Mourning- Unethical Business and Horrid Game

The problem with reporting to the BBB and FBI Internet fraud division is CCBill so far has been adamant about simply not caring and not offering refunds as they are against "policy" (among MANY other horror stories I hear about CCBill). Also, Mourning LLC is located in Romania, so the BBB/FBI and such are practically useless.

Basically, anyone who bought into this is out their money, and the Mourning folks won't survive past 3 months, at BEST, but will undoubtedly blame it on their lead guy not working (he's on vacation due to 'sicknes'...yeah, so sick you can't type? Give me a break).

Lots of people download the game client now. I did it myself, since the game idea sounds great. However I'm not gonna start playing/paying, before (if ever) there is more positive posts about it.

Why are you getting the game then? There will never be positive posts about Mourning - at least not from anyone who is a decent MMORPG gamer. Supporting this kind of rip-off is what causes ever more problems in the gaming industry. Companies get away with shipping crap and the customers have to deal with it. This is the perfect case where you can make a stand and say "No!" to such business practices.

Please learn to read. I did not say it was false. I did not say that it wasn't. My point is, whether it is or it isn't, there are enough undisputed facts about this game that I personally would not play it.

That's classic. If they want to play it that way, just use this address to link to this thread on the Mourning forums...

mmorpg.com stopped showcasing Mourning because they had a bad relationship with the devs. That was a really poor precedent imo. They had no idea about the state of Mourning nor were they doing it to 'protect fans from the game'.

Cute how people spin it off now though.

  • twhinttwhint Member UncommonPosts: 559

You might want to check out your own 'spin'. As I recall, Mourning was removed because the developers of Mourning were demanding that MMORPG release information about posters on this site for posting negative comments about Mourning, then threatened legal action when they were refused.

They were also removed for their general practices of banning anyone who had negative comments, deleting entire posts, and other forms of censorship of posts that spun their game in any sort of negative light.

As this is a 3rd party site, they are more than within their bounds to do so. You can claim this sets a dangerous precedent, but it really doesn't. This site is made up of the community, with very little input from the mods and such. The rating system is based on the people from the community, not the mods. The bulletin boards are patrolled by the mods, but don't have the censorship of other sites, with deleted posts dealing with illegal content and personal attacks mostly.

It all boils down to this: If you don't agree with this site, then don't come to it. It's your freedom of choice, just as it was theirs to remove Mourning from the listing.

Here's the text from the news blurb about Mourning's removal:

    MMORPG.COM News : Mourning Removed
    Date : Mar 21, 2005
    Author : Craig McGregor
Today MMORPG.com has made the difficult decision to remove the game "Mourning" from our list of MMORPG's as well as shut down our Mourning specific forums.

We would like to clarify that this decision was not based on the actions of any community members at MMORPG.com - rather our core feelings about the company publishing and funding this project, and the way they treat us and their community.

As always, we would like to encourage our community to comment on this news post and let us know how you feel.

Thanks to all of our members you for your continued support of MMORPG.com.

Pls ceck the thread PM'ng on stickies for other problems u have with our game.
    tyvm

No, it had nothing to with mourning wanting it to take it of mmorpg.com. It had to do with the Mourning Dev sending nasty mail to the mmorpg mods(look back in this topic, egomancer comes to our site to make fun of our mods) and threating to sue mmorpg.com members that were speaking out againist mourning. The Mods of Mourning made up a lie(due to embressiment) that they "wanted" it removed from the site later on. It would have been logical for mourning to want to take there game off the BIGGEST MMORPG SITE ON THE NET. Later, they admited that was a lie. The MMORPG.com Staff also said it recieved no request to take down the mourning forum or the mourning off the site, and it was a lie by the mourning group. How about you learn to read, and fully read topics.

"- rather our core feelings about the company publishing and funding this project, and the way they treat us and their community."

Now if this doesn't reflect that mmorpg.com felt that mourning was rotten at the core- what does?

"We would like to clarify that this decision was not based on the actions of any community members at MMORPG.com"

Kinda refutes that that it was due to negative comments.

What did I tell you? lol, everytime someone supports a game like Mourning, this encourages other devs to do the same.::::21::

Well Derfel look on the brightside... you have created the longest running thread Ive seen in ages. Probably a more successful thread than Mourning is a game image

I got to say this sounds like a bunch of carebare bullshit on this forum. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I would rather spend my money on a longshot instead of all these games that are intentionally broken for the masses.

No Pizza hes not even that...

Just another one-post wonder fresh from the mourning forums looking to justify in his own mind the massive mistake he made by giving them money.

Either that or its yet another alter ego of Tiamat, Ego or Julie Blue..... who are all probably one and the same person anyway.

About as poor as supporting to pay for a game in Beta and allowing your pre-orders to be charged before product was finished and launched, and shipped? Who is doing the spin Herithius?

I tell you, if I was able to pull off something like this I would be a millionaire.

Think of it. Didn't you ever have this great idea for a business, but you lack the funding to start it? Or this new great product you wanna make, but you have no means of producing it... What would be the solutiuon?

Get your clients to pay for it in advance!!! Promise that you will have this great product ready to deliver in a few months, all these people need is to pre-order it to guarantee that they are the first to receive it... Promise them this world and the other... and "Voil

    I got a wicked idea.

Why dont you all grow up and get lives.

You all look like the biggest  haters around. image

Half the stuff posted in this thread is completely made up and biased to the core.

I also find it hard to believe how something could be labeled as a scam or unethical when anyone who ordered got a "REFUND" if they wanted one. Oh but of course no one likes to mention things like that because it would upset the little lame hate parade of pre pubescent rejects we have going here. image

As for CCbill..  they are probably the largest billing company around, handle millions of orders monthly and have won multiple awards for billing services already..

Give it up. Your preaching to the wind.

Even looks like mmorpg.com is getting sick of its own users now. High time for that. image

  • strousestrouse Member Posts: 114

the pre orders were not even handled by the company or the developers that are building the game. It was handled by a completely different company. they're not even involved with them anymore.. they handle billing themselves now with ccbill... which just shows they had been involved with a crappy company to handle their stuff and are now doing it themselves.

as far people saying the game is horrible.. they're full of it.. Shadowbane was horrible.. Mourning is a beautiful looking game with lite features at this point but its got major potential for some great PvP if they get in all their intended stuff..

What are you smoking? IF you consider having to do a charge-back a refund, then yes, everyone got a refund.

On a side note, I hope you are atleast getting paid by the creative folks at mourning for talking out your backside and making no sense image

In the end, the only opinion that matters is mine...
