They have been loosing money since the game launched.

Yea it dropped since last year but if you look at the numbers they are still currently making money off this game.
They do receive some money from current subs, but they are not making any profit.
Exactly why fans of the game want to ignore that. They do not realize the game might shutdown soon as most people dont play anymore or waiting for their sub to run out.

Noone plays? ....
There are only about 100 people total in the entire game at one time right now. Thats alot?
I think that Mats email provides a great insite to the rift developing between the #2 guy and his boss. He obviously thinks that Henrick has screwed up and worries that he will be tagged along with him. Simply reading what he says makes it obvious what he thinks about the future of StarVault... and who's fault he thinks it is.
I imagine hat Monday will be interesting at the SV offices.

What do you know. You don't even play the game. There are more people playing now than just 2-3 weeks ago. People have started to return to it now. The last patch have improved lots so I see more people ingame every day. FYI, there are many more than just 100 people.

My hope is that Mats is listened to and that he is willing to start managing a little more, despite him stating that he does not want to. The issue needed forcing IMO and hope the rest of the dev team rally behind mats.

Would be nice for someone else to take the reigns from Henrik. Under his rule, the game has been a disaster

I completely agree, tehre are probably ~200 people or so. And FYI, you cant know for sure how many there are :P
I have to kind of giggle when I read Mats' PM, because he's a typical type of employee that we avoid hiring. The "know it alls".
Things like "I'm the most experienced", or "I started a game design school for five years" astounds me as boasting about the accomplishments you have, when your name isn't attached to a *single* shipped title. It's laughable.
Part of "design" is to come up with a hard and fast roadmap upon which your product is built. It's not just about being the "creative" designer, as you generally find, even in the financial software which I help produce, it's about being properly trained in an SDLC program, or an ITIL program, that helps you look at not only the design of your product, but all the surrounding pieces that go into it. If you're the most "experienced" member of your team, you should know this without any hesitation. But he's quick to point out the failures in how his design is being implemented, when he obviously didn't scope the design for the resources he had at hand. That's how the software development world works, and for me to read that PM a few times over, makes me realize that yep -- he won't be working in the game development industry as any type of designer any time soon. Maybe he'll go back to doing art, you know -- the type that he has no credits on his name for anything. Ever.
Till then this PM doesn't reveal anything we didn't already know, except the fact that Mats has an issue with how Henrik runs the ship, but I am sure after reading that PM, Henrik doesn't think too highly of Mats either.

Wonder if Mats can get Henrik to step down if he gets all the other developers behind him?

Hercules, I think you are being a little unfair to mats mate but each to their own.
Wow that is some pretty funny stuff Mats said in a pm. How did he not think that dude was going to post that for everyone to see.
Someone posted the Mats PM in the MO forums asking if it was for real. It was up for about 3 mins, and deleted. The funny thing is that a bunch of fanboys got on and talked trash to the person posting it. Why are people so blind. I would want to know what the #2 guy developing the game I am playing thinks. Why are the fanboys so blind?
Wow looks like Mats pm was deleted off these forums also.
For a game thats been claimed to support 27000 concurrent players (average 135000 accounts) , which has sold only 14000ish copies, is played globally on one server, yet currently averages a few hundred concurrent...
NO...
Since SV has been loosing money since going live, it's pretty clear they dont have enough people playing.
but SV dont seem to be to concerend any company loosing money who are worried would be giving out free trials and posting up gameplay vids everywhere. The reason SV arent doing this is because they know what needs to be done and once everything is set a new media push will happen and this time they are planning on keeping the subscription base. release was awful before, but it had to happen they needed to launch and thats basically that. An indie company first time developer was always going to have problems and in all honesty i thoguht the game would have compeltely failed but after recent patches i have made a u turn on how i feel about the game. Its looking rather proffesional and easily stands up next to other indie mmos and imo is handled far better than darkfall. patches have been comnig insanly fast in all honesty im not suprised alot of them broke quite abit and createed more bugs, games like darkfall and eve patch once every few months MO has rleeased 5 in 1 month. It sure has alot to patch and alot more content to add but when you look at what SV are trying to achieve with MO only infinity online beats it in scope. with archage a clsoe second.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
I removed the PM myself. It was up long enough to get the truth of the matter out and to confirm the issues the team has and must resolve, if they are to move forwards.
Deathshroud, I don't think the game is in a decent enough state for a free trial. There really is very little in the way of content and most who experience it will realise that beyond PvP and territory capture (which does not work properly) there is nothing to provide a challenge. The AI is still very poor and I don't believe they have the knowledge and experience to code a decent one. Plus we have to take into account all the game breaking bugs.
What SV are experiencing now is the outcome of a poor business and game development plan. The steps they have taken should have been shorter. Its arrogant to think you can deliver an mmo on such a small budget with an inexperienced team (excepting mats). The game should have been initially developed on a part time basis ala the modding community and then moved into a profit making exercise. However, hindsight is always a wonderful thing.
EDIT: Oh, yes I got my forum account banned for life - "Persona non grata" - that happened AFTER I removed the PM last night; just to be clear on my motives for removing it.
EDIT 2: Incidently, I was not the one to post on the MO official boards. The fact that occured and both were deleted in short time of one another is coincidence. There are far worse and more damning pieces of PMs, emails and IRC logs that I could release.

Actually someone will report it as Topic Hijacking. Best bet is to make a new thread.

Are you serious?
This is the big news? I really expected something more substantial considering the meltdown that is occuring.

Seems that trolling been taken care of (thanks MikeB), so where were we..
Aye thanks mikeB! Hopefully syndic can make his thread now?
Guys, let's be a bit careful about accusing anyone of illegal activities. I'd rather not lock this thread.
I re-read this entire thread and saw nothing about that. Please explain?

Dav, the PM was deleted for a reason, and you should remove it too outta respect for Mats. He is not the guy to be firing at, but the CEO.
Hey guys, let's not repost anything that was previously deleted. Thanks.
