Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Please make WAR f2p!

Guys log into WAR and look at how active T1 is due to the trial accounts.

Now imagine if the entire game was that flooded.

If EA would just make this game f2p with a similar payment model as DDO it would make those guys a lot of money.

Think about it, Make the original game content F2p, Make certain areas dungeons and SCs require a one time fee, Create new classes that require a one time fee, New mounts, dyes and stuff on the cash shop. Give players a reduced price sub option so they can avoid the F2p shop if they want to.

Seriously this game would be doing better than DDO right now even with a borked endgame.

    This suggestion makes sense 100%!

I find it hard to comprehend why they cannot see this, are they holding out in case they suddenly get a massive influx of old players, dont they know that this will never happen!

For a professional MMO company they seem pretty dim if they can't see what everyone else can see. Make it f2p or a token monthly sub to get peeps back and get it back on track. It screams out for this!

No, its in maintenance mode. Basically, they could care less about this game. But yes, it would be nice if they did tried to bring this game back up again; I would love to come back if they only improve it.

I was thinking this same thing just the other day.  The "freemium" model breathed new life into DDO and I think  that WAR would also benefit.  Optional sub that includes everything or you can pay for just the content that you want.

They need to add tons more PVE and PVE that isn't broken...catering to PVP players the first time around BROKE this game.

On the PVP side they told us over and over again....."HUGE BATTLES!!!"   WAGHHHHhhhhh   then when the huge battles came

the server melted like a marshmallow on a hot summer day.  Now to fix that they implemented the CAP number on how many players PVP in huge battles NO THANKS....

This game is very repetetive.  Taking a keep 50-100 times gets very very boring after the tenth one and if you want to get reknown good luck because you have to take keeps take flags bla bla bla....BORINGGGG

You can't use some classes because when you try to join a group for a raid they won't let you in because half of the classes ARE BROKEN still broken since day one.  So you want F2P   HA  from EA????    They are still trying to recoup losses from this monstrosity.  Once SWTOR starts making money this game is history.......gone....bye

The game is, and always has been a PvP/RvR focused game... how did catering to PvPers "break" it? Wouldnt catering to PVE players break a PvP focused game?

Theres plenty of lame carebearish PVE games out there, like WoW, so if you want good PVE go play one of them and leave the PVP games alone. Id much rather see them focus on improving the PvP/RvR side of things than wasting any time or resources on PVE. They already tried that with LOTD, and it was fun, for about 3 days.

It worked for DDO, because it's like the game was made to have that model from day one. It ended up being totally perfect for it. You are really only paying to effect your own enjoyment, as it's a total PvE game.

Now you have Warhammer, which is totally set up for PvP. The end result of making it F2P w/ cash shop.. could totally destroy what's left with the game. What's stopping them by letting people buy their gear, by buying gamebreaking items, and totally effecting everyone else's enjoyment of the game.. in a negative way... just look at fricken Allods Online for example.

I'm sorry, as much as i would like to see Warhammer get turned around, and get back on track. Their simply going up shit's creek without a paddle. If they wanted to make this game a huge success, they would've never made one of the most linear confining.. assembly line games out there.

If they could make a DDO like system work, and be perfect for Warhammer, and not ruin the game. I'll gladly eat my crow, but sadly i don't see it happening. They still have way to much worry about right now, then spend development into something that could blow up in their face.

Okay I am going to dismantle your post...before I go to bed because I'm fishing in the morning.....

First of all Focusing on PVP/RVR and leaving PVE  all BROKEN is a very good reason to piss alot of players off because some PQ quests which for the most part were PVE were required to LOCK down zones but once again...piss poor job of creating PQ quests...Mythic should of focused as much energy (which wasn't much) on PVE as they did on PVP.

On some PQ quests the triggering events were laughable you would walk up to the trigger point and nothing would happen for WEEKS at a time.   The Player VS Environment was embarassing and horrible....yah your right War should of just stayed out of PVE probably but you have to cater to both sides of the coin and people did want PVE...and after all Mythic was modeling this game after WOW ...so yah.....

See them Improving the PVP/RVR side???????????????  wow.....after 2 years and PVP/RVR is still BROKEN and Unbalanced....what you gonna do wait 2 more years??? don't worry....after EA makes money with SWTOR this games getting shut down count on it.

Now all this talk of Expansions and new content....NEW CONTENT!     Hell they've been talking about the stuff that was left out since BETA is it here yet...hell no.   The Shadow Warrior still has broken graphics...when he attacks he just stands there and the other player magically gets hit...and after 2 years can they please add the bowstring...I mean how much coding is that????  lazy lazy lazy

Mythic has no choice but to include PVE to all their games because MMO's demand it.....too bad.

I played this game since day 1 when the servers were rocking with 800,000 players.....

Once servers started crashing after huge battles and my HI-PC rig started showing WAR 1 FPS  and Bright Wizards and Sorcerers started Owning the Scenarios I knew it was over because instead of implementing changes they just stood there with a thumb up there A$$ while Ragequits were happening daily.  Oh I like their fix for the Huge battle Lag...let's CAP the end game battles to 100 players so much for the 200-300 battles that were over and over talked about before the game even came out.

