Is Rift end game a joke?

RiftFanRiftFan Member Posts: 239

http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?103752-World-First-Greenscale-Duke-Letareus

Barely one week later and this pops up on the forums. That is supposed to be one of their

hard core raids that we were promised would be difficult and would take awhile to do.

That is only one boss out of 5 and the OP of the thread does say they expect the rest to

take longer.

Is this just a case of top pve guilds doing what they do best? Some of these guys who said

they cleared the Tier 1 and tier 2 raids said Tier1 is a joke, but Tier 2 is much more

difficult.

Now Trion did hint that they would expect this hence why the next raid "double-digit" was

going to be released soon after launch.

Right now here is my issue. People are starting to clear 20 man raid content and as far I

can tell they have basically skipped the 10 or 20 man Raid Rifts?

These posters leave out a ton of details obviously...strategy..were they an Alpha guild

who has been testing this stuff since April?....how long did it take?

Yes Alpha testers that raced to 50 on headstart...

They also stated that they have only killed the first boss and expect the rest of the Raid to take about a month to clear...

    These aren't first-timers.  They've fought him before, so really...it doesn't count.

RIFT engame isn't a joke.  Some of the dev's haven't even gotten very far in endgame yet.

  • CelestialnovaCelestialnova Member Posts: 81

I still wouldn't care too much about it, mainly because (for me and I'm sure a lot of people) i'm just having a blast with friends leveling, doing invasions and rifts, exploring various locations and platforming for artifacts, etc.  I'm just happy that Trion did anticipate this kind of gamer as well and will keep having content out for them, as well as more for me and my group when we get up to that level.  In the end, it's whatever you make of it :)

This is my only real concern with the game, if endgame is either easy or uninteresting, then there will be so few renewals in a month, that despite not having the flaws of similar mmos, (WAR, AoC, Aion) it will suffer the same fate. Though I really enjoy this game, I can’t shake the nagging feeling that it the ultimate problem will be a repeat of STO, low content, fast track to endgame, and no lasting appeal. It all seems to rest on Trion really delivering a lot more content with each update, now that the release it out the way, it’s all down to keeping the subs. Maybe Rift should have been B2P like GW1?

Some of these guys did blast through the content fast and I have seen then mention "well we

saw it all already for months", but there is no way to tell if this guild or the ones mentioned

were Alphas or just that good.

Some guild called FoH from Everquest has been running through the content. I think this

addiction guild was an Alpha guild. Here is a Expert Runic Decent vid they posted.

This guild http://www.fohguild.org  <--who ever they are have been pretty good so far

  • well put....I'm enjoying the whole game, not the just the end game.

Enjoy the journey. Stop to smell the flowers..

Game isn't even officially released yet, so the devs have plenty of time to build on their creation.

oh I am trust me. I am only level 29 and have been reading every single quest. I also realize

the large majority of people just watching are looking for this kind of stuff.

Aion and FF14 were very bad burns for some people so they are giving it much more time this

    go around.

My opinion is they only have there selfs to blaim, if your crusading through the content this quickly what else can they expect.

These games are designed to be played and enjoyed at a steady pace. The rushers just have to wait.!

  • SolestranSolestran Member Posts: 342

I feel no sympathy for power gamers.  You rush, you wait.  I'm tired of them trying to dictate the flow of MMOs by bitching at the developers to cater to them all the time.  EverQuest was a perfect example of how developers cave in to power gamer demands at the expense of every other customer's play style.

  • BoradinBoradin Member Posts: 27

Endgame need not be about dungeons and instances.

Instances are boring, I never go into them.

Remember back when MMORPGs didn't have quests or instances and we still played all day, every day.

I do notice under that Dungeon and Raid section there are some threads crying "more difficult"

expert instances, but there does not seem to be much support.

Most of the responses are Tier 1 is not that hard, but Tier 2 requires much more. I think

maybe there would have been more worry for me atleast if they had killed Greenscale already.

