Yup and they're normally wrong just like they were with Aion, Warhammer and Age of Conan...oh wait...

It seems to be bothering you that people disagree with you.  I still play AoC and enjoy it so, yes, imo they were wrong.

Right, because it was a WONDERFUL game at launch.

All three of those games launched with major issues, they've all made strides to correct them and are all halfway respectable now, but the doom threads still were mostly correct when it came to launch.

mmk, now your argument is that it's just going to be a bad launch?  I initially got the impression that you were saying it was gonna be a bad game in general.  Try explaining your point without the attempts at sarcasm.

Hmmm thats a pretty even split on the poll....

voted no as i think this one system is simply stupid

i would like to say "absolutely not" but if open beta is truly open and i get to try the game out and i enjoy myself..................

hopefully this gets removed before release or shortly thereafter - seems unlikely as it reads like a lot of effort went into this

Canceled my CE pre-order.  I am not comfortable with how SE has handled issues and concerns the playerbase has had with FFXIV to the point they practically blamed the players instead of themselves.  This isnt a company who's game I want to play because I can tell you now that wont get any better.  Aside from that I am also not happy with UI, controls and a few other things that I really thought they would of fixed or done a better job with by now.

    I'm not canceling my preorder.

That said SE seems pretty clueless about PR.  There's many ways they could have presented recent mechanics announcements (and implemented the mechanics themselves) without the appearing of bludgeoning their playerbase about the head and shoulders.

I don't expect a very smooth or succesful launch, and to be honest, the only reason I'm still getting this game on day 1 is because I'm betting based on their previous record with FFXI that this will grow into a solid, successful MMO that holds a lot of long-term gameplay value.  I've noticed that simply being there on day 1 is huge in these kinds of games - sure you can always catch up if you join later, but you'll end up missing (or at least not experiencing in its full glory) a lot of 'old' content just because it's old, even within the context of the same expansion (launch in this case).  Besides, if it doesn't work out, there's always GW2 which also looks promising.

Also, I learned long ago not put much stock in hype, either way.  I've seen games get hyped to the moon and back only to fail to live up to expectations, and some of my favorite MMOs over the years (EvE and LOTRO) aren't liked by the majority of people who play them.  So, I play for myself, and make my own decisions.

Se isnt going to leave something in thats going to make everyone quit

I am going to pass on this one.  I enjoyed FFXI, but the beta did absolutely nothing to inspire any sort of desire to want to play the game at launch.

internet trolls flipping out over blind statements made about a game theyve never played, o god, end of days, o wait, its just a troll feeding frenzy.

good lord, get over yourselves, if you havent played the game then you dont know how it plays, just like all the people going around trolling you when they havent played it either.  every time something new is coming out its all the same bs around here.

    Yeah, exactly.

FUCK SOMEONE FOR WANTING TO PAY FOR A GAME AND ENJOY IT HOW THEY WISH TO!

What were those dumb shits thinking? Wanting to play a RPG with a group of other players and specializing in a role? Don't they know there's other classes!? What fucking idiots they are. How dare they choose 'one' way to play when they have to choose many!? What kind of choice is that when they have the forced choice of being everything?! Why would they expect end game content to be thoughtful boss fights and maze like puzzles that require a coordinated effort with friends and colleagues? When they can level up using an axe for 2 hours or so, and then go craft for 2 hours or so (despite the fact it looks like to get any progression done whilst crafting it'd easily take 4), and then they can go skin all the bodies of the sheep laid strewn about by the noobs who are switching classes every 30 minutes and therefor limiting all of that EXTRA FREE LOVE xp bonus so thoughtfully granted to them by SE designers and therefore not being hindered what so ever.

    The point's made.

This game is savable if the fanbois would just ask SE to remove some of the dumb ass mechanics in place.

I dont think you understand the system well, in fact anyone still saying they wont play becouse they cant grind 10 straight( yes is exp based , not time based, they calculated you loose bonus when you have been grinding more or less for 8h straight, most of us wouldnt achive that kind of exp on 10h+)should reconsider playing a a mmo, is not healthy to grind for that long no stop. And only those people are the ones who will see the surplus cap.

Hardcore complain- i cant powerlv. But again your gonna be max lv w-o stoping to gear up/geting the skills you need ? This is not hardcore, this are idiots who only hinders party play.I dont whant leachers in my party,or my game, is that simple, so dont say hardcores are screwd, powerleveling without the proper gear/skills is not hardcore.

Casuals shouldnt be worried , now that the system is fully explained, you can grind for 8h+ without hiting faitgue, log of and the next day it will be partially restored or fully restored so you can repeat the same if you wishes to.

This all misfix and comunity stir is SE fault for not doing what they did today since day one.Explain it correctly on BETA FORUMS.The guy was at gamescon , so o well . If people still dont belive me then wait till open beta and see the game for yourself. You should be concerned about UI/lag/party play and not this stupid thin that does not hinders anyone but the people w-o a life.Been saying since day one you all are over reacting over this.

If you still want to bitch about it, then for the love of god just gtfo, we dont whant you on our game.

Hahaha... the point is. they FORCE you to play like they want you to. Why am I FORCED to play another class then the class i want to play. Why am I FORCED to stop progressing in my physical level because I play longer then other.

Hardcore or not, I don't give a fuck. The point is SE is FORCING you to do something you may not want to do. Aka bullshit. You're paying to play the game, you should enjoy it like YOU want not how THEY want.

Saying GTFO when your point isn't working is just showing you're going out of idea. lmao, so just GTFO yourself.

