You do realise that the people who made these franchise amazing are long gone and are not working for Blizzard anymore!
I won't be buying SC2 as I won't support Activision Blizzard.
I'm sure a lot of rational people don't really care given that the original crew, or fragments of it, does not automatically make an amazing game regardless of where they are situated, especially those with a memory of Hellgate: London.
No I dont plan to buy it as I dont see much difference between this and the prequel. Blizzard is really starting to become like Microsoft, instead of like Google.
By that I mean that instead of being innovative and coming up with new ideas they take the same concepts and package it in new shiny package and add in some bells and whistles.

Not only to Flagship, but also to ArenaNet, which has a good line up with GW and GW2, and a large group went from Flagship and Hellgate: London to making Torchlight.
But you're right, in the end it's the games they produce that matter. Activision Blizzard poured a lot of money into making SC2, so I'm expecting it to be a valid e-sports successor of SC, especially after the beta games reports.
I'm still wondering though if SC2 manages to surpass SC and Brood War in its storytelling. Would like to hear more of that from players who have played both.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
The RTS games reach back into a past that is older than Dune II which i played massively as well as C&C and many others...
But i never liked Warcraft so much and even less Starcraft so SC2 its not a thing that matters to me.
For Blizzard games i only will take a look at Diablo 3 if its hopefully good fun!
In the meantime i will take a look a GOG and buy UFO-Afterlight or Fallout or whatever i have a mood for. In fact i played Master of Orion 2 recently its still the best of the 4x games and wait for more Hearts of Iron 3 mods and patches which is a real strategy game.
And i want Civ5 !!!
"Torquemada... do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada... do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada... do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada anything!"
800,000 pre-orders, addin the day-0 purchases and I would bet 1million sales, add in the EU and SEA reagons and I would say we are looking at 2.5million day-0 sales. Not bad for a PC game.
BTW my postman trap just went off, Installing SC2 now.. yippy.
I might have picked it up for 20-30 bucks but as it won't be that price until long after people care about this game I probably won't be bothering with this one.
It is big news, so I dont mind an article about it here, providing they dont start listing it and reviewing it.
I know there is hate toward Blizzard, I suppose I have some of that hate as well but its only in principle, never really experienced anything to build on that. To their Credit Blizzard has transformed the gaming scene over the decade and I wish them all the best with their SC2 release.
However, I dont think there is anyone that doesnt already know that SC was WAY more popular in the Far East, and nearly as strong a following in EU too.
so the question has to be begged, why no information released about these two other areas? Maybe the 800k from America is the largest number they found?
And while we are off topic (since topics should be MMO's) I'll be playing the Natural Selection 2 Alpha thats just released on Steam (if you order the special edition) This game to me has been about the same time coming as SC2.
I'd like to point out to the people slamming SC2 for being 'the same game but pritter' that C&C hasbeen doing the same stunt for ages now between that and RA nothing really changed in any of their games besides a handfull of new units and the odd new co-op modes here and there and even they have been the same price (in the UK at least) as SC2 is, the only REAL changes came with C&C4 and thats been marked as the unfavoured C&C title of all time..
Excluding expantions this is really only Blizzard's 5th RTS in it's whole run, to be blunt many people are only slamming it purly 'because it's Blizzard', and they got burnt by WoW, outside of WoW itself Blizzard have made some great games, I'm hoping with SC2 and Diablo 3, between a huge gap with just WoW as the focus and all the staff changes, the games I loved in the past still are just as good in the present.

SO true......this is also the reason i didnt buy it.
They give you.....what?.....5 new units per race and put it all in a shiny new engine and call this innovating new gaming exp.
As for the storyline.....that is awesome i must admit.....i'll see it on youtube without having to buy the game.
and one other thing......try to play a game against one of the prof. korean guys in starcraft and you wont even start to build up something b4 they just PWN your @ss.
casual gaming seems to be over these days......only the l33ts get to have fun.
don't understand the appeal. played beta for a while and it was the same game with updated graphics, more or less. why the excitement? Yay I may have to pay for a battle.net subscription soon?
Was surprised to see how competitive the community was however. Unfortunately it isn't too noob-friendly for those who never played the first starcraft. You end up playing against people who watch demos of other players play for hours on end....who the hell has the time for that?
I'm afraid I would have to side with the folks who thinks this doesn't belong here. MMORPG.com talking about a RTS is fish out of water. I might read a review on it here but I wouldn't take it very seriously -- I'd go elsewhere for that.
It's 50 pounds if you buy a digital copy from their website which is very expensive, so I will most likely wait till the price drops a bit. Although it's 35 on amazon. I am sure it will be 20-25 in no time :P
That's why mmorpg site has other threads in their forum. So people can discuss games other than mmos. Do people ever think before they post? Get a clue!

You don't see any other products being advertised or reviewed on here. I can't even name another non-MMO shown on this site in months.

Yep, there's no bias there.
That's not true. Non-MMOs make appearancess on this site all the time. First and foremost, Guild Wars and many other lobby based games (Clone Wars, new Marvel superhero kiddie game, etc.) are listed under the games section and have articles written about them. During E3 time, Bethesda's new co-op RPG title Hunted was shown on here. And most recently when Studio 38's Mercury was unveiled as Kingdoms of Amalur there was an article, if not 2, about that as well. While this site largely focuses on MMOs, it also provides articles that it feels will be of interest to its readers, are loosely connected to MMOs (in this case, Blizzard, WoW, etc.), or that they feel are newsworthy (800,000 preorders of a videogame is pretty monumental). So, based on all those examples, and the many more I'm sure others can provide to you, no there's no bias there.
sorry about blank. above, ok what i am not concerned with is this game so much but the following game blizzard releases. I am not trying to get up false hopes or spread too many rumors but after many hours of searching someone that went to blizz con said that it was announced that Diablo 3 would release after starcract 2 and before its expansion pack. So what I am saying is this is the mile stone to let me know now. and I am waiting for diablo 3 as of now.

I can't wait for someone to say "Damn! That's heavy!"
Serious question. Have you played the beta? There is no micromanagement to speak of in terms of the micro you're capable of in SC1. Moving shot accounts for a ton of micro in SC1 but since moving shot isn't in SC2...
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
What Oobe said + it has to be MMO or at least Co-op (like L4D) for me to be interested. (Don't know if SC2 is) Also 3D is overrated, what's wrong with a nice 2D game in which you dont need to orient or navigate yourself the whole time ? (which is actually more relaxing after a long day at work).

Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
Not going to buy it.
I'm under the assumption this is a fast dynamic game and I'm more of a builder then an action RTS player.
Also can't be bothered by Battlenet or whatever it's called, I have Steam which is enough for me.
I am off course going to check it out by getting a torrent.
