PS3 to outsell Xbox 360 by 2012 - Analyst

Looks like quality is catching up to quantity. I just really wish the PS3 had much better games. Games like Killzone and MAG are just ok and thats the problem, they are just ok. The PS3 really needs a fantastic exclusive like what Halo does for the 360.

Im sure once the Wii craze wore off and people realized nothing really good was coming out for it they looked to the PS3 and Xbox..

Ive always been a PS guy,I love my PS3,but yeah it could use a heavy hitter franchise exclusively for the console. It has FF and God of War,but they dont add up to something like Halo.

Though that really isnt stopping me,my Gamefly Q is always filled to max with games I want to try.

I love how every now and then Sony themselves come out with a gem like ICO or Shadow of the Colossus.SotC blew me away,I couldnt believe it was a game for the PS2,it looked more like a game for the PS3(which wasnt even out at the time).

Isn't it funny when the jail breaks come out the PS3 sells more but look at the drop is sales for the games im sure there will be quite a large visible drop in game sales.

I hate to admit it. . but I just now got a 360.  I enjoy it a lot. . the thing that would draw me to a PS3 is the free online play.  I am a PC gamer at heart though.  I always thought I would get a PS3 first but then I thought about the initial investment vs. how many games I would want to play.  Dark Rain was about the only exclusive title I could think of so I went with the xbox.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

I think the PS3 isn't focused on FPS games as much.  It's more of the classic style of gaming like platformers and adventure games.  Look at Infamous and Uncharted as a series.  Those games are amongst the best released on any modern console and they're PS3 exclusives.  Besides, Halo is overrated.  It's a cool game and all but its not amazing.  All of the biggest FPS games are multi-platform anyway.

This is an interesting thread. I have a good friend who is a regional manager for a couple gamestops in our area. He was looking over his numbers for 2010 and mentioned to me in conversation one day that xbox 360 games sell 3 to every one PS3 game they sell. I mean sure that is only one small area, but interesting none the less.

Thats true I forgot about Uncharted..

the last release was a huge hit.

The PS3 isn't superior to the xbox 360. I like both systems and both have their ups and downs. However, in the west the Xbox pretty much trumps the PS3 just like in the east its the other way around.

  • KomaKoma Member UncommonPosts: 25

Analyst can pretty much speculate and say whatever they want.

The bottom line is that with the exception of a small amount of exclusive titles the PS3 is a Blu-Ray player and only a Blu-Ray player for most people who own both systems.

There is no 'quality' if there aren't any titles worth skipping using Live with.

Don't get me wrong though I like my PS3 but it gets very little play because Live is so entrenched as a superior online gaming network and a few good exclusive titles isn't going to change that.

  • Frostbite05Frostbite05 Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 1,880

Basically but i mean both systems are great. Infamous and Uncharted are both in my top 10 games. But what i really hate is for people to say the PS3 is of a higher quality than the xbox. From a graphical standpoint there is only a very slight difference and that comes from the color rather than the actual graphics engines in both rigs.

Are you kidding me dude? Halo? THAT game is OK. Killzone 2 is not OK, Killzone 2 is GREAT. Unlike Halo 3, and all the other Halo spinoffs that got released recently.

Xbox 360 has:Gears of War, Halo and Forza (please tell me I'm wrong)

PS3 has: Uncharted 1 & 2, Demon's Souls, God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank games, Ninja Gaiden Sigma series, inFamous, Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza 3, Little Big Planet

ALL of which are 100% ps3 exclusive and have had great success. Not to mention the ps3 exclusives that are not far from release, including Gran Turismo 5, inFamous 2 and Killzone 3.

Let's see here, which console has better games here? Not to mention the most? I think the answer is obvious.

    Current mmorpg: Everquest 2
Current RPG: The Last Remnant (PC)
Current console games: Tekken 6 (PS3)
Current PC games: Super Street Fighter IV: AE2012

They are about the same but the edge goes to the Xbox for sheer number of players.

Halo 3/ODST/Reach, Forza, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead 1-2, Gears of War 1-3, Fable 1-3, Dead Rising, Bioshock 1-2 and Infinite, Viva Pinata games,  Xbox Live Arcade.

They are not really targeting the same groups. Wii is more family fun while X-Box and PS are aimed for gamers.

I don't think comparing them or their sales really works. I know few gamers who own a Wii (actually just one guy and his girlfriend insisted).

As for PS3 Vs 360 I think that PS3s blue ray is what is tipping the scales now. In the beginning it made it far to expensive but once prices drops it is one of things that sells it. If 360 would have implemented that HD DVD from start everything might have been different, hard to say but I think Ps3 will have sold most consoles in the end.

Yes, it is clear.  Its the 360. Forza, GoW, Halo, Fable, Crackdown,Two Worlds,  etc. etc.  Even if they release on PCs eventually they are games that will not release to PS3.  That is actually a big deal from a console perspective.   There are a large number of PC and 360 games that the PS3 won't get.

I also like the interface of the 360 more too.  Its easier to use, has less problems,  and everything has much MUCH less downtime.  It seems at least once a month the PS3 service is down for maintenance and I can't access the shop.  Its ridiculous.

Playstation does do some stuff great,  and their no cost for online play is a big deal that brings a lot of players in.

Sorry but, half of the games you listed are multi-platform, or even exist on PS3.  I listed 100% ps3 exclusives. And I unlike you, I listed games worth listing. Viva Pinata? Cmon now, who are you trying to kid?

It'll probably just catch up and that's about it.

All the fanboys are slowly getting all of the consoles instead of just one, because they finally got money or a birthday.

    In the end, who cares?

  • adam_noxadam_nox Member UncommonPosts: 2,148

whee just in time for ps4.  Hopefully sony won't screw that one up with a ridiculous price point.

  • KomaKoma Member UncommonPosts: 25

Dead Rising and Bioshock are. PS3 got a late release of Bioshock 1 but other than that its not exclusive.

Thats true, they do target different crowds, but the whole motion thing was new and I think the craze over it sold alot of people.Once the dust settled though I think alot of people got bored with it quickly and also realized theyre missing out on the God of Wars and the Halo's of the console world.

I know 4 friends of mine who all bought Wii's,today they dont really touch them anymore. They all ended up buying xbox or PS3.

  • GithernGithern Member Posts: 79

Seems kind of moronic to me. Motion is not a big deal, I did it, got tired of it, won't be trying it again. A new device that tracks your motion without a controller is still just that. It will lose track of you, fail to recognize you, and be laborious. It makes me glad to be a PC gamer without the need of gimmicky crap to try to keep its players.

everybody i know that has a wii thought it was the best thing in the world, now they wish they never bought it.  everybody i know that has a PS3 bought it for the free online play but now hate it for its crappy online and update speeds.  they all bought a 360 and love it.

the only reason i would buy a PS3 is for the few good exclusives that it has.  the wii is just......no.
