I bought rift.. got to level 40 and already bored out of my mind.. I really want to like it.. i keep logging in and trying to get into my character.. but Idk. its an awesome game I think the soul system kills it for me.. its a cool idea just too generic for me. anyone can at anytime be anybuild.. i for sure am not going back to wow..
Playing xsyon atm.. and loving it. I prefered the graphics of Rift but for some reason xsyon has pulled me in and I get completely immersed..
Me too, I can't figure out for the life of me why I don't want to stay logged in. I always log in hoping that I'm going to force myself to like it but it never works. Can't figure it out. I know I don't HAVE to like it, but I feel I'm missing something since so many people seem to be having fun and I'm not. Why does everyone love it so much? What am I not seeing?

I'm with you on that. After I left Silverwood on my Guardian the whole experience died for me. I keep jumping in and doing a few quests here and there but I get sick of it after about 20 minutes. The quests are so generic now compared to what WoW is. I just cancelled my subscription not too long ago but I'm not going back to WoW either. I think my Xbox is calling me.

I too had this problem during open beta.. Thats why i first canceled my pre order.. But this time around i've broken up the questing with Rifts/Warfronts.. I've prolly gotten just as much lvls from those then i have quests.. I actually rifted most of tonight and got a good chunk of XP from it and talked to some cool people on vent.. Was fun
Try other things besides questing.. Or it could be MMO burn out.. OR it could be that Rift just isn't for you lol
Currently Playing: Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
I'm loving Rift. As a casual gamer who can only spare maybe 10 hours a week, I tend not to burn out on games anyway, though I can see why those who play a lot more than me do get burned out as even i get feelings of deja vu sometimes.
I have to say, its the first game that's left me completely stumped as to how I can build my character. Usually I know which class to pick and how to build them but Rift is refreshing in that respect.

I think the same about radio music.
Taste just differs. There are no real reason that some people like Chicken while other prefer pork. It just is that way.

