Is it fun for you?
Is it addicting?
What are the professions like?
What is the PvE like?
What is the PvP like?
Does anything about Rift standout as different?
Is it fun? Yes, definitely at the moment as it's new stuff in an old wrapper, but i can see it becoming stale very quickly.
Is it addictive? No, not really.
Professions? Poor, nothing new.
PvE? Same ol same ol, nothing new, copy and paste from every preceeding mmo with the usual "unique" twist.
PvP? Terrible, utterly awful, worse that WoW, much worse.
Anything different? No, nothing really. It's a well put together game, but it's incredibly underwhelming. Reminds me a lot of Aion at release, well polished, pretty to look at, playable and fun but got boring very quickly once the new lustre wore off.
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy
What are the professions like? Imagine WoW, even the levels and skillups are just copied. 'nuff said.
What is the PvE like? Linear Themepark, imagine WoW but being told what to do and where to go by every quest.
What is the PvP like? Almost no world PVP because rogues were ganking everyone, all the PVP happened in Warfronts.
Does anything about Rift standout as different? No
I looked through you last 20 posts and they are all bashing Rift. Why does this game threaten you so much? If you don't like it...just don't play it. Why do you take it so personal? Did Rift touch your private spots? ....I don't get people like you. I feel sorry for people like you.
Personally, I'm playing Rift and having a blast. I expect to have lots of fun for a long time to come playing Rift. The only negative I see is issues with performance. Folks with kick butt machines are hard pressed to play on max settings.
So....your entitled to your opinion, but he's not because he doesn't like the game?
It's a public forum, his opinion is equally as valid as yours, if you can't respect that, why should anyone respect your opinion?
Also, posting a bash post to flame someone who, according to you, bashes the game is a bit hypocritical.

Imo, a poster posting consistently onesidedly negative - a 'hater', as some call it - about a game is as much biased to the point of wrong as a poster posting consistently onesidedly positive - a 'fanboi' - about a game. Both groups are biased if they can't acknowledge the good and bad of game.
With that difference that a hater shows an unhealthy obsession with a game that's the object of his attention: where fanbois at least talk about a game they play and like, the haters keep posting about a game with which the only bond they have with is one of dislike.
It's like a football fan who hates basketball constantly showing up at basketball games and gatherings talking all the time about how basketball sucks and people shouldn't play it.

