I am not playing because though the concept sounds exciting everything I have read about the actual performance makes me want to run screaming in the opposite direction. Most games here, when someone posts about how bad it is, the fanboys come and rant and rave. For this game the fanboys just kind of hang their heads and talk about how they HOPE it will get better if we just wait. That is sad. Even the fanboys seem to have lost hope. Not a good indicator to me for spending money to play a game.
Forced PVP games & pvp centric games don't last long at least as pay games with exceptions such as Lineage II where the penalties for pking are quite stiff. There are times when people want the challenge and other times when people just want to be left alone. Games where that is optional tend to do the best. Mortal would have done better using that formula.
I played this game. I stopped because the houses were made with huge elephant-like teeth. Yet there were no elephants or creatures endowed with such magnificent teeth anywhere to be seen.
My suspense of disbelief suddenly crashed and died an agonizing death.
That and the female models which reminded me of the grannies in my neighbourhood swimmingpool.
Just wondering what everyone is waiting for, and why don't you currently play atm. Let's keep it constructive.
I don't play it because of lack of the solo content and the game being to guild based. Hopefully it will change soon!
Because at this point in time I'm burned out on fantasy settings without an added reason to engage in them such as a familiar setting that I had an outside interest in, at this point though unless it's Dragonlance I just don't see myself caring much anymore about the fantasy setting.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
I fell into the trap of actually supporting these idiots and pre-ordering early on. Why don't I play? Could be because the game is doomed to fail. Could be because of their incredible misconduct and general cockyness considering how poorly they've managed everything, but I'm just going to go with "because I don't like chopping wood that much".
Entire game is laughable. Combat is slow, button mashing, and very little skill required. World is empty with no sand in the box. Other players speak English poorly to the point where you feel like you are talking to a seven year old.
Having to "sheath" and "unsheath" your fists made me laugh hysterically all the way to the uninstall button.
Because they said they were trying to create a spiritual successor to UO with a first person, 3-d engine. Then I was like, what ever. Maybe with 1990 graphics but they didn't take this route and I knew the game would be (and is) all about pvp. I cannot stick with a primarily pvp game for long.
Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.
!> I prefer 3rd person games. I don't like being forced into using 1st person only.
2> I played it in beta. It was "cute" but highly unpolished.
3> Related to #1... I like what my character looks like. And the character models were hideous in beta. Like... late 90s bad.
Several other reasons, but these are the tops of the list for me.
1. You didn't know it was 1st person before purchasing?
2. Beta is exactly that, beta. Ofcourse it's not going to be as polished as other MMO's.
3. Once again you're comparing beta models to models of released games.
Shall I post some comparisons with released games?
Er. I honestly don't know what point you're trying to make. You are aware that this game is (technically) out of beta, right? I guess there would be some value to your statement if MO pre-release and post-release were entirely different beasts, but they're not. Especially in regards to player models.

[Edit: no, after seeing there's an actual video associated with it, I guess not, despite the wierd way GameSpot distributes its content making it looks like the reviewer didn't even write this.]

so you're saying pre epic patch looks exactly the same as post epic patch. k man, if you say so. even then I will gladly compare graphics of MO to any other game out there and we can see which looks better.
I don't play because they are charging people to beta test their game. This game should have never been released like this, like I warned SV many times over before the release.
I am a block A user, I already gave my portion of support and trust by buying an inexistent product, more than an year ago.
They need our help to develop this game, yet they make us pay to help. It doesn't make any sense in my book.
Mortal Online is like a prostitute that tells you she loves you so she can get more money out of your horny pocket.

I didn't find the models themselves anything special. I liked the low fantasy style they were going for, but would have preferred if they didn't use the unreal engine to achieve that.

What? Epic patch? I honestly don't know why I'm bothering, since I'm sure your next reply won't make any sense either. Your comments imply that the poster you quoted is foolish for basing his opinions off the quality of the character models during beta. But...they haven't really changed. Now you're blabbing about the difference between the pre-epic and post-epic patch. Again, this didn't really change the player models. And, on top of that, the epic patch was...what? A couple months ago? Again, the game was out of beta at this point. It's like you're throwing random information at me.

Currently bored with MMO's.
I love sandbox games but first person view and PvP focus are both dealbreaker for me.

I don't play any game that forces me to PVP. To me, forced PVP is always a deal breaker. I won't even try a game that forces open PVP on all players.
WinnTech
the frikkin skill system is a joke
you can't make an even semi complete character
but the fanbois love it
until you suggest a single character per account system and then the nuclear bomb goes off
which, just shows that the frikkin skill system is a joke
Don't play because it feels incomplete.

I'm happy with Darkfall, and I don't like the trainwreck of a launch + 6 months I'm seeing.
They fixed the uninstaller?
I win!!! LOL@U
Henrik would be my reason. The guy craps out of his mouth. Look at the newest Developer Talk and you'll see what I mean.
He who keeps his cool best wins.

is this a general mmorpg community question? or people that have played the game and don't anymore?
As a general community person who's never played, the game looks like shit that's why i'll never play.

Both, I am curious why people are not willing to give the game a chance or stopped playing it.
Let's stay on topic guys. Try not to deviate away from the OP's subject. Thanks.
I don't play because there's not a trial and I'm not putting out money on a game I've not had the opportunity to try.
