That's 2 quests. WoW has legendary weapons too, and are really hard/time-consuming...how many do them? How many complain how hard they were? How many had the means? And how is that any different? I'm talking to the people who are complaining about easy quests.

they added epic quests for weapons to every class in eq1
just used the first ones as an example.
these werent quests to attain obscure metals in stupid ammounts like making a thundercaller in wow, these were quests of raiding bosses and stranger creatures in strange places to find clues and tid bits. no one held your hand, men went mad trying to complete them!
It's still just a small array of quests available. And are for hardcore players. So they're the same in difficulty sense, I'm sure plenty of people went crazy looking to make Thunderbringer only to fail. And as for 'no one held your hand', it sounds like fun...I'd say go do those then. But majority of quests aren't for amazing items, and if they are, even in WoW, they scale in difficulty. WoW has plenty of really fun quests people overlook because of the majority of 'easy' ones. It doesn't matter though. To the OP, yeah, haters won't come back because of quests, and if they left because of them, they're idiots.
Blizz needs to stop making the game for the Super Casuals and Hardcore Raiders, the second group may seem surprising, but the whole reason the whole leveling process is being made easier is because of these endgame nerds that hate leveling.
Blizz recently did something better, they made the quests in dungeons not hand out so much experience, small but at least it's something. However, some people started complaining, saying that they hated leveling, blah blah, and other people said "good job blizz I hated leveling pass everything," then the leveling haters said "Well, you can stop going in the dungeons, or can stop your xp gain, etc..." This is what is ruining wow, the leveling process should cater to the people that like leveling, not the haters. A person that likes leveling shouldn't have to pay 15g to stop leveling, a person that likes leveling shouldn't be unable to accept a quest, a person that likes leveling shouldn't have to skip a level appropriate dungeon. Blizz gave leveling haters heirlooms (which makes leveling 100Xs easier), which I thought was ok, the haters would pay for breezing through something they don't like. Haters could get addons that tell you step-by-step, literally, how to level the fastest. Now it's as if we have those 2 things built in the normal leveling process, even when I turn off my objective thing, an arrow points at books and crates that I need to pick up...anyone else disappointed that the big baddies that were once deep in dungeons, now are either not in the dungeon or right in the entrance of the dungeon...seriously Blizz. I wouldn't be surprised if blizz made us pay $20 to make us take 50% of the experience from killing and quests.
People that like leveling are just playing the game right now because:
1. They want to see how the world has changed.
2. They want to see how stories have progressed.
3. They like the slightly new quest mechanics.
After they go through this once, they won't return. If blizz keeps this up, they will lose a substantial number of subscribers, I predict in Februaruy or March, after the newness wears off, all you WoW haters can rejoice at seeing the first huge decline in WoW history, will they lose 6million people, no, but maybe a million. The Alt crowd is quite large, and really they aren't going to get the same amount of newbies that usually offset the people leaving. What gets you into a game? The beginning, and if the beginning is stupidly easy, why would you stay? I wouldn't be surprised if Hello Kitty is harder now.

Opinions to the max. Why can't you just accept the fact Blizzard does their research and that's why WoW is still around? They wouldn't do something that's unhealthy for their company. Your opinion is minority, I'm sorry to say. And for that second part...do you have any common sense? If WoW is contoured to casual players, a non-easy starting would get them so much less in terms of people staying...If the beginning is not stupidly easy, you'll get frustrated in leave...and by you, I mean the populace. It's like people keep pushing for something they know they can't get, it's stupidly funny. Asking an MMO that caters to all people to do something you want is not worth it unless you know it's the perfect formula.
I saw videos and posts and such of the Goblin starting zone. I'm sure it's really easy, the quests and the start...But what does that even matter? The point of a game, from a gamer's standpoint, is FUN. You want to have fun. And yet you're caught up on "omg this is so easy how can i even have fun if its so easy i cant play a game unless its challenging at all points omg wow sucksss!" Yet because WoW caters to many playstyles, you'd give up right away. That goblin starting zone and many starting quests are an introduction. An introduction eases you into a game. Movies, books, EVERYTHING does that. How can you expect to start WoW and be thrown into Deathwing immediately? I like a challenge as much as anyone, but honestly, if a quest is easy but unique or innovative and introduces me to lore and has enough sense of fun, I could care less about it's difficulty level. Change your focus to a more game standpoint, and if not, play some game that is hard right away and doesn't tell you anything about the game...but I guarantee you start looking for help online sooner or later. Just try to enjoy a game for what it is, not what you think it should be while completely overlooking so many aspects. If you don't like WoW lore and many of the aspects of the game, it's definitely not for you. I for one enjoy the lore, quests, and anything. Even just talking about it is fun, haha. Just ENJOY GAMES.
The thing is DBG..... WoW has changed significantly over the past 6 years.. Take a look at the dungeons and raids.. went from 40 man raids and open world bosses to 10 man raids now and it's still changing.. SO when people voice what they want, and sometimes voice it with their wallets.. Sometimes companies are FORCED to listen to their customers.. It's business, and if enough customers get together to voice their desire for change with their money I can guarantee you that changes will happen faster then YOU can say.. " I quit"..
So many times posters like myself start a post wanting change and if we spark enough interesting, and the people start demanding it.. IF WILL HAPPEN.. It's just that simple

