Yes boy's, I'm gonna take a leap of faith. Yea the beta vid looks like @$#% but the core of the game is what matters to me. And yes, theres not much to go on as there will be no open beta. But I'm tired of playing games that have been around for a long time, and this is an opportunity to be a part of something at the start that has so much potential.

Besides, my gf is going on vaca with her parents from the 31 Dec thru to the 12th of Feb.. ER release is the 4th. That  gives me ..ummm... a bunch of days to not worry about anything other than ER and feeding the cat!!  It's an act of GOD!!!

I bought a Cryptic game...

ER will not disappoint.

Im going to give it a shot too.  I can remember another space themed sand box I so dearly loved that got ruined - heres to hoping Earthrise can fill my scifi sandbox hole that has been left untouched for the last couple of years.

    I lol'd, personally.

I think I might do to. Unless it's a real dog I should get a months entertainment out of it. I guess it's going to release sandwiched bedtween DCUO & Rift, I can't see much longevity in those.

Having said that I suspect it may well be buggy and incomplete.

Same, dropping the dime for it.

  • Hellrazor27Hellrazor27 Member Posts: 55

Heres the deal with Earthrise IMO.At launch this game will be buggier then Darkfall (hopefully it wont be so hard to get at launch as DF was ),the intial saleswill be good for a nitche game but over time the people that can't put up with the bugs or just the game itself will drop off leaving the people that know it potential and the people that are just fans.Overtime the game will get better and people will come back and play but this could take up to a year, only time will tell if the game can withstand this.Population will be a factor as well , meaning they need to market the game and let peole know its out there , with the info on the game i'm sure only people that have been fallowing it know of it.Hopefully it all works out , lord knows I need a good si-fi MMO (sick of elves and dworfs , I miss Neocron ) .

Of course there is 'buggy but fun' and 'buggy and omg this is driving me absolutely crazy /ragequit'. Sadly with DF it was the latter for me, I could forgive many of the technical issues but some of the out and out poor 'design' decisions I could not.

Lets hope Earthrise is of the former category.

Buying this will make you a sad panda I assure you guys.

Before spending a dime on this "game". Wait until the NDA is lifted, the game is public and Masthead unveils it's attempt at an MMO.

Until then, I'd advise you NOT to pre-order, if and when this becomes available. February is neally upon us and I personally can't wait for Masthead to reveal Earthrise, not that they will.

    Buy it .. I am.

It will only make you sad if you don't like this type of game.  It's not for everyone.

I am really, really interested in this game based on what I have read about it, beta video was not the best but not terrible either. But I am not going to blindly drop the money on it without seeing way more and better video on it and/or getting a chance to test it out. I have been disappointed quite a bit or at the least let down by plenty of AAA and indie games the last couple years, so no more leap of faiths for me, finanaces are too tight lately for me to drop the money on a game I end up not playing after the first month. Still, I am really intersted in the concept of this game and what it seems to be about.

I find this game interesting, too, but I'm going to wait.

When I read  "potential" in these posts, it just reminds me too much of Mortal Online.

Im with you on this one.

Sure the running animations were laughable bad, but I didn't think the video was near as bad as everyone else. I'll be getting the game.

I decided to read the unofficial FAQ to see what all the fuss is about... They stole all my ideas!

Well not really, as I never published any of my ideas, but pretty much everything they said Earthrise will be / have is what I would describe as my 'perfect' MMO. Whether it all comes together in practice is another story.

Still, I basically have to get Earthrise, even if just to give some support to a developer willing to give all these ideas a try, so I'll see everyone else taking the leap of faith on launch day :)

Edit: Order Placed... and now we play the waiting game.

I'm desperate for a scifi MMO in a sandbox (thats NOT EVE) so I guess I'll drop a dime too, but sheesh that beta vid looks like crap!

    Current Games: WOW, EVE Online

I didn't think the video was that beta noticed some rubberbanding but Ive experienced that in every MMO release Ive played, the features are what draws me to the game its almost a perfect rebirth of SWG with FFA PVP , I'm going to take the leap of faith as well can't be as bad like say STO...

I wouldn't be too sure on that.
