WOW!  Just, Um, WOW!   I really don't even know what to say about this disaster...

When a tsunami hits an island and kills hundreds of people, that's a disaster.

When an airplane crashes and there are no survivors, that's a disaster.

A video game company controlling the release of an expansion so that all of its players can experience the new content at the same time is definitely NOT a disaster.  Not even close.

I am surprised at the number of people who don't seem to get it.  Maybe my tastes are different from others, but...

I do not care about realm firsts, at all.  I am mostly concerned with the midnight release.  I guess people aren't going to understand, but it's about the midnight launch party and how the whole tradition has a damper on it.  You buy a game, you meet with fans of the game, then you go home and PLAY.  WTF are we supposed to do with cata?

Why don't you have a pre logging in party and set up some super duper countdown timer like a new years eve party?

I dont see this as a botch, in fact i'd say it's quite the opposite.  They have posted a communication about exactly what time things are going to happen to eliminate any confusion.   Good for them and boo to impatience

Given the state of the world, there are more pressing matters to concern yourself with.

Exactly.  It was a business decision that has its ups and downs, just like every single choice that's ever been made.  In my life I've never seen such a QQ before.  Further, just because something doesn't affect a person doesn't mean they aren't qualified to have an opinion, or even to "champion" the cause.  I believe most charities are run by non-recipients afterall...  Good grief.  To everyone playing Cata, good luck and I hope you enjoy it.  I'll probably check it out after the holidays.

Whats the big deal here? I see nothing wrong with it. People need to get their priorities straight.

    What's the dealeo?

You bloody americans had the game months before any of us europeans and now some of you cry because you have it 3 hours later?

    Spoiled, whiny brats.

How can you not see it?  You go to the store at midnight, buy the game, come home and... go to sleep because it's not a midnight launch for you.

Vanilla, TBC, and Wrath were all playable at midnight.  Cata won't be, unless you live on the West Coast, then it's fine.  If you live on the East Coast, the launch is so late that most people won't get to play...

Man up and pull an all-nighter. If you haven't already taken a week off for Cata you aren't "hardcore" enough for this to matter.

    @Souldrainer

Why not complain to the software retailers to change the release party to 3am?  Problem solved.

    *FACEPALM*

The sheer amount of QQ about this is rediculous, for years the East coast has had a head start over the rest of the U.S. and now they want to complain about 3 hours difference...shheessh.

@Thekandy, please don't generalize all americans based on one person.  Thank you.

Oh no, you'll not edit out of that reading failure that easily.

So for once it releases at Blizzards LOCAL time, on the 7th, and 2 AM CST, 3 AM EST, and people on the east coast cry?

Most things may list the time of show2s and such in EST, but that does not make your time zone dominate, or the most important.

Personally, I think they will botch the maintenance/patch. Meaning time is set for 12:01 AM PST, but if history proves right, blizzard has never had a flawless execution of a major patch, and usually expands downtime.

Stop crying because its not going to be midnight launch for you. WoTLK launched like it did, as did TBC because it did not change the whole world, just added new things, and did not involve a huge patch on launch day.

Cata, is changing everything, sure some is already live, but most of the changes are yet to come and will be released via patch on launch day. Thus why its in Blizzards LOCAL time, they are based out of Cali after all...

    Ha!  Caught me dead on.

P.S. China called and said you have no right to complain either.

Well I guess it can only be midnight for an official launch in 1 spot in the world, perhaps the answer for those feeling hard done by for those 3 hrs of lost gameplay should move temporarily to the west coast. Or alternatively get a few hrs sleep before jumping into WoW thus being able to ignore your Wife/children/parents/job/household chores/bill payments/eating/drinking/and anything else that may just interupt your ever so important 3 extra hrs of WoW.

Some ppl really do need a reality check.

I wouldn't call it a disaster, annoying yes, but not a disaster.

  • ko1oko1o Member UncommonPosts: 117

Umm, this is how every MMO ever has been... I can't think of a MMO that was made in the east coast.

Either way everyone gets to play at the same time. You just have to understand you're 3 hours ahead of them.

This is my question as well.

I went to the site thinking "wait, Cataclysm is launching?!?!?!?!!? How the heck did I miss that!"

And then I saw Dec 7th.

    Now I'm wicked confused. image

So it activates at the same time for everyone, and this is a problem why? Realm first achievements make this a requirement now. It is only fair to do it this way.

I'm unaffected anyways because I'm buying it 10 days after launch.

  • itchmonitchmon Member RarePosts: 1,999

you guys are going to be playing thru the content for about 1 year, so who cares about 3 hours?

besides, it'll take more than 1/2 of the 3 hours' in-between time to install and patch, assuming there's a decent patch and 7 bazillion people are all trying to patch it at the same time.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Are you exagerating, or are you serious about this being a disaster?

If you were just messing around then I give it a big LOL

If you were serious then I'm lost in the sauce, I dont see the prob.

ONE HUGE problem you'll have is that everyone will be trying to PATCH at the same time..  Yes.. the east coast will be able to get their hard copy and d/l it.. but we all know that patching missing or changed content is required and if the east coast has to wait 3 hours to patch it with the everyone else.. the servers are going to be LOG JAMMED..  WoW .. talk about a headache to come.. Good Luck with your patching
