Sweet. OBT starts on my birthday!
All I can say is it's time to go hunt for a download....

Excited to get a chance to play beta. I hope it goes smoothly.. most of my beta experiences have not.. but then it's beta so i can't complain.
I know, looks good doesn't it? I just keep watching my email for an invite to this last beta! Didn't get an invite all summer so fingers crossed.

This game so far looks very, very stale. The environment and the combat.
considering theres only like 500 million final fantasy fans out there?
theres no need for bunny hopping, i know you can make bunny girls but really, they dont need to hop
500 million? What you been smoking? I'm guessing it;s an exaggeration buy even then that's too far.
lol since when have you seen a single ff game come out with the ability to jump other than a lancer's ability?
And the number is as accurate as it needs to be for the purpose of the statement.
So many ff fans that they dont need a different playerbase.
mmos are different and have different standards that the ff series just doesn't live up to.
This is one of the games that i've had my eye on, so i'm very anxious to get the chance to try things out with this "open beta" to see if it's worth pre-ordering...
It's true, FF fans (not all of course) will play this game and really... that's all they need to be a success... FFXI has remained a quite but going strong MMO. FFXIV is guarenteed to be a success.. it might not be as popular over here as it will be in Japan and Korea and what not... but it'll do just dandy.
That should really read as "mmos are different and have different standards that the ff series doesn't conform to". Many of us are extremely glad to see an MMO that doesn't really follow any of the rules of the 'popular' MMOs. Also given the popularity of the franchise I think it's quite obvious how untrue your statement is.
500k players on an 8 year old mmo disagree with you.
Square, particularly FF, has been setting the rpg video game standard for a quarter of a century. As far as mmorpgs go, FFXI set the standard for me, and nothing has come very close to that standard since. Of course, it's all subjective though.
Anyway, I just hope that FFXIV isn't too much of a deviation from the things that made FFXI great. Most of those things happen to be "unconventional" in the mmo market, to me.
Adding further to this...here are solid facts and proof ~ FFXI Vana'diel Census
If my memory serves me correctly from FFXI, one would need a controller to best sample this game. Which one would I want to purchase to get the full effect... and possibly turn me into a believer?
almost no one in the US cares. I imagine most posters here are from the west. I'm sorry but I think it's valid. I don't care if there's a claimed 500k accounts, it's an impossible thing to verify and ff11 just isn't even on the map. Warhammer online was more popular in the US.
You can play both FFXI and FFXIV completely with just the Keyboard too and never touching the Mouse. I did it for 4 years in FFXI, and thus far several months in FFXIV, and it works very well...
Impossible to verify oh? I guess you haven't ever heard of having to release reports to share holders?
"No one in the US cares" now there is no way to verify this :P use facts please sir. I sense a hint of elitism in your "If it isn't liked in the US its crap" post, are people in other countries not human?
idiots..
This beta isn't "BETA" this is the build they pretty much plan to release.
In fact BETA wasn't BETA they listened to absolutely NOTHING any of us had to say.
Of the thousands and thousands of posts on multiple issues many beta testers had with the game, all they saw was that we wanted more mouse control. Stated in and interview where SE procclaimed that 90% of all feedback had to do with the mouse. Which was a god damned bold faced lie.
So if it's shit, yes you CAN complain.
and by the way.. quoteing the vana diel census means nothing..
If we're going to gop that route with only 500k subscriptions (yeah right) we can then say that World of Warcraft is the best game ever developed with it's 12 million?
No, we can't in fact most people here will probably aggree that WoW is really in terms of design a terrible game.
You say vanadiel census is a bad source then try to use MMORPG.com as your own? I may have just discovered the meaning of irony.
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they issue you the census survey once a year when you actually log into your game account?
( I can't remember because It's been a while since I played XI )
If that is the way they do, then it's a fairly accurate system to counting active subs.
well happy bday I hope to get a crack at the OB myself to see what the fuss is all about. once again, enjoy ya Birthday
