It looks very simular to Aion, that's undeniable. Looking further into the game it continues to look simular to Aion but with aim-based combat. PvE is just like Aion's from what I've seen. The classes although yes the names/spell animations are different the classes are essential the same.
It's Aion v2 + "we're focusing on action, guys, not just the graphics". But really, TERA is using a later visual engine of Aion, or something similar if I remember correctly. Plus, some of the developers for TERA also worked for Aion. To be honest, the only reason I check updates for TERA is because of its graphics, not whatever gameplay the developers are touting.

Lot of prejudice against Korean games oh well I guess that cannot be helped. Like many have pointed out the track record of the western games recently has been dismal.
I enjoyed Aion initially but I quit at 25 or so because I was just tired of trying to get the air mining thing done. I know stupid reason but I actually loved FFXI and I think games should be judged by game play not origin but we cannot really fight against people who just give blanket assertions that are not backed up by nothing more than their dislike. This is common you cannot change perceptions overnight.

Noooooooooooooop. Apart from having NCsoft ex-devs they also got blizzard devs and one of the three founders of ArenaNet.
I couldn't help notice the similarities. Graphics, it appears so far, will be one of the few things the two games will have in common.
What does that even mean. If you mean they both have good graphics then I guess you are right, but Aion has very dull colors and not even close to the lively enviroments TERA boasts.

If you look at any game with a similar art style you will notice similarities. Look at Rift, it seems very much like Warhammer as far as graphics. Is it a bad thing? No, it's just what they happen to look like.

Similar graphics usually doesn't mean similar art style. It means similar graphics. It mainly has to do with the engine.

Compared to what? Yes compared to mario 64, Tera looks a lot like Aion. And compared to the first zelda, SWTOR looks alot like WoW.
But aside from that, nah I don't think Tera looks like Aion. There are differences. It someone showed me a random clip of Tera or SWTOR (minus anything star wars-ish) I wouldn't think oh is this Aion and WoW? There are major differences in the graphics engine.

Good job missing the point of the post, sir.
Aion and TERA appear to have somewhat similar art style but not similar graphics. I didn't miss the point of the post cause there was never one in the first place.

Agreed, TERA and Aion don't have similar graphics.

When I look at Tera i don't see Aion, I see something new and fresh, especially with the combat system, though it's not new but rather re-invented.
EDIT: My bad. This uses the UT3 engine, not the CryEngine. Carry on.
