I played some LOTRO and EQ2 at the beginning of the year, but once I started grad school in August, I quit everything and haven't picked up a game in months apart from the occasional casual thing on XBox Live. I've been so busy I haven't had time for anything else, and right now there's no game out there that I feel compelled to play.

What I've seen of SW:TOR gives me some hope. The game looks amazing. I'll be giving it a go when it hits open beta to see if it's up my alley before making any final judgement calls on it, though. I might also look into Guild Wars 2 and Rift. Beyond that, who knows.

I cant wait to see what DF 2011 has to offer. I think it will rule the world. I stay there.

I haven´t touched one single mmorpg in 2010. I had more fun with MASS Effect 2 and other games. Im gonna play Rift in 2011 and try out TERA i hope they deliver otherwise i can wait again for some more years for any decent mmorpg.

Played in 2010 in oreder of most played:

DDO - Will continue in 2011, but only occasionally

EQ2 (ext) - Probably will not play in 2011

Darkfall - You couldn't pay me to play this

LOTRO - Will probably become my main MMO

Absolutely nothing being released in 2011 is even remotely interesting to me (as I doubt EQ3 will be released in 2011).

WoW- had not played for afew years, so started playing again with some friends, was fun at first...then again it all became just about the epics, quit before cata.

Perpetuum- kinda liked the customisation of it all, but the combat was slow boring and repetitive, the whole sandbox thing does nothing for me.

Vindictus- Im from australia, so not exactly enjoyable...or possible to play with a grp even with a high speed connection. alright for afew levels then once you have seen afew maps and mobs...you have seen them all.

Planetside- Still my fav MMO, but since the sever is now an extra 100ping away from me, its not exactly enjoyable to play...oh yes and the constant hackers...

Gaybal Agenda: Cockstorm. <-- sums up what I think of that game.

    in 2011...ill probably play...

SW:TOR - though I expect nothing good to come of it, unless aids is a good thing now.

TERA: - combat looks interesting though, im guessing its going to be all terrible netcode...and ill be standing right next to or ontop of something while i hear *woosh, woosh, swish..."i need to be closer..."

Rift - looks cool, ill probably play it for abit..maybe..though i expect if I want a well polished PvE game with more 2 faction staleness...ill just go back and play WoW.

Planetside Next - well hopefully its not all just lies, and Sony don't turn it into some item mall terrible pay to win game.

GW2 - Perhaps the last hope for MMOs, the only MMO I have any faith at all in and nothing bad to say about it...except its fantasy...

    SKYeXile
    TRF - GM - GW2, PS2, WAR, AION, Rift, WoW, WOT....etc...
    Future Crew - High Council. Planetside 1 & 2.

Towards the end of 2010 I played no mmos.  I think most of my 2010 year was spent not playing mmos.  As for the new year, I'm not playing anything and it looks like it will continue to be that way untill the new games start releasing.  I will at that point make the call on a release by release basis.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

I played a bunch of F2P like Rohan, Shaiya, Global Agenda. Rohan was the best out of the bunch for me and I don't know why. Maybe it is because it was the first F2P that I played and convinced me that a game could be free and be just as good as WoW.

Guild Wars was another MMO that I participate in because of certain events and the new "Guild Wars Beyond" content.

The only subscription based MMO I played was Aion. I probably will never play that again this year because I cant shell out dollars a month. I am too poor.  I have got mouths to feed, and not the time to waste money on software.  Plus Aion did not really have character customization skill-wise and attribute-wise.  I kind of want the freedom to put my attribute points into Intelligence or Strength myself.

Ooh I tried Lineage 2 and I was lost at the very beginning. I was given a knife that had no dmg value and no guide to direction. Ghost community (probably all high levels :) )

2010 for was a big improvent concerning my pick on mmorpg..

I tried everything from F2P to P2P and finally found out that darkfall online is really the game to be atm..

    why you ask?

First i addmit this game is really hardcore.. game needs month's of practise and setting up you UI, skilling up spells and so on..

On the other hand this game is is the only game where skills of the players count and not the smash tab target like in other mmo's

The other part of the game is the full looting which makes you shit in your pants when you encounter other player and he start attacking you.. ( this will change if you play longer)

    my opinions and questions are:

Don't expect by playing 3/4 month's in darkfall that you maxed out your char. its impossible. On the other hand there are players in this game that have newvbie char and destroy vets.. that's about the skills of players which makes the game to me alot intresting

Questions: People wanne pvp ( seems to me if reading the forums ) people want skillbased system, people want housing, poeple want big fights, poeple want crafting

Try this game out and you will be satisfied with all your needs.