This is only true to an extend if we look at Blizzard's history.
Despite growing in sub size in the Wrath period, Blizzard has made Cata more difficult.
Just because people start demanding they get legendaries if they log in doesn't mean Blizzard will do it.
I'd be surprised if any game company will throw their game away like that no matter what the customers demand.

OH.. but they will jpnz.. I'm a big advocate of removing the ID lockout feature from the game.. It's only purpose is to make the game a timesink, and in the process causes harm to the community that results in un-needed drama.. GW2 is coming out with a new raid concept (well not sure how new it is) but if it works out as well as they hope.. I'm sure customers in WoW will demand something similar.. If enough LEAVE WoW to go play GW2 or similar, Blizzard will listen.. They may not entirely dump what they have pushed, but they will have to adjust.. You start losing a few million $$ a month, which means people have to be laid off.. That HURTS and will sting deep, especially to those that were pink slipped.. They will NOT go quietly into that good night..

You are going to have to explain the 'harm' and 'un-needed drama' to the community cause I don't see it.
Last I checked, ID lockout was there back in the MC days and is still around.
While there have been variations to it (25/10 seperate, now same) it worked for 6 years and players expect it.
I personally am for it, cause the whole 'lets run the same raid, 10 man then 25 man on the same week' BS got old really really fast in Wrath.

I love the new quests, and it's brought several of my friends back to WoW. If fact, almost all of them ALWAYS come back after leaving.
Let's look into the "new" mmorpg crystal ball.
1. New mmorpg is announced. "Ooh, that looks really good. I hope it's better than WoW because I'm bored."
2. New mmorpg beta is started. "This is awesome...it's so much cooler than wow and here are 2345 reasons why and it has *insert innovative feature* PLUS it has more polygons...wow sux! LONG LIVE *insert fantasy theme park mmorpg name*"
3. New mmorpg is launched. Chat is as follows "I used to play wow, but that game is for babies and kids..this is a real game lolz. Let's make a guild...hey Jablonski, you wanna join my guild? Yay! Growth..things are happening now!"
4. New mmorpg is in it's 2nd month..."where is jablonski...he hasn't logged in for like 4 days? Why is my guild falling apart?!?"
5. /sigh, log back into WoW after 3 months and think "Hey, this is smooth...and fun...why did I leave this game again?"

You are going to have to explain the 'harm' and 'un-needed drama' to the community cause I don't see it. Let me open your eyes to the big neon glowing sign.. that signage being "GEAR SCORE".. That little piece of drama directly stems from the ID system.. You ask how.. People refuse to get ID's to a bad group, or one that can't complete the desired goal or task.. Therefore to minimize that risk of wasting a week's ID lockout, players optimize by selecting their best option.. Currently unless you know someone personally, the only available tool players have to measure risk vs reward is gear score.. Gear means much more to the success of a dungeon then the people in the raid group..
Last I checked, ID lockout was there back in the MC days and is still around. Yep, sure is, never said it wasn't

I personally am for it, cause the whole 'lets run the same raid, 10 man then 25 man on the same week' BS got old really really fast in Wrath. Which is different then what I'm saying.. You are talking about repeating the same dungeon over and over, gets OLD.. Agreed.. running the same 5 man's over and over get old.. However, I do have the option to pugging one 5 man, and IF that fails, I can do it again with another by resetting it.. NO risk for being in a bad 5 man.. Don't people ask why the 5man are treated different then the 10/25 mans.... Speaking of fairness, teh servers reset on Tues.. and if you are busy ALL week with real life obligations, by the time the weekend comes around when some might play, the ODDS and chances of you finding good players to raid with are very limited.. Why? Because everyone has already been ID to that raid and unable to help. Do you really call that a fair and good system? Is the ID lockout really socialable, or is it just tool ignored by the raiding elitist to keep one step ahead of others?