Yeah, I agree with you here.  But I do think this should be the least of our worreis if we have one.  The game in a whole is done really well.  I'm not going to be ready for raiding for quite some time yet.  I think, I hope, they will have things polisshed up enough for end gamers, raiders, to enjoy what theyt are doing..

I also hope they stary implementing things to spend money on.  I know I can spend it on crafting, but I just don't see a lot of initiative right now for the money I have... Anyway.  I'm way too "Newbish" to be complaining about what I ishould spend my money on, but it doesnt seem like there is a lot...

I don't care about end game yet, nor will I for a long time. I am taking my time and the way it looks a lot of other people are. By the time the majority hit the end game, im sure they will have it more balanced, or something.

One good thing about these guys rushing is they are finding bugs that somehow made it to live.

Like this thread about Kings Breech where the boss kept re spawning and you could essentially

    farm him lol

Looks like the devs are definitely reading that section of the forums and searching for bugs.

    No cause for alarm here.

You've got to remember that this game has been in Alpha/Beta for a long time. I've seen remarks saying it was 'ready for release' in beta 5, yet there were 2 more beta's after that.

Some people have played this game a LOT already so it should come as no surprise really, except for those who haven't been following the development.

Yeah like I pointed it out. This is considered one of the easier bosses in that raid and the

others are apparently harder by a extreme amount.

Only thing I am personally dissapointed in is that Tier 1 and 2 were taken out that fast, but

I guess that is easy if knew every fight before you walked into the place.

I'll probably never see Rifts "end-game", I'm just plugging along and enjoying the journey.  Killing some raid boss no longer appeals to me, been there, done that, thrown away the damn t-shirt.

No real suprise here when people can fight the boss in test server or beta you can easily finish it when it goes live. Remember how quickly the top guilds finished the raids in cata? the days of hard raids we saw in WoW 2.0 with instances like SSC  are over. It took us 5 months to clear that (server first) and that was after the nerf to Vash.

This is one reason why i used my beta time to actually test rather than thrash content and play for free.

Made this mistake before, game launches, now you have to pile through all the content you have already done in the OB and as Rift only has one linear path in the early stages, you don't really have much option.

Problem for me with the "stop and smell the roses" comments is that the basic storyline for Rift is awful, it's just painfully bad bordering on a tongue-in-cheek parody of  fantasy games, as it's not meant this way, it's all the more tragic.

Can't blame people blasting through the quests, they are all WoW quest templates, players are used to blasting through them. In the same vein can't blame those for rushing to end game content as the content en-route is too bland and "samey" for some players.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

How is it any different than WoW with people plowing thru Cata content? These days people want instant gratification. If you make it hard people will QQ.

These are most likely Alpha testers, and even in the thread the person who posted it said that the entire raid is going to take a while to down.

I myself have just gotten to 50 a few days ago and I feel overwhelmed with the amount of stuff to do at the moment.

I do not like how they presented it in those threads and I would honestly expect more from a

organized guild. It seems kind of amateur because it seems like they "be-littled" the fight.

"oh boy here are 3 screen shots..it was nothing..moving on"

People watching the game can get an obvious feel that it must have been easy mode. No where

in there does that guy say they had been farming up to this point for months in Alpha.

I am sure any one of us could be destroying Tier 1 and 2 if we had access for months too, but

it is hard to tell right now. The feeling I get is it will be easier to down Tier 1 and tier

2 instances will take longer and more coordination which is good.

  • KryptyKrypty Member UncommonPosts: 454

No MMO company should ever go out of their way to keep people who rush to 50 happy. That is probably less than 1% of their playerbase.

It's hard to believe how many people are level 50 and raiding already and the game has been out one week.  It took months to get to 50 in Vanguard and to even make a dent in the raid content.

Our entire guild is trying to slow the pace so we can enjoy the game.. but even at casual play we have people in their 40s already :(