Seeing alot of post in there about rift.. and wondering how the pvp works in this game.. answer: Same as all the others mmos stand over eachother press TAB and spamm buttons  --> NOW that;s pvp LOL

Darkfall downsides : UI and setting up your bindings takes alot of time and it actually a skill itself. some minor adjustments or improvements in darkfall would be nice also but these thinks will only be noticed by the vets ingame..

mana missle for the win ;)

In 2010 I played a bunch of crap. Had fun for a couple of months going back to WAR and rebuilding a guild. Not much else.

In 2011 I will probably play Rift (until something else comes out), SWToR (because I buy most AAA titles regardless how good/bad they are, Tera same reason (though the targeting/combat may present some  issues for me), and good old (new) GW2.

Pretty much the same pick list as every other regular gamer out here in no-person's land (e.g. the Internet)

  • OcirusskdOcirusskd Member Posts: 212

I did'nt try to many of the hyped games in 2010, i did play fallen earth and global agenda for a while aswell as stop in lotro and eq2x to check them out

For 2011 ill be trying the big 4 (Rift, Tera, Gw2, Swtor) and a handfull of indies like earth rise and might give ffxiv another shot depending on how the other games go.

2010: Sword 2(Sword of the new world) until Diablo 3 comes out.  Free to play and what not along with decent graphic and pvp cuz those mmorpg nowadays SUCKS BALLS!

2011: Diablo 3( I know its not "MMO" but "Multi Mini Online RPG"

I wont be playing rift, tera cuz those are over hyped and it will be sucked out as usual.

Well after 7 pages I think it is my turn, so

    2010: Darkfall Online

    2011: Darkfall Online

Even with all the downside this game has, I could not see another game on the market that gives me so many adrenaline rush and fun !

  • CazCoreCazCore Member Posts: 40

nice to see all the love for Darkfall in this thread.  not cuz i'm such a big fan of it, but its the most different and USED to be the most hated MMO in this forum.

there's ALOT of things i hate about Darkfall, but apparently i'm also a ......

    2010 Darkfall

    2011 Darkfall

.......person,...... but that's only a month or 2 out of the past year, and probably similar next year unless i have alot more free time on my hands.  as much as i hate it, it offers alot more to me than other MMOs, and i will always go back to it periodically until something better comes along.

a smidge of Vanguard might have happened in 2010, and may yet again happen in 2011.

maybes for 2011: DCUO, APB, Tera, i'll try anything action oriented

2010 (some of these may be 2009 as i forget release dates)

Champions online:  life sub (4 months of gameplay spread out over the year)

    Darkfall:  2 months

Lotro:  life sub (2 more months added this year to about 12 over the years)

WoW:  Still playing this and have been since September.  Finally got into a raid guild so the game has really changed for me and brought on a whole new meaning to the game.

    DnD:  1 month

STO:  Beta'd hated it, friend got a lifetime -_-

Perpetuum:  Beta'd it, disliked it but like the way it was going, maybe in 2011 i will try it out again

Xyson:  Beta'd it, pretty much 0 features in the game.  Maybe in 2012 i'l look at it

SWG:  1 month, community has adjusted to the low pop but it doesn't make the game any better

Vanguard:  3 months, very satisfied with my experiance (2nd time round, 1st was good too) but the population is just too small for it to be fun for any length of time (Dungeons rock but waiting 3 hours for a group isn't)

Lego Universe:  Beta'd it and literally that was all the content there was/is.  Did not and will not need to play this game ever again.

Mortal Online:  Beta'd, nice graphics and a good idea for a game but poorly poorly executed.  I honestly don't see it recovering.

APB:  Beta'd, watched it crash and burn and thankfully never purchased it.

    2011:

Guild wars 2:  So much damn hype but i can see deep down it will be a half decent game (won't live up to expectations though).