Opinions are fine yes, posative and negative sure. The point needs to be the accuracy of the comments being made, not which side of the discussion they are on. The issue on these forums is that a majority of people prefer to embelish falsehoods, exagerate, lie in order to forward thier point of view in either direction. Posative or negative on a game is perfectly fine, lying to people should not be. This guy on the negative side here is outright lying to people about the PvP in Rift, either from a lack of personal knowledge and he is making stuff up to compensate, or he knows the truth but is exagerating and embelishing the facts to sway opinion. Either way, his opinion as you like to see it, should NOT be allowed in the manner he is presenting it in his post. Its that simple. His way of doing it is like me meeting one hispanic person who robbed me, so I go everywhere and tell everyone that all hispanics are f'in criminals. Not true at all, and quite ignorant to think it is, but that is exactly what this person was doing in his post. You still think its a valid post and he is allowed to voice his opinion?
There are better people to give you the pros and cons because i only had very limited time in beta and have only played a few toons to teens .
But i will give it a shot.
Firstly the game is pretty much very stable and runs great even on low specs.Due to been away from home and my beloved power pc ,i am using a mobile broadband connection(so horrible that i cannot even do raids in wow and EQ2 is not playable in a single group dungeon run) and a 3 year old laptop which though has a dedicated graphics card its a 8300 or something like that basically one of the lowest graphics card in 8 series.
I can run the game on low setting(which is actually not bad visually at all as i have ran it on full setting on pc at home just before i travelled) with 20fps in a packed zone. When a rift opens there are normally 40+ and i drop to about 10fps .Now considering how bad my laptop and connection are you can easily see that getting 20+ fps is easy to get on mid range pc/laptops.
I am yet to run into any bugs atm but there might be a few ahead i dunno.
Visually its good but not the best .It a step above say WAR and WoW but behind AoC.
Classes are 4 but they subdivide into so many its really amazing how much choice you have. The soul system is really fun.
Quests are basic kill this ,deliver this, pick this and go fast.
Rifts are fun.It remains to be seen how long they will keep people happy but i am hoping the game has good dungeons and raids to look forward to in future!
I would say the game is trying to refine other mmopg and does feel like a patchwork of WoW,EQ2 and WAR .There is nothing brand new to talk about.
So i would say this if you are fed up of the normal fantasy MMO we been having keep off RIFT.
If you are looking for a brand new unfamilar experience with something inoovative again rift is robably not for you.
If you are looking for a new world with a different look to class system but will only settled for a well made and polished mmo then i think you have a home in rift then!
Better now and will be at launch than most games more than a year old.
Plays smooth on a wide range of systems.
Incoorporates elements of some of the most sucessfull mmo's (a good thing).
Great graphics.
Fun addicting gameplay.
Now then, NONE of those things can be denied.
If you like a good mmo, that works out of the box, little to NO noticeable or game breaking bugs (FINALLY) then this game is for you.
If those all sound like good things to you, try the game. No doubt you have bought and tried WAY less worthy games with your money.
Weather you end up sticking with the game for the long haul or not is your personal preference and only you can decide.
And..btw..
If your not sick of the other mmo that everyone plays then don't bother. Keep playing that (great) mmo and please stay away from Rift as no doubt you will come and spam stupid comparisons that no body playing the game and likes it gives a rat about what you think.
I am a totally skeptical gamer, i actually buy or play about 3% of the (mmo) games released in the last 6+ years, most of them are not worth my time or money.
That would be, Asherons Call2, World of Warcraft, Conan (so sad, could have been the greatest game), and i bought Aion unfortunatly, and played it about 20 days before i quit, didn't even finish my 30 free days on that.
Most games are not worth the time or money in my opinion, however i feel that Rift is very worthy, if not for the fact it's a very tried and true formula that millions seem to like, has good art and graphics, engages a comunity ( you will play with people tons of people even if your a solo/ loner, you will naturally be engaged with other players). You don't have to look for a group hardly at all as you can just join someone on a quest and get that boss ( AWESOME and MUCH Needed Feature in an MMO) so that some azzhat doesn't come up and kill the quest target right in front of you while you are trying to kill the mobs leading up to it.
It's all good, will be the one of the best mmo release in history ( not by numbers, but by sheer competance of Trion that should not go unnoticed) and it will do well i can practically guarantee it.
The inquisitor soul is actually the DoT caster cleric tree. The purifier and warden are probably there for either buffs or survivability. Can't judge the tree without further info, but I don't see why it can't work.
If you plan on pvping roll rogue or warrior, if you roll mage or cleric you will get pwned. The caster souls are lacking hardcore no matter what they say on the Rift forums. Warriors and rogues you can spam melee skills all day, casters have stupid cooldown timers on most skills or long cast times for medicore damage skills, and they are very soft all glass without the cannon. Im actually cancelling both of my pre-orders and will wait for ToR or GW2.
The pve is pretty solid on the other hand tho, but pvp is lacking unless you are playing the warrior or rogue souls. Oh and dont go Defiant because you will hardly ever win any warfronts, it seems like all the WoW kiddies went Defiant. Working as a team in WFs dont seem to comprehend with them. Overrall its a fun game if you can put up with the onesided and unbalanced pvp.
Really?
I must be a God then.
I play a caster cleric, inquisitor/purifier/warden build. DPS on the trees, nothing in healing just base. I consitantly destroy anything melee unless I get focused on. We, on the defiant side, just an hour ago finished off a nice winning streak where we won 8 of 8 Codex matches and 5 of 6 Black Gardens. I'm only level 23 now and have already finished all my Black Garden AND Codex quests, have my PvP soul, purchased all my level 25 faction gear, and still have over 3k favor points left to spare.
I really do think you made the right call on cancelling your pre-order. If you suck as bad as you make it sound I'ld quit playing too if I was you. Maybe ToR or GW2 will have a much better baby cakes mode built into thier PvP so you can compete. Obviously Rift PvP and class structure is WAY too complicated for you.
{mod edit}
Haha, I run a similar setup as Kaocan does actually. The only heal I have is the level 1 rain on your head from the warden, nothing more. If thats what you call a healer I feel sorry for you. The shield is the level 1 single one with no specialization in it, again, not what you think at all. My record damage done in a 10-19 Black Garden match was 42000+. Now you go ahead and tell me again how I have no damage output. I have a consistant 265-315 damage main attack with crits of 350-425. A secondary attack that runs 195-250 with crits between 225-325 on a 1.5 second cast time. And thats not even including my Soul Drain if I get the chance to hit it in a crowd (this is a consistant 400-500 on up to 12 targets in one cast at level 19). I aoe farm 6 to 10 mobs of my level in a single shot without any help from anyone. And with my high wisdom and intellect I almost never run out of mana, so bring your drain on.
{mod edit}
EDIT: Oh and the inquisitor is more direct DPS and AOE DPS than DoTs really. Sure there are 2 DOT spells which also heal you for 90% of damage done when spec'd right. But it is in no way a DoT DPS build. I am more a mage in chain armor than a cleric.