Hmmm somehow that last statement is totally stupid? It is like  I would say THEY FORCE ME TO PLAY AS IN A RPG BUT I WANT TO PLAY LIKE IN A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER!!!!!1111 I mean serious it sounds just childish. Oh and I did not saw SE last time around with pointing Guns at people and FORCE!"!!! them to buy it.

Agree 100%. This forum has descended to a new low with one pointless thread after the other, each telling us how this or that game sucks and how its the worst piece of junk ever released. Every new game will have it's faults. Give it a chance to get released, play it for a few months then decide.

I'm hoping it will be a fun game that will entertain me for a while, but it might not be. If it's not I'll move on to the next, NOT troll and take it out on other people who might still enjoy it.

    Added..

I do think this forum needs to be more heavily moderated so we're not faced with such a large amount of duplicate pointless posts.

This is the winning post. This game feels like its made for people who dont work or dont go to school or something. It literally feels like work.

However, the funniest complaint I have is the fact it's menu driven, yet has the slowest, most unintuitive UI I have ever deal with in a MMO. You'd think for a game based around using menus that it would be the BEST UI we have ever seen. As I said on the GW2 board, its really hard to read/watch GW2 stuff and think that FF14 is better in ANY aspect.

And before someone says it, I am not a troll or a GW2 fanboy. I didnt even play GW or FF11, so my opinion is totally neutral. Hell, leading into the beta, I had a CE of this pre-ordered. But there is absolutely NO reason why I should try to open my map and get an error, or add a skill to my action bar and it takes 5 seconds, or do a number of other menu driven BS and it either error out or take forever to load. Oh, and another fav, recipes are not in the game, so if you play full screen and minimize out to look one up, crash! Woot! I have played many betas, and having these type of issues less than a month away from release is beyond discouraging. It needs at least 6 more months of development. When will these companies understand that the reason why Blizzard dominates so much is when they a game/expansion, it freakin works. Thats it! Thats the mystery behind their success. I mean, does anyone question if Diablo 3 will be good or not? Hell no.

I'm just going to say this, everything that was used in closed beta was being tested and wasn't the definite UI of choice. SE was using a bunch of different UIs in different phases, I didn't play in Alpha so I could remark on the UI used there. Not mention you were playing in closed beta, this is for bug fixing purposes. If you had a bug it was up to you to report it to SE :P Anyshwayze, I'm just gonna say that I had none of these errors, and I had an extremely fun beta experience. I actually just today ordered the CE edition of the game due to my experience in FFXIV. I thought it was tremendous fun. Although I will be playing GW2 as well. :)

Yes, Because I like trying new things and supporting games companies that try to do different things and honestly I don't see it as that much of a problem.

Also, I'm a PVE player the fact there is no focus on PVP to ruin the balance of PVE is great for me.

Ill give it a shot sometime next year once all the glitches, bugs, hacks, spammers, bannings, content issues, depopulation, and inflation take place.

Anyone who has played an mmo from the beginning knows exactly what its like that first year...pure utter chaos. With very few exceptions.

I think giving this game until around April of next year to even out and get stabilized  in the mmo scene is the best course of action currently.

I can already see the huge influx of thousands and thousands even millions of players to the game the first 1-2 months...then  6 months later... less than 1/3rd of the total population is left for various reasons...right after that comes the waves of account hacking posts, and unjustly banned posts...and blah blah blah...Iv had enough. I'm waiting until mid next year.

The problem with waiting 6 months for the game to settle into it's own is that crafting plays a huge role. I have a feeling that most of the money will be made right at the start of the game as was the case with XI. I'm sure shells/guilds will be monopolizing as many resources as possible early on. This is also why i wish SE would wait until PS3 release and do a simultaneous launch.

It's not time based, it's based on thesholds or as other mmos may call them bubbles...

  • DeostDeost Member Posts: 18

I played beta - and with the current B3 changes - the combat system *did* become much faster then 2. If it had stayed B2? I wouldn't have pre-ordered it.

There is one thing I can say for fatigue. I don't really agree with the principle of it, but it's still there.

It's also not a 'timed' system like many people think. It's not 8 hours. It's a calculation based on what you would get if you *did* grind for 8 hours nonstop. It's not 200% XP either. It's just what I call - frontloaded XP. Meaning you get the same amount of XP you would if you sat for 8 hours kinda upfront.

That being said - the people who want to play just ONE class to the exclusion of all others? It's not really a game you *can* do that in. That and it's not very efficient to do that, either. It's better to level up them all so you can pick and choose really good skills from other classes.

Also : I played about 5-6 hours a day during B3 when the XP was higher then the beta before that.

I never saw the surplus XP on Class or Physical Class. It recharges when you're not playing (aka RL), and when you're not leveling up a class. So honestly? If they relax the system even more? I doubt many people are going to see it.

Unless they play 18 hours a day.

The only other problems it has - the UI, Buying/Selling - might put people off. I'm still going "Eh, AH pls! Kthnx"

but the combat system along with the ability to pick and choose your skills and equip the skills you want? Major thumbs up.

I don't know of any other game so far where you can level up ALL classes on one char AND pick and choose skills from ANY of them. (Save the Class-Only skills.)

That and you can reassign your stats?

    Hello custom gameplay. :)

Still - I don't like fatigue and I'm sure at some point they'l axe it. Cause I do believe it's there right now so everyone doesnt' rush rush rush to end. I'm not naive.

    But after all the pros/cons?

I've not canceled my preorder cause I like PvE games. I like crafter-centric economies, too.

If SE doesn't fix some of the flaws in the game? I probably won't play for an extended period of time, tho.
