And anyways how much time do you spend looking at you charachter, i mean really looking. I at least get used to it very fast and then I almost dont notice it.
Only reason I play male (I am male IRL) cause I got used to it from single player games, where most main charachters are male. Also as new rpg comes out more and more often there is choices to make: romances, friendships, shaping the world and when I am playing male I can feel more like I am making choices, when I play female I feel like I am making choices for someone else.
I play males, because its what I am use to being, and its my comfort zone.
I feel a little creepy when someone flirts with me, thinking I am a female ( I do quests and such on my wifes characters sometimes).
I have nothing against people playing female toons though, or against anyone that may be gay/bi or whatever. Its just what I prefer...Played the witch elf in WAR, but you had no choice there.
There is no way to separate out people that think alike in a game that is open to the public.
It would be nice if the people that have their feet stuck on terra firma, and have no imagination, and want the player to be like the avatar had one game to play, and the people playing a game who don't really care about the person matching the avatar had another game to play, then everyone would be happy.
I am male and I play both male and female characters. Though I will say that if it is a melee non caster class, I will go male. If I go mage or healer, I will generally role female....

It depends. Did you dress up as a female Nurse for Halloween? If so, there might be some issues. If not, you're probably fine.

There are many reasons for doing so. I know I play Fiona in VIndictus because I'd rather play a balanced class rather than a full attack class.

Anyway, I play mostly male characters in my games, some female depending on the backstory on thier RP aspect. I dont play them to look at thier boobs, and I dont play them to be gay and pick up dudes. I make it 100% clear up front that I am male behind the keys. I dont wear womens clothes or play with barbies or dress up dolls or any of that stuff either. Mostly I play male character unless they look like total geeks or losers (WoW human males come to mind, seriously, why did they have to make them look so freaking stupid?) I'm also not insecure in my masculinity to where I have to worry how others may perceive me if they know I occasionally play a female character in the ROLE PLAYING COMPUTER GAME!

Im with u on thias one i love to paly with femail char espacially if it had nice a** , i played male chars at first when i started to play mmos but thats gey for me lol watching mans a** 24/7 .

EQ - male wood elf ranger, Female dark elf enchanter.
CoH/V - Male blaster, female scrapper
WoW- Male troll hunter, Female blood elf mage
To me character concept is more important than some backwards notion of gender bias. Writers don't write all male or all female casts in their stories, why they hell should I be limited to a particular gender to create a story for my character in a game?
Perhaps it's because I play actual P&P RPGs where character development is player driven, and gender could be part of a concept that makes a story pop more as one gender vs another.

eg in planetside i played a male since the female animations look weird. WoW I pretty much only play a female, because most of the male models look terrible, bar the orc and tuaren.
Aion, I played female, since all the male asian models look so queer. same with Warhammer...male swordmaster...err, yea...gay.
The argument about looking at malefemale ass is a bad one, I think anyone who actualy think about that has problems. You just play what you want to play, it's a game for gods sake.