Is it fun for you?Not in the least
Is it addicting? If you consider uninstalling the game as quick as possible, then yes.
What are the professions like?Standard mix, many choices to make, but really is an illusion of more.
What is the PvE like?kill this, collect that, go to big glowing circle on map, do objective, return to big glowy icon over npc.
What is the PvP like?I ll say ok, wasn t bad, but wasn t great either.
Does anything about Rift standout as different? Not really.
I love the people who either haven't played or only played upto like level 4 posting and stinking up shit in here.
Seriously, it's like an hour to get to level 10. Is that so hard?
Played every beta, to see if it gets better. I know what it s like till 35. It isn t a good game to me, get over it. If you like it then play it, I m only answering the question. The uninstalling remark was a joke, but that is about as addicting it is to me.

I'd like solid proof that you've gotten to level 35 in beta, because your posts show that your understanding of the game is truly lacking, especially about the class system.

You like the game, I don t, get over it. Speaking of which why don t you go play it. I made it to 35, I tried to like it and I didn t, what else do you want me to say. It s like you re on some mission to make everyone love this game. Face facts not everyone will like it.
(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)
I dont do twitter or facebook shit. So that isn t going to happen. Never even signed up for those things ever. I would show a pic, if I didn t unistall the game.

It was just a joke. In the latest beta (and of course in the live game) they implemented this feature where when you got an achievement, the game automatically saved a screenshot in yfrog.com and twitted a link to that photo.
Apart from that achievement banner, those screenshots are generally pretty bad. Ie, like when you finish a dungeon and your camera is fixed on a spider's ass, or when you climb a mountain and happen to explore the whole area, so you now got a grey screenshot and so on.
Not to mention that it can get a bit spammy if you are a hardcore gamer.
Not sure if you're trolling. When someone says rogues don't gank in Rift and calls someone a liar for saying they do.... while there are hundreds of videos on Youtube about ganking rogue specs and I got ganked in beta 5 a gazillion times.........uhmmm..

No one is saying rogue don't gank but it doesn't happen everywhere like OP is claiming. Any class with stealth will always be ideal for ganks.
in this forum there are a lot of liars or even paid people who are advertising this or that.
as I read the sentence: "rogues are ganking everywhere.." I stopped reading the rest, since
I was playing in beta and in the headstart and I was not even ganked ONCE. like NEVER EVER.
sure this could change but its not like that right now. (and I always play on PvP servers)
I personally like the game and I will give trion a chance. if its getting boring Ill cancel and play
something different. plain and simple.
I doubt there is that much of a conspiracy theory, but some people feel threatened. Up until
one month ago no one really heard of Rift and SWToR and GW2 were the saviours of the MMO world.
SWToR and GW2 were supposed to fight the epic battle and finally kill WoW if you read any of
the fan sites. Now a game comes a long out of no where that takes every single thing in woW
and basically upgrades it to 2011 like it is nothing, then follows it up with actual end
game and actual money dropped on advertising and public relations.
There was not supposed to be this gradual evolution. It was supposed to be all or nothing and
taking some things while leaving others was thought of as a no no up until a few days ago.
I think when Trion drops those numbers after March 1st it is going to surprise a lot of people.
It is amazing me when I see this "we have more people now then we had the previous Beta". The previous BETA WAS FREE.
in this day and age everyone wants to be a critic and people like to train wreck more than anything (look at the twitter comments for the oscar, people complaining about the stupidest things).
I mostly want to hear that bad parts about Rift, but also tell me what it offers.