Wow. So many wrongs. Where do I start?
So let me get this straight.
This is all on 'pugs' right? Like your entire issue is only when you 'pug'.
Ever heard of a 'guild'? Cause last I checked 'pugs' ain't going nowhere in Cata. If heroics are any indication Cata raids are gonna eat 'pug' raids for breakfast.
What was that new feature coming into Cata? Oh yeah! Guild leveling system/achivements. It is fairly obvious that Cata is going to push people to join guilds in a huge way so the whole 'GS4800+ for Heroic' is a non-issue.
And please, gear > skill in WoW? There was a guild that got LK down using nothing but TBC gear or something.
While gear can compensate for lack of skill, even in Wrath; Skill > Gear.
Lastly, 'tool ignored by the raiding elitist to keep one step ahead of others?' is factually wrong. If there was no ID Lockout, the 'raiding elitist' is going to be miles ahead cause they'll keep on farming the raids.
Happy Holidays indeed.

This is all on 'pugs' right? Like your entire issue is only when you 'pug'. Nope.. applies to guilds too, which is a sister matter, but now that you brought it up.. we'll discuss it a bit and HOW Blizzard tried to cure the cancer of guild hopping
Ever heard of a 'guild'? Cause last I checked 'pugs' ain't going nowhere in Cata. If heroics are any indication Cata raids are gonna eat 'pug' raids for breakfast. All rumors and hype.. NO one knows anything about what Cata dungeons and raids will be like.. Lets hold off assuming beta testers know what actually goes LIVE..
What was that new feature coming into Cata? Oh yeah! Guild leveling system/achivements. It is fairly obvious that Cata is going to push people to join guilds in a huge way so the whole 'GS4800+ for Heroic' is a non-issue. Glad to see you bring up guild leveling and perks.. lol That is exactly Blizzards attempt to cure the cancer called "guild hopping".. Blizzard is aware of this issue and is addressing it by allowing guilds to OFFER perks to those members that stay IN the guild and earn faction to recieve those perks.. Problem is.. which EVEN Blizzard devs admited they are unsure how this will unfold.. That reason is because the main reason why people guild hope is because playes often join a guild in hopes they will be able to run dungeons and raids.. In reality, most are NEVER invited to primary runs because the primary raid group is ID'd for the week, and those that sit on the bench waiting their turn, never get their shot, and often have to pug late in the week (normally the weekend).. I have been in many pugs and guess what? Almost 90% of those players are weaing a GUILD TAG.. which means they are not getting the RAID runs you think they're getting.. LOL
And please, gear > skill in WoW? There was a guild that got LK down using nothing but TBC gear or something.
While gear can compensate for lack of skill, even in Wrath; Skill > Gear. LK killed by people wearing Burning Cruisade gear? PLULEEEZ be real.. That is impossible.. period..
Lastly, 'tool ignored by the raiding elitist to keep one step ahead of others?' is factually wrong. If there was no ID Lockout, the 'raiding elitist' is going to be miles ahead cause they'll keep on farming the raids. You contradict yourself.. FIRST you say that if you are in a guild.. your guild members will help you with raids and dungeons.. So if that is true, why the need for the elitist to farm the instances with no ID and NOT help their fellow guildies.. Sorry to point that little bit of double talk..
Happy Holidays indeed. dont' forget Season Greetings too

Lets look at the points raised logically.
In a guild, you don't look at GS. So the whole 'People only look at GS!' point is moot.I'm sorry if your guild did but the raid leader and your guildies should know whether you are a good player or not without looking at GS.
So because it isn't LIVE yet, you think it'll drastically change from what Blizz has been saying/shown ever since it was announced a year ago? That 5mans are getting harder? Some of my friends are on the beta so yes, I have seen it. You are seriously clutching at straws with that argument.
If the player can't be bothered to schedule so he/she shows up at X time on X day with 9/24 other people then I don't see an issue. Why should the other 9/24 people wait for that one person exactly?
Don't you join guilds that raid in a time where you can mostly make it? I mean logically thinking that's what people do right?
Just because they have a guild tag doesn't mean they didn't raid with their guilds. I had to pug on my alts too or my main if I had Real Life stuff and couldn't make it that week.
Gdemami - Informing people about your thoughts and impressions is not a review, it's a blog.

