Lets make a Story line game, Lets put a sub fee , a small PvP BattleGround system , Cute random loots and lets Charge 15$ a month with an IP that millions will sucker into Buying just in case somehow it will be worth it to pay 50$ + 15$ a month for a few months for a Singleplayer -Co-op based game....
The more news they release , the more stupid this game gets.
Lets hope they have a Hail Marry Somewhere hidden up their Butt

Why would they really need one with most of the industry struggling to retain fifty percent of the player base that purchase the games they are charging fifteen bucks a month for why assume that the "different" they are making isn't what lot's of those people don't want?
I can't speak for everyone but I don't think I'm the only person who has played through lot's of mmorpg's only to reach the "endgame" or earlier only to become bored and quit.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

What I don't understand is why [edit I should say "players"] are picking and choosing what they believe.
True, it's a storyline game but they have said several times that they have open world game play.. Short of showing people grinding in a field, I don't see why this is being dismissed.
Small pvp battleground system. Well, devs have already said that there are different types of pvp and that some places have open pvp. I can only guess that this will be some sort of planet whose ownership is in contention. Still, there seems to be more than just small pvp battlegrounds.
"Cute random loots"; well that is open to debate, I don't see anything I would consider cute.
"Single player co-op based game"; again, they have already said that you can grab some friends and go exploring/grinding. One can play single player and one can play standard mmo play.
This is at least based on what they have said. So if one chooses to disbelieve anything they say about group play then why accept anything that they say at all?
My thought is that it's all going to fit into a middle ground. We probably aren't going to see too many places that remind people of the early open games in their execution but we aren't going to feel like it's a completely single play game either.
It's a game for people who like star wars and want to play in the star wars universe in one way or another.
The issue, in my opinion, isn't what they are going to add but whether or not they can do it flawlessly without too many issues.
As much as I love bioware games, they can be a bit buggy.

Dude, really? They finally let us know something about PvP and you're complaining? After months of "there will be different types of PvP," and other vague statements they finally give us an example and you're whining? At least we know they are working on it. And as far as "single player co-op" goes a) they've said you can either solo or group play the game and b) Guild Wars (the original) has been quite successful with NPCs available, primarily because they put a solid story line into each expansion. And Bioware's KOTOR and KOTOR II are the only video games I've played in over decade that actually feature challenges based on logic, algorithms, and mathematics. You're complaint about "stupid" seems misplaced, to say the least. At least SWTOR has a story and the developers are demonstrating that they are making good on their promises, one update at a time.
Basing a complain on what you do not know is ridiculous, to put it kindly.
You know, for a website like MMORPG which leans towards bashing the mainstream big budget games like WoW and SW:TOR, there sure are a lot of hypocrites! You rank Guild Wars 2 as #1 / Rift #2 / Tera #3 and The Secret World as #4.. and sadly in 5th place you rank SW:TOR in hype. These of course being games in development.
BUT, when it comes to the games you are all looking up and researching this last year? World of Warcraft #1, SW:TOR is #2. Interesting given how much people troll these two games. It's like the ex-girlfriend you keep visiting but don't tell any of your friends about because you are ashamed.

There is a difference in "hype" and it being #2 in popularity. And as you said, currently, SWTOR is neither on the top voted nor on the most popular list of MMORPG, at least not on #2. Let's talk about it being popular and successful AFTER it launched.
I don't even know where to begin but this kills the game for me. 8v8's? Battlegrounds type PVP instead of open world? No thanks. I can't believe this is "Bioware's vision" as far as PVP is concerned. Everytime I read an article regarding SWTOR and the mechanics, almost every single one has turned me off more and more about the game.
Have fun with the multiplayer death matches in SWTOR guys. I think I'm going to go with Guild Wars 2 and Rift.
Bioware really needs to just stick with single-player RPG's.
I hate to say it, but I wouldnt expect much with TOR. Until gaming companys grow some balls and try something new, MMOs are going to continue to be clones of each other. Quest hub to quest hub anyone? Its sooo damn boring for me now
I've switched to sandbox MMOs because theres more freedom to do you choose. Your not forced to run from quest to quest until you have log off for the night, or grind out rep for gear, or grind out dungeons/raids for gear. Its the same old shit different pile if you ask me.
When the hell we going to see the evolution of MMOs? Its taken way to long and it needs to change...Independant companys are the only ones with nuts to try something new, the rest of em are only out for one thing: $$
Unfortionately Bioware is no exception as can be seen with their recent DA downloadable content....lol

