So the Director of FFXIV announced that they have been listening and has publicized the updates they are working on for the rest of the year. From looking at the list, they have hit on almost every major aspect people have been complaining about, as well as a few Ive never even heard of. Furthermore, they have even extended everyones free trial for 30 days.
And yet people are still complaining.
So I'd like to know, what more do you want?
Obviously, "dont release an unfinished game" is ideal but impossible at this point! In my opinion, there is nothing more I could ask for from SE. So I dont get it.
I personally want nothing more than to see the great game I know SE envisioned, and I can tell they wont give up until they've satisfied people like me. Why is that such a horrible thing?

I dunno... um... maybe CONTENT?
-A mail system?
-More than 5 zones that have mostly rubberstamped featuers?
-More life to the zones than talking to a crystal in a camp to start a "quest" (Ha... if you call them quests).
Basically this game has fundemental design flaws that can't be fixed in a couple months. These upcoming changes are root mechanical/function type things, but at the end of the day (or in this case year) it won't make the game more fun, just more playable...
Nothing has changed and nothing will change for the rest of the year except for some UI things that should have been there from the start.... I mean, a SORT function.... really? They just now realize they need this? Still no ability to buy new retainers, but soon?
Aion, yes AION, had more features and content than this game at launch. What the HELL happened to SE? It's sad, really it is. I had high hopes for this game. It wasn't until after rank 10 did I realize.... crap, this is bad. I realize that when we got XI it was already a year old. Okay, that's fine, but how can they not put in fundimental functions that were XI in XIV. It's like they are trying to relearn how to make an MMO. XI had sort.... and XIV doesn't? (just as an example) I don't know how or why these things weren't in their SECOND MMO. Things their FIRST MMO had. I just don't get it. *boggle*
it's not, but people can't be happy unless they're constantly shooting down others fun. SE is at least starting to make effort, and people find complaint with that too.....i'm ignoring it, does no good to argue. if you DEFEND or try too hard to defend the game...you're a hopeless fanboy.....if you slightly agree you're flip flopping, if you're on here every singe day bashing it...well the truth is your bored and a troll. i got the CE, i'm playing....but i'm also taking it in a stride...taking my time....so if i do see the change i'll be satisfied...but if not at least i didn't spend hours upon hours ina character i was going to delete because they as a company have pissed me off beyond extent. i'm not bitching about engame...becaue i wasn't expecting to see endgame. i'm not yelling for whatever everyone else is yelling for because i'm willing to give them a chance. i am willing to wait it out ....for now. i have a clock...it's counting down.....for now i'm good and that's what matters.
Played:FFXI, WoW, LOTR,EQ. Playing:FFXIV.
Looking Forward To:DCU, SWTOR.
What more do you want?
I think what people wanted is all of those changes to be done at release. Not a year from now. They had 5 years of development and an enormous budget.
For me, they would have to time travel to get done what I want. Since they can't time travel, they won't get a sub from me.
What more do you want?
Guild Wars 2 ASAP. But SE just made sure that there's no hurry, because FFXIV at least is no competition.
What more do I want?
Fanbois to admit S E tried to pull a fast one on everyone and got caught.
Closed Beta & Open Beta fixed by pre launch
I think the first one will be easier since we cant go back in time. ... .
Personally I love ffxiv but I cant play this game without an AH I know its the biggest complaint but without an AH this game takes up way to much time. I'm about to quit and come back when the AH is implemented
Nothing, I am enjoying the game right now. And it's getting better with the upcoming patches.

What more do I want? My money back for the box purchase instead of an additional thirty day sentence to continue playing an awful game. The irony is that the anticipated changes will come only after the free trial period is up. And even with the patch, the game won't be more fun, just more playable.
I would not want to have to beta test their game for them over the next few months on content that should of been there in the first place. They are going to have to keep throwing free time to players just to hold onto a playerbase of some kind as they "fix" it. Too late...bring on GW2
a good mmo would be nice before I die of old age. besides the ones I've played to death five years ago.
Closest thing you are going to get to AH it seems is market wards that are split apart with a search engine to find the item you want. Pretty close to an AH, just a little walking involved.
No one here cna claim they are trying to make you pay to beta test, they are basically letting everyone play for free until they fix everything they promised. By the time the extended free trial ends, all their major changes should be implimented
That includes, more content, revised features, more balanced, rebalancing of the current features..
I mean if you are still complaining you are just here trying to bash the game and you had no interest in seeing it succeed anyway. During your 2 month free trail you can either play the game or wait, either way this stuff will be fixed.
And auction hosue isnt a fix, its a feature people want that they dont want to impliment, i personally like the ward system, as a pure crafter it lets me work my market place without having to undercut every other crafter because the auction house has run my 30k item down to 3k.

