Odd, since the fanboy's said people like me were trolling and most of these issues weren't that bad. And by people like me, I mean people who had pre-ordered the game with hopes it would be at least decent, and then jumped off the sinking ship before launch. Every other MMO I have ever CHOSEN to play I was entertained for at minimum a month or two. FF14 had me bored from the first moment til the last day I tried. It was just... so... BORING...
Ehhh... I haven't seen any fanboi's on this forum. Only people who knew the game would have a shit ton of problems but decided to play anyways.

You've not been paying much attention then. There is a limited number, which is declining, but they stand out.
My only problem with the game is there is no AH(I heard it's coming, so good) and the slow animation of crafting and the menu boxes just are so slow to pop up but I don't mind on the slow-pace combat. So if they fix those, then I would probably stick with this game till a good MMO comes.

I'd give it a 6 to 6.5. Will Gamespot's review stop me from playing it? LOL If anything, it will encourage me to keep enjoying it, knowing that the "instant gratification" crowd doesn't like it. Personally I like the crafting and pve mix. Then again I've always liked crafting in MMO's. Since I got my start in Meridian 59, I enjoy slow leveling and actually feeling like I accomplished something, instead of working my way to max level as quickly as possible just to experience the "end game" content in the game I bought a week ago.

They are forum retards. FF players are already druel sobbing maniacs for square to begin with, and they are playing the game right now. The ones who are hyping it on forums are the ones sniffing pixi sticks and believe they had an epiphany to the game.
Heres to hoping the game gets better eventally, I am not offet by the combat personally, but I detest the fact that I can't blink an eye without running into a game breaking problem. The review was spot on.
This is exactly what I expected, and the negative reviews will continue. SE asked that reviewers hold off for at least a month. That pretty much tells the tale. Apparently, the game will have aditional content in a month? I don't know, but it's easy to experience the core mechanics, and it's the core mechanics that most people have a problem with. When a game company is comfortable taking customers money, then presumably the game is ready to be reviewed. This game will continue to get thrashed by the gaming media, and rightfully so. SE needs a wake up call telling them that they can no longer rest on the laurels of the Final Fantasy franchise.
I'm sure someone is going to chime in with, "the game was not designed for him." As usual, I will say that's a load of rubbish. People can't get past how bad the very core of the game is i.e. the interface, the overburdened menus, the lack of "life" in the world, the insipid quests, etc. It's not that the game isn't their cup of tea. Maybe it would be, but how would they know if they are so appalled by basic game mechanics. It's not a game deserving of the Final Fantasy title. Then again, most of their recent forays into the market are little more than interactive anime undeserving of the title.
Specifically, I think the review was fairly illuminating albeit harsh. The reviewer listed all of the complaints that most everybody has (core gameplay), and noted the positives; stunning graphics, robust character development, and focus on an interesting story.
I'm still wanting to love this game as I loved XI, and I suppose nostalgia is getting the better part of me at the moment. If they don't start fixing or announce specific plans to start fixing issues, then it's simply not worth a sub fee.
Also find it amusing that a lot of complaints are because of systems that work perfectly but are atypical to MMO's. People not realizing every class can port instead of getting rage running around. Hitting random keys on the keyboard trying to open windows instead of realizing everything can be opened with one button. Needing to level "two bars" for adventuring and don't even bring up multiclassing.
Just more proof the typical MMO player mindset is "change bad! These are not like the things I played before! Make it like the game from earlier! This is not the same as the before time!" Several systems work perfectly, but since its not 1:1 the same as other MMO's they throw a GD fit. Children.
There is plenty of stuff I don't like about it. I'd give it maybe a 7. But just makes people look retarded when they shit on systems being 'bad' when in reality they didn't have the patience to figure a perfectly functional system on their own when it was slightly different.

An excellent reason to play! And yes, at times I resort to self-flagellation as well ... at least when Mistress hasn't time for me.

This made me LOL.
Edit: By the way, OP, it's GamesPot, not GameStop.

I think what most people are reacting to isn't something that's 'different', but the fact that it seems SE has taken a wheel and given in four flat edges, in order to make the act of rolling it more challenging. Absolutely, it is tougher to roll it, but is this really a step in the right direction, or simply an act of complicating matters purely for the sake of complicating them?

Wow, I knew you guys were pretty desparate to slam the game, but hacking the web page of a major game site so a user review masquarades as an official one? Pretty impressive.
[Edit: no, after seeing there's an actual video associated with it, I guess not, despite the wierd way GameSpot distributes its content making it looks like the reviewer didn't even write this.]

Finally, an accurate review.
It will likely improve with time. Although what SE have really done is seriously damage any potential for most to actually be bothered.
