Though I don't agree with your conclusion, I do mirror it's basic sentiment.  There definitely seems to be something lacking in GW2, but there was something lacking in GW and it was widely popular, so lots of people are going to enjoy it.

Personally I am much more looking forward to playing a mult-person Bioware game, but to each his own, and I'll undoubtedly at least try GW2.

I guess the modified quote would be more suited for SW:TOR but I dont think many are expecting any truly innovative, in regards to MMORPGs, to come from Biowares first MMORPG.

Except for being fully-voiced acted, adding to immersion. Except for dialogue decisions that alter storylines and can't be changed. You may not be excited about these features, but you cannot say they are not innovative or have been done before.

Before I get accused of rabid fandom, I am actually more excited for GW2, but looking forward to TOR also. I just couldn't let him dismiss TOR as being nothing new, because it is, even if it isn't new in the way some of you want.

Funny, that footage was exactly what made me decide I had no interest whatsoever in this game. I felt like I was looking at just another one of those F2P asian crap games that we're being bombarded with.

We'll have to see how it works out- anticipation has nothing to do with how the actual game will be received anyway, it's more a matter of hype than anything which is ultimately meaningless.

While initially I was far more interested in SW:TOR the more I have come to know about the game the more it just seems like KoTOR 3: the Don't Pirate Me Edition. Just screams single player online game with some extraneous grouping capabilities.

NCSoft is only the publisher, the game is made by ArenaNet

Also please please expand on why you think it's soulless, shallow and ultimately a very unsatisfying experience.

I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about. Honestly I can't help but believe you have never seen that footage.

Either people were like me, or were not aware of the vote or maybe just thought it may get delayed into 2012 or maybe it is because it is expected to be another free MMO whereas SWTOR will have some form of payment model.

I have zero interest in GW2, I'm not even going to try it.

Lol, why are you making excuses for SWTOR's ranking?

    This is not a game.

I know the footage is not amazingly mind-blowing but.....where did you get that from? And your earlier statement about NCsoft? Jeez man, are you sure you don't just have a hate thing going on for NCsoft?

    This is not a game.

This was expected. However i wasn't expecting GW2 to beat SWTOR with such a considerable amount of margin.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible

What a surprise. Go back to when GW2 was just a name and TOR still had the hype train rolling strong and the results would be flipped. Now that A-Net is proclaiming GW2 as the most innovative thing since sliced bread (see, that works better than "best thing since sliced bread") and has shown us pretty polished footage, they're on top of the hype pile. TOR will pick up again as we get closer to spring and BioWare releases more videos/substantial info, which they've been steadily doing over the last few months/weeks. A-Net will likely respond with more of how their game will be the most innovative thing since sliced bread.

Let's hope GW2 doesnt end up like GW1, of the Hype will Wither N Die..

As for BioWare, they are taking a huge leap into the future of MMO's give them time to bloom and see what comes of it..

SWToR - Mass Effect MMO - there even might be a Dragon Age Online..

Yay! The sequel to my favourite MMO has won.

I'll be playing both Star Wars and Guild Wars of course.

    They both deserve it methinks.

  • erictlewiserictlewis Member UncommonPosts: 3,022

Wow dcuo inder 4%,  thats a shocker considering how much love its gotten on this site lately, and how much the fan boys been protecting it.

Now gw2 being in top hmmm thats interesting as well.

  • GinazGinaz Member RarePosts: 2,572

Not really a surprise considering the number of GW2 fanboys and shills on this site.  I'll probably play it but then get bored with it quickly just like I did with GW1.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

  • reanorreanor Member UncommonPosts: 441

GW2 is hyped a lot more on MMORPG.COM than SWTOR. In fact, there is very little hype about SWTOR since Bioware doesn't release work in progress videos. I think ArenaNet released about 15 videos already showing all kind of stuff from GW2. Either Bioware is keeping it quiet to itself and working on a surprise or SWTOR is simply not ready for this kind of reveal just yet.

Thing is some people who played GW2 already say that while there are some additional features in game it still feels like the GW1, just better graphics. I don't believe that GW2 will in the end be anything else than just another MMO after everyone tries it out WHENEVER it comes out. And guess whats gonna happen then - yup, people will move to SWTOR. There is no need to compete for these 2 games.

GW2 is free to play and SWTOR is 15$ a month. Can easily play both. Unless SWTOR is release like months after GW2 - I don't think I'll be even buying GW2 until I really get bored with blasters and lightsabers in SWTOR.

anyone who felt empty with GW1 has zero imagination.

the only thing that GW1 left me feeling was omg awesome with the cut scenes.

in GW1 i has by far the best guild experience ever, the closest streak of high level PvP (was a caller for HoH spike groups as well has under 200 GvG) as well as one of the greatest PvE experiences (i still remember the first asura dungeon where you just randomly saw that boulder come racing down the walkway...ugh pure excitment in listening to 7 other dudes go ohh what the fu*k)

now do I think some people are holding GW2 on such a high horse that it will fall off : yes i do

do I believe that GW2 will fail do to this :no  not even close because if GW2 has any mass appeal i believe that it could become a huge game

SWTOR don't have any thing truly innovative? U must be joking or u don't know any thing about SWTOR.

  • jayartejayarte Member UncommonPosts: 450

I've been waiting for GW2 for years now since I first heard rumours of it.  I enjoyed GW, but always felt that it could be better.  GW2 will hopefully be that improved version and all the features they've added have increased my sense of anticipation.  The game itself coupled with the payment model (buy original game and any expansions, but no subscription) is exactly what I'm looking for.

Having beta tested Rift, that game is now a close second for me; but the payment model (buy original game, plus monthly subscription) is not my first choice.

Top 5 WoW clones..and WoW's graphic are better than TOR or DC..

  • YarlyYarly Member Posts: 53

That was expected.  GW2 is the only reason I go on this site :P

    Guild Wars 2!

  • sbvortexsbvortex Member UncommonPosts: 1

Kinda funny seeing how some people are crying about SWTOR not being the winner, bashing on GW2, while others defend GW2.

Well let me tell you a simple secret. The most probable scenario is that both games will be succesfull, attracting different player base. Both games are being developed by great companies.

I however am mainly going for GW2, because after 5-6 years i still think GW1 is the best thing out there. Lightyears ahead of other MMOs in sooo many aspects...

  • InkpuppetInkpuppet Member Posts: 38

Honestly GW2 has from moment one delivered what the MMO community needs, a better concept on delivering a quality product while working towards something new conceptually.  Yes as gamers Star Wars always holds a special place in our hearts, but this game doesn't look ground breaking in the same way GW2 will be.
