At the end of the first video, there is an interview where one of the arenanet staff talks about how GW2 will be playable with console controllers and it will be playable in 3D.
From an earlier post we learned that GW2 can be used on portable devices. You can chat to guild mates and do other minor things to still be apart of the game while not actually being at your computer to play it.
If you know of any other sort of way GW2 will branch out to other devices or incorporate new technologies, please comment!

I really love the idea that they will be allowing controllers. Many people enjoy this, I hope they don't limit the UI because of this though
Even GW1 was built with the ability of using a controller. The use of controllers is by far one of the most enticing things I've heard about GW2 as strange as that sounds.
3D on the other hand.... not so much. more gimmicky than anything else to me, but for those that enjoy it, I guess its something.
What!! you can use a controller in GW1?! wow I play GW still and have for a long time and never knew that! Thanks for that
I really like the option of the use of a controller. It won't be for everyone, but it is great to be able to have that choice. Whether or not it will work well is something we will have to wait and see. The extra bells and whistles that the game is branching out with aren't things I plan on using, but it is really nice to see that Anet is trying to do things that aren't being done to death in other MMORPG's. All these lil pieces are making a pretty impressive picture.
RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.
BTW I also love the smarthphone app support. Im always using my Android and love checking up on stuff. Thats going to be awesome!
I'm not sure if its officially supported, but worked well when I played using switchblade.
I play plenty of MMOs with switchblade. GW1 worked especially well with the limited hotbar.
Wait, is there a guild wars 2 app for my i phone?!
What can it do?
I'll have to plug in my 360 controller and it a spin. Sounds interesting.
A: Gaming Outside the Game: Rick Ellis Talks The Guild Wars 2 Extended Experience
Q: When you say “mobile,” what exactly does that mean?
Q: I don’t have a smart phone; will we have the same functionality on the web?
Q: Does this mean I can play Guild Wars 2 on an iPad?
Q: All this social stuff sounds cool, but what if I don’t want my guild messaging me at work?
A: Initially, we will be offering applications that will run on iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Android smart phones.
A: Yes, we will provide similar functionality for web users.
A: Well, I’ll never say never. However, the iPad is certainly not the same caliber of gaming machine as a PC…yet. Having said that, there are certainly aspects of gameplay, not far from the experience on the PC, that a mobile user might be able to enjoy.
A: Rest assured, we will not be doing anything that allows personal or private information to be shared, and we will provide functionality that allows you to determine who can contact you and when.

Network Architecture:
But when all the players converge in an epic clash at that big center castle, World v World uses the same persistent technology that the rest of the game uses. We are also doing some things across the game to handle large gatherings of players. In many ways, our event system is similar to WvW in that it also encourages large groups of players to gather against large groups of monsters, so this is a problem that we need to handle in both cases.
How the hell are they going to achieve this??

Asuran magic, Charr industrial base, Human ingenuity, Norn singlemindedness, and Sylvari intuition! Magic on all fronts! BTW, it's probably a trade secret.
Generally if they could provide hundreds of different instances with little to no lag in GW1, the technology is similar in this game...ignore the man behind the curtain that says persistence is harder and more demanding than instances. There are numerous threads here by people that deal with load balancing, servers, etc. that have explained the perception is not the same as facts!
While Guild Wars 1 can be played on a gamepad, it's awkward and really isn't built for it. In particular, targeting is rather awkward, and you basically have to grab the keyboard and mouse for quite a few things. It's not as awkward as playing Civilization IV on a gamepad (which I've also done), but neither is it anywhere near as smooth as playing Champions Online with a gamepad.

If Guild Wars 2 doesn't even run DirectX 11, then it can hardly be the most technologically advanced game. I don't think that ArenaNet has explicitly stated this, but some comments sure make it sound like a DirectX 9.0c game to me. Welcome to 2004.

Stereoscopic 3D is a dumb gimmick, and has been since the 1950s. That's not going to change in the foreseeable future, even though both Nvidia and AMD officially support it in their video cards. An approach like Nintendo's 3DS where it works without glasses, but for only one person, might make it viable. But it could easily turn into another colossal Virtual Boy flop.
The more likely thing to catch on is Eyefinity. Just as soon as monitor manufacturers decide that selling monitors to people who will buy three or five at a time is profitable, and then design monitors with appropriately thin bezels. Of course, that might also never happen. Getting a game to run on multiple monitors isn't so hard; getting it to arrange the UI in a sensible way, rather than shuffling things off into a far corner, shouldn't be too hard, but it only happens if a game company does it intentionally.
It's dx10 or sure... no word yet on dx11. Most likely not.
Where are the GW2 pessimists to remind us of the flaws of the game, or the exageratted hubris of the devs?
The GW2 community sounds like it is all in synch with admiration, congrats on that. No really, I think it is a good thing for a community not to be put down by others constant bickering.
Unlike the other games, which I now begin to beleive that their intentions are not for any postive goal. Except for the goal of turning people to the dark side. Which is not necessary since polls show in most games people choose the 2 factions equally. No need to turn others, really, you can stop now.
Write bad things that are done to you in sand, but write the good things that happen to you on a piece of marble
so i'll use my xbox controller and hook up my tv and play GW2? uhm.....................(speechless)
there were games like DAoC where there were 3 factions and not rly a bad guy
also i hope u mean bad guys as Alliance in wow and guardians in rift etc, ;p
In DaoC the factions would shift thier allegaince to fight the most powerful. That is different and interesting in its own merits.
So you are saying, if I understood correctly, you play as the opposing faction, and the 'good' guys are really the bad guys? I played Alliance, so I have to disagree. I am a good guy, and I am sorry to break it to you, but if I am good then, well, you know the rest....

I'm happy about controller support. At what minute exactly it is mentioned about controller support? Thx.

WTF?! They should never allow a controller in a PC based MMO!!!! This disgusts me to no end! I can't beleive they would turn my beloved GW2 into a virtual console port! It's not going to be available on PS3 is it? This is an outrage!!! How dare they allow my PvP epeen to be threatened by the argument that "I would have done better if I was using the same input device as you!" Who do they think they are?!?! I am the consumer and therefore I know what is right because the customer is always right, so I demand that they retract this injustice and alienate any players who are not like me!!! And I'd also like one of those shirts, like they wore in the video at PAX, they are nice. Gamepads and the ilk have no right coming any where near my game!!!!!
/end sarcastic rant
I didn't know you could use a controller. I would never use one in a game like this but I would love to show the benefits of a naga mouse and a g11 keyboard to some controller users via some friendly PvP.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

Being usable on a console is a step back in technology, not an advance so your title makes no sense.
They said controllers were usable, not that it was playable on consoles. Read the post before replying.
I wouldn't say being able to play on my iphone makes this technically advanced... just that they're planning features other games haven't done as much. I'd say the most technically advanced game on the market in terms of server structure, AI, ect is Darkfall or Eve.
It's just a map with in-game chat and possibly eventually some sort of crafting... not the real deal...

Ummmm what the hell are you raging about?
I'd say that GW2 can equal and surpass that, looking at the list of things that it will be capable of and has already shown with the GW2 demos and with GW itself (GW was 1 world and had background streaming patches, no periodical patch downtimes at all, hardly any downtime in 6 years).