my experience with the game is based in the first 20 lvls only cos i got bored and about to quit...(so before anyone bashes this answer, im not talking about lvl 21+ to end game experience cos i dont know about that...)
- it was fun for a while, i tried all classes and races and they were fun at start, they feel different than other games (which is good) but i dont find it as an improvement over other games (besides variety and combinations of course)...
- to me is not addicting at all (only thing that kept me playing for the past 3 days is the female dwarf which i found to be the best designed dwarf in all mmos i have tried (male looks too annormal so only female one only counts here)... all other races well made too but not the best among other games like dwarf gal is.
-professions are good (whats really bad is the amount of resources you find on the ground, best way to gather many of the same her or mining ore is to sit there and wait for it to respawn..... its freakin annoying to travel the area looking for resources as you rarely find them and when u do then someone else reaches is first (u gotta be lucky here to get it first)
- PvE was fantastic in the begining, then it started to become more linear and more boring than ever (thats why i didnt go past lvl 20, couldnt stand it anymore) every every water rift is the same, every death rift is the same, every air rift is the same, etc... and invasions and footholds (PvE) are fun to a point, then they stop being fun because they tend to invade spots where you find quest givers and unless a group comes and wipe the invasion, you cannot take / finish quests there, and invasions get repetitive and boring after a while plust they keep stopping you from questing a lot of times...
- PvP was fun, but not a big deal (im sure at higher lvl is way more fun).. at this point of my toon progression (lvl 20 and below), i found warfronts a little bit less fun than WoWs BG... but again, they are fun so far..
- only thing i found different besides graphics of course was the way you mix so much souls. However, i believe that buying more and more extra roles in order to get all souls available for a race is not good... i can see that Trion took the dual talent specification idea , twisted it, added a third one, and then gave you the ability to purchase more roles to repeat that process with each role. The variety of the talents and stuff was a good move in making things different, but the extra roles are really lame... why? well its easy, Trion dont want you to make 2 characters of the same calling (class) if your a dwarf warrior they want you to stick with it and make oyu pick all souls available for warriors on that toon.... but what if i want to have an offensive dwarf warrior and then a deffensive elf warrior? yes i can do it if i want a different race, but why start again another race if i can just add a second role to my dwarf and make it full deffensive..... i see that as a wasted of time from Trion (i dont find it as improvement to game experience)....
Again, these are just my opinions and most of them from my experience up to lvl 20 only..... and for the trolls, opinions are like butts, everybody has one and this is mine... so go easy on trolling here. Thanks

Just to answer your question rifts are different in each zone so water rift will spawn different bosses and has different appereance. Find it kinda ironic you would quit right at 20 right when you can switch over to a new zone.

My biased opinion is that the game is very much fun, very polished and quite addictive, Ican't give you my unbiased opinion.
The inquisitor soul is actually the DoT caster cleric tree. The purifier and warden are probably there for either buffs or survivability. Can't judge the tree without further info, but I don't see why it can't work.
{mod edit}
Show me your twitter achievements or gtfo?
lol
Agreed. Also, comparing content of a just released game vs a 6 years old games is a non sense and unfair.
Teala is a well known Rift hater so don't listen her biased opinion.
Rift is a very solid title and most important is FUN. Rift is awesome.
Hahahahaha
Yeah, twitters or GTFO!!
Not to mention that it can get a bit spammy if you are a hardcore gamer.
in this forum there are a lot of liars or even paid people who are advertising this or that.
as I read the sentence: "rogues are ganking everywhere.." I stopped reading the rest, since
I was playing in beta and in the headstart and I was not even ganked ONCE. like NEVER EVER.
sure this could change but its not like that right now. (and I always play on PvP servers)
I personally like the game and I will give trion a chance. if its getting boring Ill cancel and play
something different. plain and simple.
A youtube video is your "evidence"? Amusing.
There is indeed hardly any ganging in PvP servres. There is however lots of fighting between full raids in the contested areas.
I expect things to change though when the server starts to mature and a good portion of players hits 50.
Not sure if you're trolling. When someone says rogues don't gank in Rift and calls someone a liar for saying they do.... while there are hundreds of videos on Youtube about ganking rogue specs and I got ganked in beta 5 a gazillion times.........uhmmm..
Are you aslo trying to prove the Earth is flat?
No one is saying rogue don't gank but it doesn't happen everywhere like OP is claiming. Any class with stealth will always be ideal for ganks.
The previous BETA WAS FREE.
in this day and age everyone wants to be a critic and people like to train wreck more than anything (look at the twitter comments for the oscar, people complaining about the stupidest things).
my experience with the game is based in the first 20 lvls only cos i got bored and about to quit...(so before anyone bashes this answer, im not talking about lvl 21+ to end game experience cos i dont know about that...)
