My only problem with this game is, that I actually paid from it but didn't get any keys. And without keys I can't really play or even register into forums. I just keep waiting for the support to answer my email - and obviously I'm not the only one since it takes more than 24hrs to get any answer?

I just feel so stupid. Should go back into DC online. At least it works but the tights don't fit me anymore.

They actually have a large team consisting of 80 people which makes it even more odd that the game is launched as horribly broken and unfinished as it is.

It's all about how you look at it.  I've spent money on much worse games over the years, many single players.  It's my hobby, there's going to be a cash sink.  I knew that when I started it.

You paid 80 bucks and you still talking about free gametime.... you sir have a very weird sense of economics.

On behalf of the MMO community i would like to thank you for propagating the issue with Sub Par (to put it VERY mildly) releases of MMO Games by giving money to developers that clearly do not deserve it.

Wow, you really hate how I spend my money, don't you? I guess every purchase you have made in your life has been perfect and economically sound.  Not that I really care, how you spend your money is your business.   By the way, my perspective is glass half full not empty.  I still think the FFXIV buy was a good deal as I see them working to fix the game and overhaul it.  Better than most companies who just expect you to swallow what they release.  Like WAR or AoC or MO.

At least Square and Masthead are listening to the player base and making drastic changes and being publicly vocal about it at that.

Not really.  If you maybe even understood a small bit about how business loans and investing works, sometimes a product must launch no matter the state due to finances.  It's not very hard to see that is probably what happened here and to many other MMOs that have launched in similar manner.

I am not some WoW kiddie who grew up on themeparks and has no idea what a sandbox is. I cut my teeth in UO and had an absolute blast in SWG.

That said, I find the "If you don't like this game you suck and don't like sandboxes!" accusations I've seen in this forum and from fanboys in-game a bit like the "you're not a patriot" one, it's just not true.

This game is unfinished (read, not buggy. It is way beyond that). There is no other way to describe it.

I was on the fence between this and DCUO. Good god I wish I had chosen differently, but I liked the look of the characters.

You may enjoy earthrise If you like:

    • Mobs that will go invulnerable at random times

    • Mobs that shoot through geometry (walls, hills, buildings, boulders, etc) in a modern, shooter-style game

    • Randomly de-syncing with servers so mobs and other players become invisible

    • Mobs that instantly heal themselves as soon as they're fired upon.

    • 10-15s chatlag

    • Party chat that inexplicably stops working after a few minutes.

    • Horrendous lag (generally 400ms+, yes, in a shooter this is horrendous for all the tab-target folks)

    • Terrible performance even on powerful machines with settings low (this has been detailed in many threads)

    • Pinpoint accuracy required for all weapons, including shotguns and flamethrowers.

Those are just some of the bugs and/or horrible design elements I remember off the top of my head from my 4 hours or so I spent trying my hardest to like this game. That is not counting the FEATURES THAT ARE COMPLETELY MISSING. For all the brainiacs saying "derp I've been in betas and alphas, this is definitely better than alpha!" I've got news for you, alpha is defined as FEATURE COMPLETE. All features, in one capacity or another, are complete and functioning in game. The maps could be half-built and everything using base textures, but everything is in and working, even in a buggy state. That's alpha. This game is not feature complete, they cut shit tons of features to get there, promising that they'll be patched in.

Yeah, uh, F*** that! Why do you believe them? They also said vehicles would be in by launch! Look at the track record before blindly fanboying your way forward, PLEASE.

All I can say is, even if you find my delivery abrasive, please listen to the message. Do not waste your $50 on this game. You'd be much better off spending it to buy some warm clothes for a random hobo, at least then you could feel good about your charity and be pretty sure it wasn't going to complete and utter waste.

Mate that was very obvious from the beta.

What made you think they were going to change this things at the release.

They are not gods to create everything work correctly in 3 days.

I didn't make the mistake and i feel sorry for those who made it.That game needs 2 years more to reach release state.

As for dc universe it's agood game for one month. After that it gets boring cause it needs 2 years of content so as to become a full fun game.

So yeah the second choise would entertain you for one month and the second for 2 hours.

I m playing startrek online now.I spent my savings for a lifetime sub and im happy with it.These savings were supposed to go for the dc but they didn't deserve it.

Not all New released games are at there fullest potential, Ex: Darkfall, and even WoW, To judge a game before at least 1 month, is like discarding a baby, it needs time to show itself fully.

I did buy DCUO, and i wish i bough Earthrise instead, DCUO is fun, but it really doesnt have the MMO feel, it isnt a long term game, and lvling up to max lvl takes about 3 to 4 days. Earthrise is a MUCH better investment then DCUO. With DC you basicly are stuck with what you see and not to much room to add or improve, at least in a Big scale. But ER has much much more room to advance.  Basicly, if your guna discard ER, at least give it a shot again about 3  months down the line, unless it ends out like APB and servers go down.

