    Finally, a release date! image

    I'll be back!

  • J0K3R_3DJ0K3R_3D Member Posts: 82

Wow ... thats much later than I expected. I was expecting a release date announcment any day now but for like a  month from now. beginning of November most likely. Hell I wouldve expected late October before I said December, lol. Oh well ... I guess I can forget about any raiding being done from now on. Once again, I missed out :( Oh well, time to focus on my Priest and Warlock now.

Cant wait to try out my new Pally Cow. Also my Dwarf Rogue is going Worgen as soon as they allow it, lol.

Good lord!!  Then don't buy it!

I actually played WotLK for 2 months a few months back, only to quit again when the Cata info started leaking out. This has to be one of the poorest excuses for an 'expansion' in a long time. It's just a bigger content patch that adds a few dungeons, 5 levels as an excuse to get people to restart the gear grind, and a bunch of low level quest updates. They got such a big budget to spend on WoW and they come up with this.

Not to mention it costs almost as much as a full game... No thanks.

I definitely think its too expensive. I mean The original WoW with the entire 1-60 content was $50! Yet BC and Wrath which introduced a fraction of that ( couple races? one class? <10 zones?) retailed for almost as much as the entire game! Im pretty sure expansions used to be $20 tops.

But thats capitalism. People are going to buy it anyway and Blizzard knows this. Players will take it right up the tail pipe, enjoy it, then tell you to "stfu, dont play if you dont like the price" in between their moans. May as well join them.

Most of the game changes are going to be available soon. However there is going to be a great storyline for high levels and eventually some new raids so I would plan on getting it.

I'm playing the Beta also. I have gotten my Mage to 85 on it, and started a new character. The new 1-60 content is great and so is 80-85. GREAT dungeons with actual CC content. Best improvements yet!

I've heard 60 -70 raid content is being dumped.  I was hoping they would re-integrate that content at 85 in some way.  I've done no research on this but does anyone know whats happening in that regard.

Boxed Expansions have never been $20 tops ;P  Some of the digital only have been - but they've been the exception and not the norm as far as expansions go.  Never really understood the crying over price anyways.  If you don't think it's worth it, don't pay it.  Coming here to moan about it does absolutely nothing - but then - what would the MMORPG boards BE then - since pretty much all they are now is a cesspool :D!

40$ seems a bit much for an expansion, but they are reworking a lot of old content. 80$ for CE is too much for an in-game vanity pet, a mouse pad, a musical CD, few cards of their trading card game, a book and a 'Making of' DVD. I wouldn't buy it.

I think they are getting a bit greedy since Burning Crusade with fewer End Game content and no major dazzling dungeons even though they raked a lot of cash with their subscriptions, vanity items, account services and tournament fees. Hopefully 2011 will bring some decent competition... Real competition, not half baked games like we've been seeing since 2008...

I agree the collectors edition if anything should geta  deathwing inspired one. if not both versions taht would be amazing and help reduced the nuber of ppl getting hacked. if you have cata and get hacked you'd be only one to blame then.

If I read it correctly, recreating Azeroth is almost like a whole new game so the price tag is warranted.

I really admire Blizzard, replacing old contents with new so it is again fresh and fun, this is pretty bold and quite revolutionary move in MMO world. Other publishers would be too afraid to remove anything as they are trying to squeeze out last penny out of every precious texture they make long after it payed out.

Actually both expansions prior to be reduced, retail price was 39.99 until they went down (after X amount of time) also they now have A WoW battlechest. http://us.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=110000044

Now I quit WoW after WoTLK got super boring (after grinding heroics and raids, just to do it again weekly) and I played WoW for atleast 5 years, and so far Cataclysm doesn't seem all that. But its cool to see Azeroth is gonna get wrecked. If WoW became Vanilla WoW, I'd be back in a heartbeat.

Shouldnt the title be: World of Warcraft - Cataclysm OUTDated?

if no one bought the expansion because they were against the 40$ price tag, well then it would be cheapter.  But peopole are buying it so they will charge that price and make money all day long.  The only way to win is to boycott, but getting the masses to do that never happens anymore.

    Momo sucks, I have proof.

The low level quest updates you are referring to are available to anyone whether you buy Cata or not. That means all the lvl 1-60 content updates are free.

They are also releasing more new raid content then TBC and WotLK had at release and those both made records sales...at $39.99 each.

The one big difference that I can see that people keep getting hung up on is 5 lvls vs 10 lvls. If it takes you one week to progress 10 levels in LK and one week to progress 5 levels in Cata, are you really missing out on anything? They've already said that those 5 lvls will feel slower than what players are used to because they cover so much content.

Awesome, I am definitely buying it.

And finally, the game costs less in the UK than it does in the US. It's only £17.91 on Amazon as opposed to $39.90 (evil grin) :P

Edit: Damn, just bought it. I just have this urge to buy everything Blizzard releases. I hate you Blizzard.

A new Battle Chest has not been announced yet . . .

The current one is on "sale" at Amazon for $29.99, and Wrath is also on sale for $29.99 - meaning a completely new player who wants to get "all-in" will be paying roughly $100

  • anielianieli Member Posts: 114

I doubt they will release a new one before the launch of Cataclysm. I think it may even be well into the expansion because I don't think they want a lot of new players when most of their old players are coming back for the expansion. Imagine the strain on the servers.

New players don't need to buy wotlk or cata before level 70. It will take them at least a month, maybe 2-3 to get to 70 where they would eventually need those two :P

+ you can buy wrath + classic + tbc + cata for 50 pounds on amazon now. Compare that to Starcraft which was 45 pounds in their store. (35 on amazon though)

Cataclysm Dated thats either a clever play on words or a Freudian slip lol

For me it will be the first Warcraft expansion I wont be buying . Unless of course they get rid of that awful cross server looking for a group system if that remains in place nothing about this game will improve . Its still be mostly centred on the citys and a dead game world once players go through the new content once or twice . In WoW these days that means leveling from 1-85 within a month maybe less .