Couldnt agree more, certainly SE is making an effort trying to repair FFXIV, but no some ppl just cant accept that. And i take that +30day playing time thank you.
I'm of the opinion that, even if the game was flawless on release, a significant number of folk here would be complaining simply because they fell outside of Final Fantasy XIV's intended audience.
At rate of every 3 months for a major version improvement is about what I expected from Square-Enix. It's the general pace that Final Fantasy XI operated at, after all. It's encouraging to see they're going to apply a bit of extra effort towards bringing us some vital features before then.
If the game was actually FUN, there would be no people here religiously defending it, because they would be playing.
It would be only us "trolls" and "flamers", talking to eachother and keeping company.
You, people that keep talking about how great the game is, actually fuel us. Simple as that.
It is humans nature to complain I guess.
So much people are so emotional, especially in their writings.
I love the game, while I do see issues, they don't bother me, and SE is improving it. People who don't like how this is going should just leave this game quietly and ignore it.
But people love drama and emotional stuff, so we need to hear all their complains.
Maybe we should be kinder to the haters and acknowledge their pains. They probably looking for acknowledgement so maybe if we give that, maybe then they can leave quietly?
That is usually the problem when people are mad and keep trying to get attention to the problems they see. If you give acknowledgement they feel heard and then they can let it go and on with their lifes.
Take a look at most of the responses in most of the threads in this section. That IS in fact exactly what you see. Flamers flaming, while players play.
I know it's hard to believe, but some of us DO enjoy the game for what it is.
I think the the game's fun, I just finished playing it for 6 hours. That doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to stop visiting forums... far from it, forums are a deeply engrained habit of mine. Really, fun is subjective, it's to be expected that if you sit down two people with the same activity there's a good chance one will like the activity and one won't. You'll find your world view considerably improved when you make this realization.
The other two lines of your post boggle me. Really? This your goal? To have a place where you guys can sit around cracking jokes at how much you all hate Final Fantasy XIV without having to acknowledge the existance of all the people that do? Maybe we should ask Mr. Bitton to create a forum just for you guys, "FFXIV Hate Forum" no positive posts allowed.
Funny enough, I was looking at RAPTR's profile for the game to see if there was some kind of way to display a particular time frame and ended up going to their player review section. Amongst RAPTR players: average rating, 4/5. 140 player reviews, more than Metacritic has right now (although MetaCritic has ~50 more "player ratings.")
Matrix Online had a handful of people that liked it.
Tabula Rasa too.

I'm sure there are more and do you see the pattern here? Just because you find the game fun and the majority don't doesn't make the game any better, it just makes it better for YOU. Some people just like to look through rose colored glasses no matter what the view is. THAT'S human nature. Complaints on the scale of what FFXIV is getting is just evidence to the fact that something is wrong with the game and it goes beyond what they have announced they will fix.
Also, this whole "I believe SE WILL put in the content we expect as the game grows" is just a bunch of BS. If the game had a solid content base to begin with I could see this being worthy, but it doesn't, therefore this comment makes it look like a stalling tactic. If you want to defend the game then do so based on what is available not on what YOU think SE will add in later.
I could care less who likes or dislikes this game or any other and I find it funny how many threads are made like this by zealots of a game. The game is not what I was expecting and even with the changes I still don't care for it. Yes, it has it's strengths but it's still not enough for me to spend my time on. I'm not going to bash you or any fan for sticking with it so why bash any one of us who don't care for or it or give us crap for not running back to it? Have fun playing and I'll be patiently waiting for Rift and GW2. They are all just games so why do we continue on with meaningless drama?
Because a lot of people that do not care for the game and do not intend to play it never again and not like the game put a lot o effort in telling all the world over and over agin in this forum how bad it is. Part of me is close to make a kind of posting history from some people to show how often they say that they not care for the game and hate it. Some people they that pretty often in nearly each thread. :P
I get what you're saying but if I know a product stinks I don't want my friend to waste his money on it so if I give it a bad review it's like a good warning that hey, this game isn't all it's cracked up to be and it might be a good idea to wait it out. Now some people do go overboard with this but I think you get my point.
Hm I get it, it is just that by human natures both sides tend to be possessed by the urge to convicne otehrs from their view. I Personally just like the game and agree that not everybody likes it, I just dislike constantly bashing about already stated things or wrong said things.
Aside of that currently itf eels like SE could even pay every player 1000 Euro and some people would complain that this never pays up he pain they endured and calling me sheep for just likeing the game or tell me that I lack common sense.
If people hadn't complained, SE wouldn't have granted the extension free month.
The fanbois should think about that for a moment.
This is so true, i wouldn't have the time to post at forum if the game is really fun. I would be busy playing the game. exploring the world, killing mobs, doing quest, crafting, partying.
Games on my waiting list:
Guild War 2
Tera
Rift