Guild sure do LOOK at your gear to see if you are capable of running that raid.. give me a break.. If I'm a level 80 dressed in blues and a purple or two..They are going to laugh at me when I sign up for next week's ICC run.. lol I'm sorry if your guild did but the raid leader and your guildies should know whether you are a good player or not without looking at GS.

If the player can't be bothered to schedule so he/she shows up at X time on X day with 9/24 other people then I don't see an issue. Why should the other 9/24 people wait for that one person exactly? And if 32 people sign up for Tues nights ICC run, what then?
Don't you join guilds that raid in a time where you can mostly make it? I mean logically thinking that's what people do right? And we are back to square one.. People log on.. all raids slots filled and the only way the "2nd stringers" get into the action is iff a primary didnt' show up.. And I know all about the dragon point system, which ORIGINATED back from EQ1 era.. FYI
Just because they have a guild tag doesn't mean they didn't raid with their guilds. IT sure as hell does mean that.. IF you show up in a pug with a guild tag, It tells me you did NOT run this raid when the rest of your guild did. Which backs me up.. Why are you unable to raid with your guild members? Because there was no room for you, or they are already ID'd and unable to help that toon out..... doesn't matter if it's your main toon or an alts.. I had to pug on my alts too or my main if I had Real Life stuff and couldn't make it that week. TY for backing me up.. Why couldnt' your ALT run with the guild the first time around? Raid slots already filled by 'primary main" toons.. And the only way your alt sees any guild action is "Guild Alt" runs. or primary mains are no shows..

So your guildies have no idea what you won from a raid, or what kind of gear you have?
What kind of a guild is this?
Only exception is if you just joined a new guild.

I mean surely if '2nd stringers' problem is as bad as you make it out to be, there must be heaps of people with this issue so forming a 10man won't be hard right?
No, my main char (priest) did his run with my guild but I have other chars (like my mage). Normally it is those 'other chars' that show up on the 'pug' raids.

So your alt does pugs, which earlier you said was a JOKE? ha ha ha You're cracking me up dude.. lol Which is it.. pugs are bad? or pugs are ok? Make up your mind.. You just got done spewing to me that pugs are bad and join a guild.. lmao As or raids.. I have 6 (SIX) 80's with 5 of them in ICC ready gear.. priest, pally, hunter, mage, warlock and DK.. The DK is my least favorite so she is only dressed in Naxx stuff.. I didn't player her much.. So which guild out there allows me to raid all 6 maxed toons in the same week? Cause I hate to do pugs.. LOL
Does yours? and which one is it.. I'll resub and transfer my ICC toons to your guild.. Cause I know you wouldn't deceive me.. I'll be expecting 6 runs a week.. unless I level another alt to 85.. LOL Deal?

Ahhh dont' go away mad.. I want to be where you are.. Please tell what guild and server you're on, so I can come enjoy the raids with you
Rydeson, seeing as you can't comprehend how normal raiding guilds run, I'll try to explain it to you as I have been everything from a simple raider to a classleader, raidleader and guild master. First and foremost you base your guild on people you know and trust, giving trials to anyone you and/or the officers deem appropriate. Handling the recruitment/attendance/etc of each class is usually given to a classleader. One person can be a classleader of more then just one class, so as to lower the ranks of officers. He must know the class he's leading thought.
Recruitment doesn't follow: "Eh let's recruit a random number of people. Don't care for gear or experience. It's for lulz so they sit out anyway," but usually follow what t he guild lacks. If guild is lacking priests, they shall recruit priests. Else there's no point if you already have 5-6 priests showing up to raids. This will only cause anger. If one class is particulary rare the officers consider recruitng a lower geared charater or consider one of the raiders in a class that is overpopulated to reroll (people are usually very glad to change roles and ask for rerolls all the time anyway. Thought such practices often lead to disstress among other guild members who also want to reroll), sometimes even running lower tier raids to allow this individual to catch up, gear-wise, to the rest of the guild.
Your raiding core must, and this is essential, must be equally geared. And this doesn't just mean the same 25 people get the spot all the time, winning all the phat lewt You you do a rotation around each class, so each person gets a spot once in a while, sometimes even changing people in the middle of the raid, depending on what they need from a certain boss.
So if 32 people sign up, the 7 who are left outside and wait until needed. Guilds are a social structure and they can only work/succeed if people are willing to work as a team and not as an indivudual. And this stuff does not apply to WoW only.
And as far as alts go, guilds do alt runs, sometimes even multiple or in cooperation with other guilds, once they have the current raiding content on farm...
Oh while on the subject of Beta. The instances are harder. I should know, I've tried some of them. If you want proof, I can provide ofcourse.