He isn't really assuming anything. Just stating that while more people seem to be hyped for GW2 and so on, they are keeping ontop of TOR more. Deep down the people that play down TOR know they really have no idea how it will turn out and are intrested in trying it even if they claim they hate the game.
I think we are all waiting for the day we can get our hands on it. Hater or not. Obviously some are not and will just hate for the sake of hating but most people are wanting to try this no matter their opinion on the game. After all, you never know what its going to be like until you yourself try it. Exactly why reviews are pointless.

As I said, there is a difference between it being #2 and hype. You can't call a game #2 before it's even coming out. I mean, Aion was #1 in hype before it came out and see where it is now...relatively successful, but not exactly #1 or two in popularity and numbers.
And yes, by all means, go and play it. I'm not saying it won't be a success. If they are any intelligent, they will polish it and make it a good game to play.

FACT: The #2 game in the last YEAR for HITS / Popularity is SW:TOR (Over the last year, popularity, check it yourself)
FACT: The #5 most HYPED game is SW:TOR. 5th place for one of the most expensive productions utilizing one of the worlds most popular IP's made by a developer beloved for it's story telling and excellent RPG's.
The WHOLE point here is that while this website likes to think it's SOOO into the more indie MMO's.. it's visitors are going to #1 WoW, and #2 SW:TOR.

lol at GW2. That game is nothing but an Item Shop / Battleground.
I hate battlegrounds, too. I despise them. They are sassy - everyone learns the best strat for each map and it becomes a rinse/repeat type thing.
I'll chill for a bit until they announce the World PvP ruleset.

I concur! You said it perfectly. Truth is, nobody knows what they will think of this game. You can bet your life savings that the haters WILL be watching all the YouTube videos... checking on this website and pondering whether they will purchase SW:TOR or not. Why? Because it's an MMO that demands any MMO lovers attention.

I tend to be on the opposite end. I like small team pvp matches especially mirror matches. In a mirror, you can show just how good you really are. Still, it would be nice to hear what Bioware's open world pvp is like.

Is that clear?
So when it gets to #5 it's hype and when, one year ago, it got #2, it wasn't hype? How can anyone judge a game that isn't even out based on anything but hype? explain.
First i want to say that i am going to play this game because i like Bioware Singelplayer-Games and
SWTOR probalby is a Bioware-Singleplayer-Game with some Online-Support. I dont play the game because
it is a MMOG.
But for those people who like to tell us that there are Warzones AND Open-PVP i just can say that it will be
possible in theory to have Open-PvP but like it happened in WoW Warzones will kill it until a point it is no more existant.
SWOTOR will be a fine Singleplayer-MMOG (Singleplayer-MMOG.... i know that word is a fault but thats what i do expect from Swtor *g*) but i dont expect it being anything more then a 3/10 if you look at its PVP and there will be no real Open-PVP even if it could happen in theory.
But for those people who like to tell us that there are Warzones AND Open-PVP i just can say that it will be
possible in theory to have Open-PvP but like it happened in WoW Warzones will kill it until a point it is no more existant.
What does that tell us? That a majority of players (in WOW) prefer warzones and battle-grounds opposed to open PVP?
The problem with what you're saying is, yes in WOW pvp almost exclusively happens in BG's. However look at AOC on it's PVP servers, BG's are almost non existent and world PVP is a lot more frequent.
It really depends on the types of players that join TOR. WIll a majority even be people looking for PVP at all ? {IMO not likely)
If what you're saying turns out to be, I wouldn't be surprised. Two faction PVP plays out a lot better in BG scenarios. No zergs, no ganking, etc.. The only worry is pre-mades, which really only has an effect on unguilded players.

