My suggestion to those trying, is from the main page, click the "News" tab. Set the filters to the week of the contest (So, when you try monday, set it to that week), and to the game "Rift" (duh). Then, when you refresh, it only shows relevant news posts, so it's easy to catch it when it comes up. Even still, unless you really intend to sit there refreshing a million times, in my case it was pure luck that I got home recently from work, came on the site, and refreshed maybe a dozen times in between reading other articles/threads in other tabs. I was caught off guard when it actually popped up on my last refresh, since I was about to quit and go on to other things. I really have no patience for this type of contest over a long time frame.

Yea i had netflix streaming movies going on on my second comp so i wasnt bored along with the news thread on auto refresh every 10 seconds in a smaller window. On my other comp screen i had both the news thread and MikeB's profile page (it shows his latest posts), both on auto refresh. I literally posted right after it showed up on my screen and still i ended up 60th. Glad i got my VIP key but good lord you either have to be a bot or literally spaming refresh with a fast connection and comp to get in under 100.
I will just wait until launch. I may even wait a week for community feedback. I have been burned to many times buying games at launch to find out they dont live up to the hype.
I thought i was post 134,but nope i was post 60 odd !!!!,my god the gods have been shineing on me today no need to pledge my soul to Satan anymore,phew !!
Guys. Take it for what it's worth. Sometimes I'm too honest or crabby in copywriting, but, mmorpg.com is aware or trying to be aware of who is naughty and nice....in other words, who is abusing the contest and who isn't.
This has nothihng to do with the general nature of the the key awarding process, other than that if your one in a sea of 200, and many before you have abused the contest, chances are they will be identified.
