I answered NO in the poll even though I STILL PLAY STO. LoL! These sorts of polls are so idiotic and far from scientific. I am guessing that most of the votes are by people that have never played STO or did exactly like I did.

You mean we should get scientific polls like the ones Cryptic uses to find out what their customers want and desire, before htey get so pissed off at the lack of content, they leave the game?
Out of 233 votes, 35 people are still playing this game. Oh I'm sorry, the number is actually 36 taking into account the person who really liked it and voted no. That makes the numbers much mroe impressive /thumbs up

Well they do have one up to vote on ambient animals for planets. Ambient animals? WTF? Cryptic really has no idea how to prioritize things. No content but hey let's work on more window dressing. This time on planets!
I see STO becoming more of a trek simulator for fans of the series than an actual mmo. Sure you can hop on a federation ship and check various planets, but when you get there, there's nothing to do other than click the 5 glowy things.

Has Jeremy ordered his flying monkeys to start quelling us too?
Played it, cancelled, sub ran out today and never going anywhere near another Cryptic game again.
same here, sure they make 'em quick... but they'd have been better off developing ONE MMO at a time... STO, for me, was done n dusted in 2 weeks casually... it was more like a single player game (not a great one) with multiplayer support (if you wanted it)

I'm just curious to see how many are left on this forum that still play this game.
I am sure you have a lot of votes from those who have never played the game. I am going to go with a lot who bought it are still playing it as it offers close to what they said they were offering along with the long beta it ran.
In what world is that? Long beta? this game had one of the shortest betas ever. Gave us what they said? Try watching the games intial annoucnment in 08 a lot of what was promised then is not even on the table anymore. There's no way you can revise this or pain a picture other then what it is. STO sucks and people are abonding it in droves. This game is a sinking ship.

Probably a reason why many quit STO was because of skill points being capped. The offer was made pretty clear that skill points would be uncapped. Customers placed pre-orders and then the offer got removed. And still the fanbois don't accept as a result that the skill tree was broken, nevermind the mis-selling that occurred.
I guessed you missed all the rage and LTSers demanding refunds over the matter.

I remember that kerfuffel, and I was one who predicted that respecs would go into the cash shop within six months. I heard they are in now, correct?

Yup, respecs are in the C-Store.
It was comical watching them adjust the cost of respecs paid using in-game Starfleet Merits for an RA5 up from 5,000 to 20,000 on the test server just to stack the odds towards players needing to eventually buy a respec from the store. It's pretty likely that players will not quite spend skill-points the best ways possible thanks to the lack of documentation on what skills actually effect, then realize it, then need to pay for a respec in the store.

Long BETA? That was probably the shortest BETA in the history of MMORPGs. Far as what Cryptic says it offers and actually does that is a matter of contention. One of their commercials shows you in the captian's chair looking at a viewscreen. You can't play this game from the captain's chair perspective. You get to beam in to your bridge and look around, but that's it. The open world economy never happened, which was promised. The Genesis system wasn't what many of us expected either. We were under the impression that this would be a random generation of new worlds to explore. What it turned out to be was a random mission generator of planets and races already seen. Many of them were similiar to each other, they would just switch "Gorn Base" to "Klingon Base." Never once was I able to intitiate first contact with a species.

The SHORT OB was one of the key factors for why I didnt purchase STO, having a chance to play in OB sealed the deal. You can pretty much assume that a game that has a 3 week OB is not likely going to be very successful as that is simply not nearly enough time to get feedback and sufficient testing in and make changes based on that feedback. OB should be a minimum of about 2 months. One of the only games that got away with a short OB was AIon but thats because it was simply a translated pre-existing game.

Woah really? One of the huge selling points for the game was that you could make first contact with new races and even recruit a member of that race as a bridge officer! I knew the stuptid Genesis System would be crap, I just never knew how crappy it would be...
Never will play again, I hope some other developer get the chance, on a dream world maybe, of someday building a new Star Trek MMO,
otherwise, I'd rather play Star Wars... Give those guys a clap for ruining one of the best and deep content inside a game... Yah, cause thats kind of hard to do actually!
"You know, this place makes me wonder. Which would be worse, to live as a monster or to die as a good man?"
I know its petty and immature but I really wish I could go back to the sto forums and tell them all I was right. They all called me a doomsayer and troll b ut I was dead ritght with my predictions. I told them pre existing engine or not cryptic cant make a decent mmo in 2 years. This beta period is too short and on and on and on. I told them the game wont recover from a bad launch and look where we are now. I was right all along.

Nope bridge officers were assigned to you. At least that is how it was up to the Captain's rank. I didn't make it past that point. The Genesis system wasn't bad until you started to realize that you were playing the same missions over again with different species. I didn't really think about it until I typed that up, but that is probably another reason the game got boring for me. The clusters were areas of space that you were told needed "exploring" but then you would come to the planet and deliver supplies or fight off enemy ships like as if you had met those people before. Never once did I say "I am Captain X from the United Federation of Planets......"
Played beta, quit, and to get over it cut off my thumbs in atrition for playing another cryptic game. The only way I will ever go back or play another cryptic game is if someone props my corpse in front of a computer and it happens to be running.

This IP should be given to bioware, or valve, or my retarded uncle lester. Shit, anyone but Atari/Cryptic. I know mmorpg is full of hate in alot of areas for gaming, but honestly, Craptic deserves what they get, and unfortunatly get alot more than they deserve. Sorry. Dental surgery today. Little percocet'd out. Not sure if that made sense.

Bioware had the license I dont think they care much abotu it anymore. But ya Im on board with the sentiment that cryptic shouldn't be let anywhere near DnD or any other game for that matter.

Not anymore! It's just sad how little was made with such a promising concept.
Nevermind Cryptic's business practices (in STO and CO), which have entirely cured me of any desires to ever give them my money again.
(/me crosses fingers and hopes these folks keep their dirty paws away from the Cthulhu universe)

still play here
ships and uniforms and graphics are well done
never played an mmo so i am not sure about mmo stuff
i started four times over because the first two i did not know what was what
the third i went a specific weapon route for the hell of it and the final i went back to phasers
made it to Commander on one and now am luitenent again with all other characters deleted
i think it has been a little over a month. a month is a pretty long time- if i get a few more then it is worth it
and this is without a viewscreen or bridge tthat does anything, over sights that are absurd beyond absurdity