Casual PVpers like BGS. Hardcore pvpers like Open world. Guess which user base they will tailor theyre game for?
Cmon now this seems silly. Obviously more care bear players exist over the hardcore minority. Its all about the $$$.=/
Edited because I saw the other release notes explaining world pvp. Seems I was slow on the draw. They might be looking to make both care bear and core player happy with different options for pvp.
I would have to say that most hard core PvP'rs are kids and young adults who have no clue what carpal tunnel is yet, but they will learn in time. A more relaxed PvP style would be enjoyed by a broader audience like where you can chose to take breaks as needed. Them running, jumping, spinning nerds will eventually grow up and learn that there is more to gameing than killing other people.
Its not enough that there is pvp in the game, devs gotta create the scenarios for these infants and provide ample rewards so they can feel like they accomplished something. And god forbid a player comes up with your own background and storyline. Nope, here comes anet and bioware to the rescue giving all the stunted kiddies their very own epic storyline! All you gotta do is follow the trail of crumbs and you too can have purpose and meaning in our glorfied beat em up hehe.
Of course im going way over the top, but you have to admit; the direction these games and gamers are going wih mmorpgs is pretty far from its origins.
See, people like you - with this I mean people using the same argument as you do here - seem to suffer from the affliction that I'd like to call 'booleanism': it's either 0 or 1, this or that.
According to these binary thinkers, or let's call them booleanists from here on, read something like 'PvP Warzones' and without further research or deliberation their mind switches to a conclusion, namely the exclusion of other features in a binary 'it must be this or that' kind of thinking.
Booleanists read 'there is storytelling integrated in that MMORPG', and their mind flash switches to the conclusion "oh, this must mean that the game is a singleplayer game/linear/no open worlds or leveling"
Booleanists read 'there are 8vs8 PvP warzones in that game', and hop, their mind speed rushed to the conclusion "oh, this means of course there is no open world PvP at all".
In their mindset there's no room for thinking that there might be more options, it's either this or that, never both or more. While it should be obvious that researching a bit more and taking a step back and thinking further about it, that the presence of PvP minigames and battlegrounds have hardly ever excluded open world PvP, both are present in quite a number of MMORPG's. Also the storytelling via a revamping of the quest mechanics, that's just one feature of an MMORPG, the questing, while an MMORPG has a lot of other features that each got their own attention.
Inclusion of PvP minigames/battlegrounds/War zones doesn't exclude the presence of open world PvP.
Inclusion of story enhanced, revamped quest mechanics doesn't exclude players being able to 'create their own stories' or follow their own paths.
Thinking that it does is a lack of imagination and ignoring the examples of the past.
I'm responding to this as a post in general, not as it pertains to Foomerang.
Bravo. Very well said.
That can be applied to a number of different mindsets.
PvP vs PvE
F2P vs P2P
Sandbox vs Themepark...
And on and on.
It drives me crazy how people will restrict themselves to these absolute definitions of everything and refuse to ever think outside the box they've built around themselves. Very little in this world falls into such absolutes... but damned if people don't try to force them anyway.
Anyways... +1 to that.

World PvP was announced and shown in a video before we knew about Warzones. Why are people ignoring it?

There is a difference in "hype" and it being #2 in popularity. And as you said, currently, SWTOR is neither on the top voted nor on the most popular list of MMORPG, at least not on #2. Let's talk about it being popular and successful AFTER it launched.
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
Is that clear?

We shall see how that plays out:).

Anyways... +1 to that.

They have already mentioned open world pvp would be available. I do not see any reason why you can not have both open world and BG / Arenas. Actually, I predict that SWToR will have all three types eventually. I like small team pvp where every decision and reaction counts rather than the traditional zerg of numbers.
World PvP was announced and shown in a video before we knew about Warzones. Why are people ignoring it?
