I'll say it right out, I hate this piece of trash. It's by far the worst MMORPG ever released, and it's only managed to get worse, and even go so far as to make other games suck in attempts to copy it instead of being original, or who ruin themselves to be more like it (I'm looking at you, SWG's NGE).
That being said, this is one of the overwhelmingly few occasions that Blizzard is doing something good and attempting to make the game interesting in some way. Maybe they caught wind of Rift: Planes of Telara or the above-mentioned EQ example and said "hey that sounds cool" (it wouldn't be the fist time, they've never managed to come up with anything on their own in this game.)
Give credit where credit's due, they're finally doing something at least somewhat interesting. Worst case, oh no, you have to spend a few gold and/or run back to your body. Go play a real game for a few days, then you can come back here and complain about death penalties. I recommend FFXI or EVE Online, nothing better than losing levels or having to rebuy ALL of your gear + ship to teach you that death hurts (worse yet, get podkilled with an outdated clone; huzzah for losing skills that require a real-time timer to train). So seriously, cut them some slack. The likelihood of you getting nailed is low, and even if you are, it's not like the penalties in WoW are more than a mild annoyance, at worst.

The people who are complaining about this are the same people complaining about the zombie event before WotLK. I don't play anymore but I like this. The game needs more events like this.

They are too stucked about just xp and gold, not about role play or have a real fun PLAYNG the game. They complain about deaths, about anyhing. EVE its a really pro game... If you lose your clone update, god bless you cause you lost a good time. Thats the magic behind a game, it isnt made for you! It's made about it's cenario, it's world.

Not really innovative. CoH has had random zone spawns of alien attacks, giant monsters, and ghost ships (only 2 zones) for years now. Although, I do applaud WoW for adding such content, it isn't really innovative if it was done before.
I agree with the statement that mmo gamers are to blame for the genre being stale and old. This is a badass game addition. It makes the world a actual world, heaven forbid your 24/7 level grind gets interrupted. They had things like this in eq1 and in co, in both games it made playing more exciting. I'm one of the biggest wow haters in the world but this made me have some respect for blizzard. Good idea and I hope all the people here bashing it get eaten by deathwing

It is innovative for WoW. That is more than most games can claim as they continually churn out more of exactly what they already had while possibly removing features to make development faster and cheaper. Do not underestimate the difficulty of adding new features to old code.

First thing, I dont know why there is so much hate for a game. If you dont like it then say it, stop with the faux anger.
Second, we don't know the exact mechanics of this event. Yea he's setting shit on fire, yea he's flying around the world, yea he's gonna gank noobs.....so what. Ever play on a pvp server and your ganked by a level 80 who basically spits on you and you die. Then he camps your body for a half hour. Death by deathwing is not a big deal.
Third, this event brings a tremendous amount of lore to the game. Sure some ppl PL and only care about the loot grind, but for some of us who actually find the story interesting, we can't wait for this to get going.
Finally, some ppl have speculated that the deathwng breath of death will continue in cata. I fully beileve that will not happen. Its the pre event to cata. It centers around the shattering. Once that happens, and the world is remade, he wont be breathing death anymore.
lol a company trys to do something different - to add a little variety and fun to their games - people cry - and then you cry because nothing ever different comes out. Seems like game companies can't win.
Actually, it's not really so different. Other MMO's have some form of this for years.
