Beta 4 has come and gone.

Those that have said the game sucks, fails, WoW clone, nothing new are now being proved wrong.

A mass amount of people are now experiencing what Rift is about and the response is over-whelming positive.

Why?  Word of mouth.  It should be no surprise that once you get out of the first zones that the challenge ramps up.  Exploration of the new zones widens and the boss fights become hard.  Some are already calling nerf.  Yep, love that people tried to say this game was easier than WoW.  Love that those who haven't gotten past level 10 make a judgement on what the game has going forward.

Rejoice those that like the game.  You are in the majority and the game will only build momentum from this point on.

Hate on the game if you want, but ask yourselves this.  Rift has no pre-installed fanbase.  Where are the fanbois coming from if the game is so fail?

I have to say i went into the beta thinking it was going to be an ok might wait to buy it at a later date. Like after it has been out for a year or so to just make sure it would be worth it. But man did i get a slap to the face if you think this is just some mmo thats was just tossed together with the same old mmo game play you are so wrong, first i have to say the rifts are just genuis not only can they randomly just pop up but they can do some real damage if they go unchecked. If a rift is left alone they can spawn invasions those invasion mobs can make foothold and foothold can make more invasion mobs and they can multiply takeing over towns and changing the land all together. But more than one rift can spawn in one area and they can be from different planes and they will fight each other they wont just walk by and do nothing so not only do you have defiant vs guardian but its defiant vs guardian vs life vs death vs fire vs earth vs water vs air. This really is an ever changing world. By the end of the beta i had pre-ordered the collectors edition and a six month sub if you really want a new game that works i really think you should check out this game and give it a shot.

The majority of people seem to like reality tv shows too.. doesnt make reality tv shows be worth anything.

As for Rift, those who like it, fine.. those who prefer something a bit more sophisticated.. lots of good stuff out there heh.

On the 1st day of Beta4 I sat and watched a small war between multiple Death invasion forces vs multiple Water invasion forces. 20-30 elite NPC mobs fighting a damn war in the middle of the road next to my quest area...It was jaw-dropping, and even more when you know this wasn't a triggered "event" the two forces just met on the road and started fighting it out.

    *edit

Just to add, even with a 40 to 50 NPC war going on, and players around, the game STILL ran smooth without a hitch. The same cannot be said for many other MMOs.

So what you are saying is... different strokes for different folks.. how innovating!

Yes, if you have not thought about this game because what someone else said, give the game a try. Try to get into beta, it might would change your mind.

lol.  not exactly right comparison now is it?  You're talking about a TV show.  Reality TV is a genre.  Video games are the TV show for this comparison and the genre is MMORPG.  So in this context we are talking about the majority of people whom like MMORPGs.

Haters gonna hate.  Doesn't change the fact that Rift offers something new, fun and exciting.

For what the game is, it's a lot of fun. I had a blast in the beta event this weekend. Does Rift bring a lot of innovation? Not really, but it does bring a nice alternative to othet themeparks out there.

Towards the end, I found myself chasing down Invasions, Footholds and Rifts. I had a great time with it too.

The soul system is interesting as well. I finally settled on a Shaman/Justicar/Warden combination, and enjoyed the flexibility that particular combination offered me.

The final portion of beta that was a true breath of fresh air was the amount of positive comments and discussions that were taking place in the general chat channel. In almost any other beta I've been in over the past few years, the general channel was filled with ire and bickering. The community seems to be different, so far, in Rift.

The game is solid with few bugs that I personally experienced. The game looks very pretty, and has a lot of nice environmental lighting effects. Overall the spell and ability graphic effects look nice, although there are a number that look very generic as well. I also had a few issues with pet pathing, which are going to need to be fixed, but it's nothing gamebreaking.

My only major concern is what's going to happen to low level areas, invasions wise, after most of the population has moved on. Many of the invasions outright take over quest hubs, and while that creates a unique experience while leveling, once the gane hits a certain age, some areas are going to become unaccessible to soloists. Trion will need to make adjustments as the population moves.

Rift is a good game overall. If you're looking for something completely new, this isn't going to be an option for you. On the other hand, if you don't mind themepark style gameplay with a twist to it, then you'll probably find yourself enjoying what Rift has to offer.

People used to love AoC and Aion at the end of beta as well.

Once novelty of the rifts and rest of the "ooh Aah's" wears down, people will see it for what it is. Same ole same ole.

Wait til you get 20+ and into the second zone.  The game really ramps up.

AoC was a buggy mess and I didn't know Aion failed.

Thats nice. I wont be buying it tho. I played up to 20 in phase 3 after just quitting WoW after too long and i love the rift invasions but the gameplay was like exactly what i didnt want to play more of.

I installed Rift again to give it another shot in phase 4 but once i got into the login screen i just couldnt go any further.

Rifts beautiful but i have no plans on playing it.

    Aion had a beta?

I thought it released straight from Korea after it was already out a year over there with no beta for NA people?

And AoC Tortage was absolutely amazing. The rest of the game was content low at launch.

I've given the game a solid try and I will say, the class system doesn't impress me much.  I think the game will do well for the most part,  but the Rifts don't seem to be as... dynamic.... as they were slated to be.  Thats not to say this game isn't fun,  I'll likely pick this up a little ways down the road while waiting for SWTOR or GW2... while I'm not playing DCUO.

Actually you re wrong. Many did like them, many didn t. Just as with this game.

OP is a bit dramatic, but he's right. I really enjoyed Beta 4, and am now already looking forward to playing the next beta event more than the DCUO launch!

The game isn't the next gen ultimate best ever world changing game... but it is new, feels fresh, and lots of fun. I'll be spending a good long time playing this one.

Considering the poop that was released last year for MMOs, this game is really a step in the right direction. The quality is there.

If you're sick of the mmo level up quest get loot raid and pvp cycle, then RIFTs isn't going to appease you (honestly, if you're sick of it why are you still lurking on this site... lol). If you enjoy those things when they feel new and fun, and there's quality and a new twist or two involved, then I'll see you in game.

Like what .. Eve??? please ... The problem is the genre of MMORPG has been reformed by the success Blizzard has garnered.. This is primarily why I absolutely hate Blizzard and boy-cott them... the MMORPG world was so much better back pre-WoW... WoW took the genre and turned it upside down.

As for Rift, its a great game with a great deal of potential. Is the game finished? no ... was WoW finished when it was released? no. Alot of you guys are so incredibly spoiled its ridiculous.

So was I, I screamed on the AoC boards about the exact same shit that killed the game in the end. I wasn't alone by a long shot.

Not that I know anything, but I think you should probably venture out of the MMO realm. Its not going to change... either enjoy what MMO's are today, or find another genre.

I think you're going for hatched, not basket.  Regardless - I'm not saying the game will destroy WoW or EVE or any other MMORPG.  What I'm saying is that the game is good and most people agree with that sentiment.