I just hate the quests but enjoy everything else. If more people were doing Rifts on my server then I'd happily Rift my way to level 50 and avoid all the quests as much as possible. I played WoW for 5 years so the game itself isnt the problem. I hate the redundancy of the quests and I'm constantly realizing that I just did that same thing but with different monsters 2 levels ago.
I've been bought into the game by the heavily-praised dynamic content. Look at their last video, they show an invasion, few rifts, have some people talking about how great they are and they conclude by "This is Rift"
Unfortunately, that is not rift at all. Starting from lvl 25 or so, people tend to avoid rifts. At cap level, almost no one does them anymore. The rewards from rifts and from rift reputation are just terrible. All that's happening at cap level is waiting for expert dungeons/warfronts or raids, if you're in a raiding guild. People have done those in WoW for the last 5 years tyvm. When you target a game at the people who want to leave WoW (or already left), you need to come up with more than that.
They market the game as an open world full with dynamic, cleverly designed content, open world raids etc. but unfortunately it does not take much for one to see that rifts are practically the same all the time (yea different graphics, colors, monsters, but just the same) and all there's left to do is the same instances and raids, instanced pvp and all.
Nevertheless, i've said to myself well the game is new, give them time etc. Therefore, i've tried to level a healer only by doing rifts and instances and warfronts - impossible, those activities do not generate enough gold even to buy next level skills. Even at cap level, you are somehow forced to do daily quests or gather/craft (i do not like any of those) to generate income. I want a game where the things i like to do ingame take care of the gold i generate.
Why would i continue to pay for something which:
- Forces me into questing, regardless of level
- Offers the same type of content as WoW, but in much, much smaller numbers (not that i'm going there anytime soon)
If you give up on Rift so soon I hope you have a good MMO you have not played to death to go back to, there is nothing now coming out until Autumn/Winter which has a hope of being as good as Rift.
mbh i am kinda glad that "alot" of people are going back to their previous game.....realy glad to see all these mmo-hoppers going back to their favorite game, rather have them whine about rift in their own game then to see them whine in rift chat.
So to al you quitters.....cya and enjoy your old game
but to be honest.....ingame i dont see alot off people leaving.....i guess most whiner are just full of it then hehe
I have not decided to leave to Rift but combat is repetitive. Game has some cool features, grouping, invasions, rifts, raids for world bosses etc but combat is repetitive. I always play dark caster in mmos and made a necromancer, warlock in rift. Game style is like keep 2-3 dots up and spam void bolt all the time.
I'm old EQ2 player, i just made lvl 6 wizard in EQ2 to check low lvl spells and stuff. My lvl 6 wizard has 6 spell and need to do timing to use them. I'm not saying EQ2 very hard game to play but it offers much more options to play.
As i said before, Rift is very cool game and i like it but i wish it has more unique combat system.
I find myself firing up Shogun 2: Total War rather than Rift. In fact, when I get home today, I'lle be playing Sims Medieval :P. I think that says enough.
There's only so much rifts you can do before they all become the same boring farming mechanic. And the warfronts.....well.....meh.
Ah well. I'm just glad I didn't pay full retail for Rift. That'd have been a waste.
I never had any thoughts what so ever of leaving or let alone going back to WoW. I must admit I only used WoW as a stop fill, was not impressed with it enough to go back, if I was to leave Rift it would be for another game.
I won't be leaving anytime soon. I expect to be playing for the next couple of years..at least.
Most of the posters I read about that are bored with Rift are younger players who play a straight line to max level.
I've been playing 4-8 hrs a day since early play and have only reached lv 32. Between crafting, harvesting, pvp, artifact hunting, general exploring, questing, socializing, and guild activities...I find leveling to be slow.
I've found that a mmo is what you make of it. I like to think out of the box and create my OWN content.
For example...I make my own quest.
Go find 50 tin ores, make 50 bars and place on the Auction house. Reward? 50 gold.
I'll probably quit.... But back to WoW ? ! Why the heck should I swap two almost entirely congruent games in design and mechanic?
If I'll go 'back' to anything I'll check out the RvR revamps in WAR or see if anyone is still raiding POTA in Vanguard. Likely though, I'll bridge the time until The Witcher 2 arrives, buy Crysis 2 when it's price dropped beyond the 10 bucks mark (which will be in august) and bridge to 11.11.11 when my alltime favorite Single Player CRPG ever ever ever rings the bell for round V... Skyyyriiiim!!!!1
And hopefully, then the year will turn 2012 and SWTOR is about to release.
Meanwhile I'll stay subbed to EVE, as I have been for the last 6 years.
IMO Rift seems to bring out the more mature players, and is going to start to shed the really younger crowd. Not picking on wow specifically but it is a good example of having a younger crowd that wants everything right now, run duegons that are easy, take no time to get new things, and easy to reroll to the new class that seems to be OP.
If any one is level 50 and says there is nothing to do, there is something wrong. I was one of those who rushed to 50, and is finding a ton of things todo.

I'll actually be coming to Rift after the first week in may... The afternoon after my last final!

So much to see ,so much to do... specially now that March 30Th is the first RIFT Worl Event
It will last one week with an epic invassion from the death plane...,epic loot like a Shadetouched Horse Mount....new Raid to defeat Even Boss...
Leaving?? WHY??? :P

Smart marketing. Trying the limbo players to stay, just to suck one more sub.

I think Rift is very good game so I am not planning on leaving
Currently playing: N/A
Retired from: GW, WAR, Aion, LOTRO, Rift, SW:TOR, Vinductus
I already left and I will not sub.
Why? Because it is nothing new. Why should I invest in a similar Game like many others I do not play anymore? Not worth anything of my money.
I played 1 to 50 encountered the "endgame" and already got bored after half a week. Dungeon- and BG/Warfront-Grinding.
No thank you.
Waiting for GW2 and hopefully something totally refreshing and new with the new Blizz-MMO in the next.. cough.. ten years.
Too soon I guess to ask for this. Give it a couple of months atleast.
My gaming blog
Glad that I'm not the only one who criticises these-days-MMOs.