Ha Ha Ha.. This is funny stuff.. "Recruitment?" "Core raiding group'? The whole time I read that , the only thing that came to mind was JOB JOB JOB JOB.. You recruit friends? I don't.. but I guess I'm weird like that.. lmao I had to laugh at the comment that the 7 people have to be team players and wait on the bench? Really? and Next week a different 7 will set out.. ROTATING everyone in the guild so NO ONE is left out..
As I said and ya'll keep proving me right.. WoW is nothing more then an EPEEN E-sport game.. TY and Happy Holidays
Well what did you expect? That leading a guild will be like ordering pizza? It's never simple to organize and lead a number of people. Sure it might be a lot like your second job if you're the leader. But guess what, some people enjoy leading. I know I've met some, even had moments where I enjoyed it quite a lot. Ofcourse you try to recruit your friends. These are the people you know, have probably raided with them before, know how capable they are. That doesn't mean you'll just invite your whole friend list in. My brother plays WoW and while he enjoys it, he doesn't have the time to throw himself into serious raiding. As much as I'd like, I'd never consider giving him a spot on the raid team. He doesn't have the experience nor the gear. He's more then welcome to join the alt runs if he wants thought.
As far as the rotation goes. I'm just gonna assume you misunderstood me or I didn't elaborate on this point enough. You must always have excess people in mind, when planning a raid/raiding guild. You can't afford to expect to have 25 people, all with 100% attendance. Hell, you can't expect something like that from 10 people. It's unreasonable. Even the most hardcore guilds know this. You have to have more people available, so you can always expect a full raid. One of the worst things to happen to raiding guilds is when there aren't enough people showing up for raids. When you can afford to have standbys you're more then ok. But I'm not talking about a full raid group of standbys. Just some people, i.e. 7 as in my previous example. See, the loot inside the guild is usually distributed via the dkp system. I believe it originates from EQ. It's basically an internal currency for distributing the loot. The more active you are, the more dkp you recieve, the more dkp you have to burn it on items. Now to be fair to the people outside, you don't just say to them: "Eh go wank or something, we don't need you." They are standbys. That means, that at anytime in raid time one can be called for, to replace someone else for whatever reason. Standbys also recieve the same amount of dkp as the people doing the killing inside the instance. It is not, afterall, their fault they were left behind. They get their chance to prove their worth soon enough.
The guilds work by ranks afterall. With GM and officers at the top. Usually there's also a raider rank, for people who show they know how to raid and can be relied upon to sign up to a majorty of raids. The initiates and trials are usually the ones getting benched in favor of raiders. Advancement through ranks is simple. Signup and don't suck when you're in the raid. This process usually weeds out the baddies. Every signup is usually noted and people notice if you are eager and skilled.
Oh and before you go off: "Ohh how can initiates and trials prove themselves if they are benched all the time? Ha Ha Ha Ha." That is the business of the officers/class leaders. They need to take care that the right people get in, that trials get properly tested. Raiders are often quite glad to pass a spot to a lower rank on bosses they don't need.
If you thought you could just band together a handful of people and stroll of to ICC, one shotting everything, you are sadly very much mistaken, as much as, and I have to admit it, ICC is easy. This is what is usually called a pug, and most of the time fails before even killing saurfang, unless it's one of those fancy multihighend guild alt raids. But those people usually already know how this works.
You strike me as the guy who just goes memememe all the time. I'm not trying to be insulting or anything, but that's just what your replys read to me.
Shameless edit to be on topic: I adore the new quests. They are really fun and a find myself reading through them more often then not. I am leveling a mage and the quests have really immersed me in the world. Totally love the new world.

paladin/shadowknight epic weapon quests
1 year+ to complete if you had the support
you actually felt like you accomplished something
That's 2 quests. WoW has legendary weapons too, and are really hard/time-consuming...how many do them? How many complain how hard they were? How many had the means? And how is that any different? I'm talking to the people who are complaining about easy quests.
In response to the topic title, no.
they added epic quests for weapons to every class in eq1
just used the first ones as an example.
these werent quests to attain obscure metals in stupid ammounts like making a thundercaller in wow, these were quests of raiding bosses and stranger creatures in strange places to find clues and tid bits. no one held your hand, men went mad trying to complete them!
-I want a Platformer MMO

6. Keep waiting for a new game.
Happy Holidays..
