Actually there is an equal focus on both activities. As for the amazing part, I'd wait until the dust settles down and teams start finding synergies that work within a team and not within each individual class.

Agreed, it is blatantly obvious that the OP is making judgments based on low to mid-end player vs player experience.
Builds that lack the PVP soul at endgame, who intend on being competitive in any way, shape or form, are immensely hamstrung without at the very least a few of the benefits the PVP soul provides. Which, in turn, gives the enemy a massive advantage when you are engaging an enemy player ( who is competent with the role they play) that does have the PVP soul within there build.
Worthless? Far from it, in reality. It also doesn't require anywhere near a 21 point investment to become a viable, and efficient, part of your PVP build. 12 points is more than enough, anything else is personal preference.
CC gets completely out of control in the 30s.
A champion can kill someone 1v1 before they are un-stunlocked. Champions are vastly more dangerous than assassins and can kill things while stunlocked and initiate the stunlock from 20 feet away.
Yet I have to get to 50 AND level my pvp bar and number of times to get adequate CC protection? 20 levels? And for those 20 levels I do actually have enough skill points to use the soul if it wasn't pointless gated? Are you serious?
You can't put more than 5 points into a pvp soul you acquired at level 20 until you get to 50. This gives absolutely 0 CC mitigation except for a 5 MINUTE CD break. You want decent CC mitigation that is of some use in a Warfront you gotta get to 50. Absolutely no question. The only other option is to play a very particular and narrow selection of pve souls that have something and some callings basically have nothing but a snare break so the champs will still ass rape you raw and bloody over and over.
This is clearly bad design. If you can't admit that then you may have a problem.
I have no problem that they have a mitigation to the out of control CC in the pvp soul. I am in fact encouraged they thought of it. But then they dangle this thing in front and you and force you to get ass raped by champions and a few others for 20 frigging levels.
I play a Champion, all I have is a 3 second stun maxed out with soul points. Is that the CC you are talking about? I get a maximum of 3 AP build up attacks and the opponent is out of stun. If a bit squishy he usually just runs of while firing at me (yes some can fire at you without even facing you) I have no way to speed up and over take him. I die.
The grass always seems greener on the other side, on my side it is growing happily on my grave.

Rift is a PvE game
Rift PvP is for fluff and fun. There is no competive arena atm.
In other words enjoy Rift for his current Greenscale Raid Zone. Enjoy PvP scenarios while waiting for hte raid zone timer to clear.
Farm rifts for 7500 planerite and farm dungeosn for faction necessary to buy a few pieces of equipment.
I could not even make out what the OP was trying to say, did you? Clearly he had issues with PvP, but the post was so badly layed out I gave up on it.