All i gotta say is Darkfall said they would have houses, didnt get those for a while, but still eventually got those, and its not like it took a year to add. Sandbox games (specially with full loot) are very difficult games to maintain, you must be patient with them.

As i see it, All mmo's are an investment, you pay for something, and it has the potential of getting better down the line, you give yourself an inventory of games to switch to when ever needed.

Eve+SWG+Darkfall (portions of each, and let me say, all those games Turned out good) = Earthrise

If you were even slightly capable of unbiasly following a game you'd note that out of all those 5 games you mentioned AoC is the only one which has undergone the most changes and additions, not to mention the fact that WAR's and especially AoC's launch make ER's launch look like Dark & Light Mk II to put it bluntly.

Also name me one drastic change or even fix that Masthead has done since release?

Right... didn't think so... but Masthead is so much better than Starvault Mythic and Funcom because they posted a roadmap pre Release letting us all know that the game is incomplete on release... yet they went ahead and charged full price none the less.... awww how cute... they really are so vocal and listen to the community!

Yup, honestly im a bit pissed off cuz, all i had to do was wait about a week to fully embrace "maybe i should buy Earthrise" and i didnt, and went off buying DCUO, and well the sad part is as i bought the game from Gamestop, i asked the guy if he had ever played it, he said yea, its called champions online and COH/COV, and he also mentioned how CO is going free to play. I shoulda listened to him >.>   A heads up  to all the people trying to decide Earthrise over DCUO, Earthrise is the way to go, unless you absolutely loved CO, or any other super hero game, cuz DCUO is just a burst of fun and it goes crashing down under a week, for example, like AoC on launch, the starter area first 20 lvls are like "Fuck yea"then once you get out, ur like "the fuck is this shit" so yeaa, in long term sence Earthrise > DCUO honestly DCUO, IS a console game, not a PC game, you play it for a while, have fun, and put it away and never touch it again, until about a year goes buy, and you flip threw all ur old games looking to play back some of ur old games, and you see DCUO, and you just might wana play that, but guess what... you cant just pop it in and play, cuz you need a subscription. ......./sign..... damn superhero games >.>

Didn´t buy this game cause it was open pvp world , while I like the game the setting the controls .

Could overlook the bugs and everythign else , The world was very nice to explore even if half the area had no mobs in them .

This game does has huge potential , just it has been rushed and tagging it open PVP , was what sealed it for me not to purchase it .

If there was a test server or a consensual pvp server , I wouldn´t have mind to spent the money on it .

Just to explore and have fun .

Anyway I hope fallout online , they are working on , will have this similair system .

Honestly I love the time in beta playing it , so hope they can manage to bring out fallout online soon .

  • SkrankenSkranken Member UncommonPosts: 100

Thanks for the heads up mate.

Ill wait for a trial to come out, if the game survive that long..

Im not paying 50€ for a game that is litteraly not even alpha standard.

We get to play 2 months for free so they have time to fix server stability.

Didnt read all the post, so I apologize if this has been said.

Why pay $50 for a FPS MMORPG when Global Agenda is around and it has no sub fee and is only $7 on Steam if it goes on sale?

What does earthrise have that is so much better than GA?

Earthrise is just better at making you feel like a chump after you purchase it. I'm a chump. I truthfully regret buying it. Hopefully someone who thought about purchasing it reads these reviews.

What I don't understand is how they could actually think the game would be fun in this state.  I've played many, and this one was so bad instead of having fun, it pissed me off.  I'd rather go to the dentist and get a root canal then play in this state.  Lag galore, crashing, minimal UI options....crapola.   I uninstalled it after a few hours.

I can't believe I waited so long for this game.  Was excited about it.  A new sci fi mmo.  About time I said to myself.  Then reality hit.  Sigh....

So this is the accepted business model of the MMO contenders trying to compte with polished games like WOW and Rift?

We take your $50> $80 then "maybe" later we will implement the features we advertised/had printed on the box.

We sell you a broken product and when/if we feel like it we will rectify the faults?

    Welcome to Ccard chargeback

Sorry but as a wise man once said "You can't polish a turd"

You want to compete with the big boys then get it working as advertised. Don't advertise or promote features you don't have or aren't working...it's called false advertising.

By the way, the Chargeback can also be justified by the minimum configuration requirments written on the box/ website. They are fraudulent.

i've lost all sympathy for mmo gramers really....if you havent gathered by now that most developers don't give a crap about what you want then maybe you need to go see a psychologist. you guys are like battered wives, you get the crap kicked out of you and go back for more.  I could tell from the day the game was announced it was gonna fail...p2p sandbox..yeah ok whatever

    so say we all

Has nothing to do with the game failing. EVE is a P2P Sandbox... Perpetuum is a P2P Sandbox. Both had (compared to Earthrise) good launches and both had all the initial features on release.

Do you think that if Earthrise was a Level Based - Themepark it would have faired better with the same launch?