Rift:  Will see what happens 1 month after release, so far it's looking like content maybe an issue and i want to see how they will fix that or if there is enough content

WoW:  Raid guild is going strong so no need to ditch it just yet

Terra:  Big big maybe on this.  Could turn out to be pure crap, free trial test/forum test 1 month in

Aside from that there maybe 1 or 2 other releases that catch my eye in the year (as they usually do).  I have a feeling 2011 might be the same for me as 2010 was in that i play 1 main MMO (WoW or in the earlier part of 2011, Vanguard) and sift through a bunch of other ones as a secondary MMO.  With a somewhat stronger lineup than 2010 i may find a secondary one that will last for more than 2 months though (most likely Guild wars 2).

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

  • ManestreamManestream Member UncommonPosts: 941

Darkfall:  1 months play, found it dull, boring and very community quiet. Havent been back since.

Lotro:  dropped out after 7-9 mths play, game has gone F2P now and i do not touch those with their item shops (usually ends up costing a hell of a lot more than the monthly subscription) (could get 2 gamecards for £25 = £6.25 a month, item shop = £££ more per month.

WoW:  Still playing however my time may be comming to a close (HC's are way too difficult, hardly ever get completed and take roughly 3hrs of your time), you will also change players with all the drop-outs at least 10+ times (eats into the time) that i have virtually given up trying to instance in teh game now.

STO:  Beta Tested it, absolutly hated it and found it extreamly dull and boring. Brought 2 friends round to also take a look and they were of likewise opinion too. Stayed well cleqar of it.

Vanguard:  just under 2 mths (total time about 2 mths), just over 1 month at release followed by a free comeback trial that 1st winter. Never been back since as it was still very laggy, very buggy and very crap (with alot less in player base than there used to be). Didnt see anything to warrent going back to.

Daoc: Went to take a free comeback trial, game looked very dated graphically, didnt want to ruin my memories of one of the better games so stopped playing within the week. Was still one of teh best old games outr there (real pity nothing has come close to beating what this had, just a pity it hasnt lived with the times). or was that just the free comeback trial they allowed you to get (if so it would have put people off the game rather than bring them to it).

As for 2011, i can but hope of something comming out that has both fun and enjoyment in playability, hell its about time something came out now, its been 6 yrs since WoW took over and its fought everything off and hasnt even broke a sweatgland yet in doing so. Here's hoping for 2011.

    Played in 2010:

Final Fantasy XI – Finished with the last Wings of the Goddess installment so I’m pretty much done with all the different story lines. Not sure if I will keep playing in 2011. I have not re-subbed for January. Highly depends on what is in store for us in the next Vanafest which is usually held in February/March (if there is one this year) to see if I will come back or if I am done forever and ever.

Final Fantasy XIV – Played from September to December, very casually mind you, and currently the ONLY MMO I'm playing at the moment.  I will continue to play it in the meantime in 2011, just even more casually… if that is even possible. If you are already playing a game pretty casually, how do you play it even more casually than you already were In the first place?

Would like to play in 2011:

TERA Online – Going to try it out for 90 days at least to see if I like it enough to continue subbing for it. Chances are I will buy the Collector’s Edition if there is one, but it has to have an art book and a music CD at least! Chances are the game will be releases Q2/Q3 of this year in the US.

Guild Wars 2 – I never played the first one, just been keeping tabs here and there on the forums for the second one. I don’t know too much about this game, but there are some things that do seem interesting. I am going to also try it out for 90 days at least and see if I like it enough by then to continue playing. I will also try to get the Collector’s Edition if there is one (I’m pretty sure there will be one for it since Guild Wars 1 had one). Same rules apply, it has to have an art book and a music CD! There have been no statements as far as when this will come out; my best guess is Q3/Q4 of this year?

Final Fantasy XIV – Well it is free to play indefinitely till the new team gets it right. There are definitely three factors as to whether I will continue to play this game 2011. There is a strong possibility that this game will get some sort of reboot or at the very least major changes to quite a few areas/aspects of the game. Taking Square Enix’s history into account, they usually roll out the updates to the public in a slow manner, so it may take half of this year or the entire year to see some or most of the new ideas implemented.  One major factor is whether those new ideas are implemented well (and if I enjoy them) for me to stay.  Secondly is when and if they start charging this year, if I feel the game is not up to par and they start charging too soon, then chances are I will be jumping ship. Thirdly is whether I am enjoying my time in TERA and/or Guild Wars 2 to even care by then if and when those ideas are implemented.

2010: Wow, project 1999, Eve, AoC, CoX, STO (just after launch)

    2011: Eve, DCUO

Keeping an eye on, but not playing: STO, AoC, Rift
