TBF it's not really they're fault. Rift's "info" is pretty hard to find unless your a dedicated fan of the game and there really isn't that much info around on the game in the first place.
I only know what it entails through a moderately large period of reading through of the recent news coming out of the game.
I think Rift's low amount PR is also a contributing factor aswell.
Guild Wars 2: A sequel to an already succesful MMO, with huge fanbase.
Rift, Telara and whatever else: New MMOs.

I think there is some fanboi coming out, and I am no different. I find both games interesting and presently there isnt one thing that decidedly turns me off about each game.
Maybe when I get around to it I will gather 2 of the best gameplay videos from each of the big 3 and see what people think. At the moment for me, I am leaning towards RIFT 1st and then GW2 2nd with SWTOR coming in at third. PvP being the biggest reason Star Wars fell to third. They all look like Solid games though, I cant out right knock any of them. Its going to be interesting to see how everything plays out.
seriosly rift and terra gona be new fails gw 2 is the future since offer beter game play grafics events and is not sub game im playing gw 1 4 years now still love it that means something and the game is realy good suported
McDonald's has tens of millions of customers every year. Five Guys is starting to get into the hundreds of thousands of customers every year.
Both are successful. But you go to Five Guys if you want a good hamburger. You go to McDonald's out of convenience or because of the children who keep seeing the commercials (not so subtle hint).
FYI I would be careful how anyone else responds to this thread. Apparantly carefully worded quips are now considered flaming and this thread is a decoy car. Amazing .. considering the depth of the orginal post.

There is actually quite a bit of info on Rift if you bother to look but it would seem that a lot of people have already made up their minds and refuse to acknowledge any other game. Ill leave it at that since i got a temp ban for my last comment in this thread
That's a bit insulting tbh. I may not know as much as YOU, but I know enough to know that it has elfs, swords and magicians...that's enough to turn my stomach. It's simply more of the same in a different area. Seriously...the market is FLOODED with D&D style games mate...enough that if I WERE to buy one, I'd stick with one with a reputation like GW2.
If by some miracle this game does survive, more power to them. But they picked a VERY VERY difficult niche to develop for IMO.

Ah, now there's the key point, if we bother to look. There's dozen's of games out there on the way, why would we bother to look them up?
No, adverstising/promotion doesn't work that way, is up to the developers of Rift to properly promote/hype their game to get us interested enough to look it up, which so far hasn't happened in my case.
GW2 comes with a built in reputation. While I didn't care for the first one that much, there was much to like and if GW2 takes what was good and improves upon it then I can see myself giving it a try.
Meanwhile Rift is what, yet another Asian Fantasy Grinder? Yeah, you're right, I have no clue, nor do I really care.

Some bother to look so they know what options are available to them to give them the best informed decision when they choose a game to play. Others choose to look to be informed even though they have already committed to another game there are many reasons to look into games that are comming up to see features offered gameplay options class options and combinationa the list goes on. I would say it is a bit close minded to not look into what other games have to offer but it does not suprise me that you would post something like this. You have in every post you have made, made some reference to Eve which is your obvious game of choice more power to you.
But then when you are posting in yet another thread dedicated to the Rift vs GW2 you have knowledge of only one side and could care less about the other but somehow argue that your side is best with no knowledge of the other. Just saying that for arguements sake you may want to look at the features offered by the game that you could care less about but the entire thread is based on.
Personally I have seen a lot about Rift and really don't care for it. Outside of the dynamic rift events I don't see a lot that they are doing differently that would draw my attention away from other titles. Also I am pretty disappointed with the zone design of planes. It is a rehash of a ton of games that came before: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Life, and Death.
After doing research on both, and given the information available about each game, GW2 coming out on top really is a no-brainer. The game looks pretty amazing. My family and I (about 15 of us that play MMOs together) are all going to play GW2 at release. Can't wait!

I didnt say all of the posters dont have a clue. If I did that would include you unless you are admitting you dont have a clue and are insulted that I would point that out. Only you can say.
Speaking of insulting, dont act like GW2 isnt a D&D game. Just because your classes look like elves and have another name doesnt mean it isnt fantasy or D&D. Just because GW2 doesnt have the trinity doesnt make it any less an mmo or D&D. Btw that was a stupid decision on there part. Hey maybe while they are at it, they can get rid of tanks and ranged dps. Then that would make them that much more innovative right?
A very difficult niche? GW2, for once I might add, is a mmo as is RIFT. The only thing that makes it any easier for arenanet is the fact they already have a following. GW2s following aside, Arenanet and TRION are on even footing.
RIft, out of all of these, has easily the best graphics. Most of the vids youve seen dont give it justice. They also said that you will be able to play with a PC from 2003, which is great.
Most people here dont know much about Rift, and you said only 3000 facebook fans, theres around 25k registerd users on the official site. On top of that, they havnt started advertising at all yet, they mentioned in a podcast that they will be starting to hype it shortly.
IMO - SWTOR will do poorly, the overall presentation of the game isnt great, graphics are average, gameplay is too single-player based for an MMO. GL bioware.

Never thought there would come a day when the gaming public would judge games based on their facebook following.

I hope they are both good games, but I think they will be a letdown just like all before them.
TOR has over 150k followers on facebook, so what is the point of this?
I guess rift is not being as hyped up as these two games are.

because everybody but you OP already knows that Rift is another Age of Conan in potence
the odds of Rift hilariously yet dramatically failing HARD are 10000 to 1

Actually, its because hardly nobody knows about Rift, there has hardly been any hype. Dont worry though, they are about to start hyping it
