing out their mistakes, because if we aren't happy, they aren't happy, and without us, they don't have a job (or maybe they do, they just won't make very much doing it).

Want to know the only real problem with Mortal? The desync issue. They fix that , the game is fine.

Thats the one real problem with the game , the rest is just superficial.

After reading through this thread i remember why i stopped clicking mmorpg forum links. Nothing but trolls who have a) not played the game they are slagging off or b) hate it simply because its not WoW and does not pat them on the back for failing.

Thanks for illustrating my point. Anyone boiling this down to "trolls ... slagging off" isn't helping developers or the MMO genre as a whole. Rather than have a meaningful conversation, in which you try to understand the other side of the argument and discuss why both parties feel the way they do, you simply label trolls a scape goat and move along. No one here is speaking ill of the games features, we're speaking ill of the process in which they've been implemented and the quality of the product as a whole, and that's what consumers are SUPPOSED to do.

Edit: Just wanted to mention that I don't play WoW, and if you associate the MMORPG.com community with WoW in general, you're not seeing the whole picture.

yeah i know this has been said but they are all dumb...EvE  FE and DFO are all doing well sure EVE is the biggest one but FE from a indie company as well as DFO are doing great have a great community

its the shape of the game and these attitudes of the devs which make their game seem poor...games that take longer to patch then enjoy .... i generally don't like them

    Quality of the game eh....

Explain how the game is of poor quality?

My personal reasons for finding the game to be of poor quality include:

    - For days, I couldn't even launch the client. Eventually I found a fix, but it was frustrating none the less.

    - The game world is barren, aside from roaming critters. There was practically nothing to do but harvest resources.

    - PvP is uninteresting and shallow. At this moment, I still believe Darkfall is the better PvP game, while MO may hold some future potential. (fighting with real weapons, not harvesting tools)

    - The art style is inconsistent (some environments look amazing, while I find the cities and towns to be less attractive, and some animations look down right ridiculous)

    - Lag in general (this coves a varied range of issues related to latency, such as action delay and initial server connections)

My experience with the open beta was not only frustrating, but extremely boring. This is coming from a UO vet since '98, mind you, someone within the audience this game was targeted toward. I understand this is a beta, and I realize there aren't many open world, FFA PvP games still kicking, but the fact remains that I can hop over to Darkfall and have a far better experience overall. I'll also mention, I don't think the problems facing MO are going to be solved by the time they wish to release, and the arrogance of their developers and staff haven't really proven to me otherwise.

I hate tosay it ,but reading all that IRC chat, made me think MANY of the MO fanbase have no clue about game structure.

I want a server,no we want a server, heck we all want our servers. Not even the behemoth WOW had servers everywhere and people are asking SV to deliver servers world wide?please be sensible.

It also shows an absolute reason to NOT listen to people, make your game and stick with it.All i saw is we want more carebear, then others say screw the carebears ,keep it hardcore.I have an idea why doesn't SV just change the game every week to keep everyone happy?geesh again show some common sense.

I can see people asking about promised content, but don't start asking for new stuff before they even get what they promised going first.

Henrik also makes sense,he is basically telling everyone, they DON'T have the money, they are a small developer trying their best to make a game.DF had 7 years to mosey around and the game is still pretty much empty of content, the world is as barren as FE's world.

IMO there is such an easy path to follow here,if the game gathers your interest, stick it out and support them,if it doesn't DO NOT complain and ask for the game to cater to YOU,developers cannot make a game that caters to everyone,it is 100% impossible.SO far this game is still in the stage of basically being in Beta, they need more time,it is your choice to give it to them or not,but let them finish the CORE game before asking anything else.

thanx lawlmonster you illustrated my point even farther I dont play warcraft any more but the fact that my 2 earlier posts about this post directly above yours flaming WoW and using it as an insult got deleted but that post didnt get deleted or edited makes me wonder if meaningful conversation is the intention

I don't understand what you're trying to convey, here. If you think meaningful conversation isn't the real intention, you're probably right when considering the amount of players who have had problems with MO. There are many players who aren't interested, like I am, in the whole picture, or the reasons why some people find this a worthy investment and others do not. Please don't confuse anything I write with an attempt at being an ass, or otherwise unkind. That's not my intent.

Q: How long has Mortal Online been in development?

A: The concept for Mortal Online began in 2002, but the project began intense development in 2005.

"2 years of development" is not correct. You should know this as a once avid supporter of the game.

    On the Original Post...

The discussion in IRC about MMORPG.com was interesting...

The threads made by some of our... resident posters... regarding their beliefs about MO have always seemed excessive to me... and I'm certain I've seen similar posts in other forums get shut down very quickly...

    But not here.

It has... given me a bad view of MMORPG.com and I hope that it will not be worsened with time.

Henrik is from Sweden and not a native english speaker... for those of you commenting on his spelling and grammar.

    ---------

If what he says about publishers is true.... then I'll salute him for his decision to go at it alone. These waters are dangerous, and regardless of whether or not SV does manage to make it through all this... I hope it gives other developers the courage to try.