The only people playing this game today are rabid fanboys on a couple of servers which I hear they are about to merge again....not surprised ( Matrix online anyone)   we all know how that turned out....

turn out the lights boys....games over enjoy Tier 1.....while you can

Well you're talking about 2 way different things. First you say it was somehow catering to PvPers that was the problem, as if they made changes to suit PvP but not PvE (even though its a PvP game), but then your response is that the issue was bugs, not anything to do with changes for PvP. Theres a huge difference there. If anything it was ATTEMPTING to cater to the PVErs that was more of an issue, because rather than focusing on fixing the RvR content quickly they did stupid stuff like coming out with the LOTD expansion, which was pretty much all PVE and brought nothing very meaningful to RvR. As far a sthe content theyve been promising since beta... where have you been? Those plans were scrapepd by the devs months ago and they said as much. Its not as if theyre continuing to promise that content and not delivering.

Anyway, i was there since day 1 too, and have come back for several months, left for several months, come back again, several times to check out the state of the game and if things have improved. overall it has gotten betetr in some ways, at least as far as fixing some major issues/bugs (though there are still a few that remain from long ago). Performance has definitely gotten better, and they have made some changes to try to improve RvR overall, but in the way it is accomplished and the rewards/incentives. There are still some balance issues, but nowhere near as bad as before (like the SH having 1 second plink + a pet vs SWs who didnt even get a 1 second EagleEye. luckily thats been changed, though it took about a year, as well as some nerfing to aoes, though IMO it wasnt done the way it should have been, but at least it helped a little bit).

The game still needs a bit of work, but its in a much better state than it was the first year it was out. The main thing hurting the game now is the major loss of players. If they were able to bring several thousand players back somehow, perhaps through the f2P method DDO had as mentioned in this post, then they would be making mor eprofit and also have more reason to keep the devs working on the game and launching new content along with fixes. DDO went through a similar state of losing major numbers due to issues, but then switching to their F2P model brought in a massive influx of players and $ and the game is in a pretty damn good state now. Same could happen for WAR. I have my own issues with the game too, and have given it bad reviews for multiple reasons, but there are also things i love about it and changing their model could possibly improve on those things. If the game is failing anyway, wouldn't it be worth at least giving it a shot with a new F2P model for like 6 months to a year and then deciding if it should keep going or not.

    Warhammer F2p would be incredible!

PvE was orrible...but you could simple skip it, i've made lvl1 to lvl 40 with two character without making a single quest, at THAT's what i like in warhammer, leaves out the damned "Bring me ten rabbit's heads and twentytwo wild board's meat"!!

WAR has never been anything else than F2P quality title.  Its to shallow - To grindy (biggest grinder of all in terms of Renown) and lacking both in content and future developed content.  All in all - this is an EA MMO that has their handywork all over it.   Thake the boxe price - then kill off the development.

Thats what SWTOR is in for.  Its MOST profitable for EA to sell the boxes and let the game then die off.  There goes the hope of a decent BIoware MMO.

I may sound a bit selfish, but i'm pretty happy with the amount of people on the Badlands server currently... and its quit a bit more than 50-100.. I speak mostly of t4 of course, but the other tiers seem to be doing pretty well, all things considered...

just need to get by this whole new weapons in the scenerio thing, so ORvR picks up again.. On a positive note, scenerios pop as fast as you can queue for them...

Happy? Do you realize T2 & t3 is virtually unplayable? Sure t1 is good due to free trials and T4 is top heavy so you have a half decent amount of people to play with but T1 and T4 isnt the entire game.

How anyone could be happy with suck a miserably low population server is beyond me.

Whats up? dont want anyone getting in the way of your tag and run pvp? Flipping keeps over and over again with no one to defend? thats a good thing?

Having Mythic cut out content is a good thing? no its freaking lame.

I'm not sure what you mean by unplayable.. At this moment Barak Var and Talabecland are both lit up on my map, with what is apparenly quite a bit of RvR... I played a T3 Engineer yesterday for a bit, and Scenerios were poping pretty consistantly...

Is that unplayable? Is it the same off peak? Probably not.. but there is little you will do about that other than experience locks...

Don't presume to know how i play my RvR, or PvP,  thanks...

No offense, but making WAR f2p would be stupid.  The game is making quite a bit of money for Mythic/EA ever since they did all those job cuts. Apparently, it is doing so well that they are planning for an expansion.  WAR doesn't need to go f2p, and besides - making everything based on micro-transactions would be frustrating and lame in my opinion.

    er... how about, NO !

They had their chance, they cocked it up.   Let it die and let its player base be absorbed into other games more worthy.

Same goes for STO,  AOC and CO....  just let them go and have a bigger population in the games that are fun to play.

WAR requires a packed server to function. Every good mechanic in the game requires a massive amount of people.

If there is no issue in T2/t3 then people wouldn't be dropping like flies.

Not everyone plays during primetime. with that said the only way to get this game back to a respectable population is through F2p. Noone is going to stick with a game that plays like a watered down single player rpg.
