Nah. They've spent too much money on video, cut scenes, and voice-overs instead of immersive content. If I'm going to drop money for that, I'd rather just rent the movies.
The cut scenes, voice overs is just that.."immersive content"
If you just want to watch your game then perhaps. I prefer to play mine instead.
Cutscenes are vastly overrated.. hopefully there will be the option to skip them.. not sure why cutscenes should be considered immersive though.. as they often force you to complete certain activities in a certain way.. so that they don't look ridiculous... which if anything actually breaks the immersion.. voice overs.. same again.. whatever voice you expected or imagined a particular type of npc/char had/has might well be vastly at odds with the ones they assign to it.. imagine how Han Solo would sound if he had Luke Skywalkers voice... or worse.. Princess Leia's now that might be an extreme example.. but by having voiceovers their forcing you to accept their version.. which might be completely different to how you imagined them to be.. and the more your into RP'ing in games, the more likely this will occur..
dont buy the game if you dont like cutscenes its a game were you make choices i like that makes it intresting. if you like boring games with following single plots dont play it. dont buy it. mass effect 1 2 is huge because of it its bioware and bioware makes awsome games :P
I honestly get a bit confused when people claim they will outright not purchase the game due to X or Y.
I know our wallets are all thin, but for the cost of a few months subscription, you can play 60 bucks for activity for one month in an entirely new game. Experience it yourselves!
You can make your own decision.
I absolutely do not condone basing the purchase of a game on posted internet reveiews or PC Gamer mag articles. Positive or Negative, they sway you into thinking something due to reasons likely completely removed from your own goals and interest in gaming.
For a fact, the best games i've ever played are the ones I go into the store, see it, say 'what the hell' and get it, without ever hearing about it before.
I think it is too black and white to say because of X, I will not like it, because X is not my personality.
Try the freaking thing, tastes change, people change, you change. Maybe X is the best thing that ever happened to you.
Give things a chance.
Don't take the seed out of the soil for fear the flower will not be beautiful.
Right now I'm undecided because this year alone has so many games I want to buy (Brink, The Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 & Guild Wars 2) that I just don't think it's worth my time and money to get SW:TOR. If I do end up getting SW:TOR, it'll be when the box price has gone down enough and I have enough free time to play through that free month to my hearts content. The story for SW:TOR does seem like something I can get immersed in, but the MMO replayability just isn't worth my £10/month.
I'm buying the game regardless of some of the features or lack there of I don't like... I decided a while ago that I'll enjoy the game for what it is, not what it isn't.. I've realized it won't be an enhanced version of SWG, which did bum me out a while back, but now I don't really care... I'm just looking forward to playing the MMO set in the time of the Old Republic.. I've read the Darth Bane books and started reading Decieved, and all I can say is I absolutely love this Star Wars time period much more than Darth Vader, Obi Wan, and Luke period...
I'll play as a sith warrior class, then bounty hunter, followed by the sith inquisitor and complete their storylines before I quit.. So, I know I'll get my money's worth.. I've also been watching some of the vids and the group content does actually look fun and addicting..

Voted yes as i am big fan of Star Wars and Bioware. Whether i stay past the initial 30 days i won't know that until i get to play the game, if i enjoy it i will continue to sub, if not i won't bother resubbing. Regardless of that, i will be buying it!
I will buy and play this game because Bioware might be the only company on the mmorpg market that has the money, balls and ability to care about their roleplayers.

This game has started growing on me recently so I'm thinking about buying it, but it all depends on when GW2 comes out since that's the main MMO I'm currently looking forward to. I will eventually buy it though after I'm ready to take a break from GW2 (if that game releases first).
Sure, how would I know whether its bad or not if I dont play it myself? Go and read forums posts?
Couldn't have said it any better myself. If I went by forum posts on mmorp.com I wouldn't be able to play anything at all *laughs*. So I'll play it and see if it fits what I am seeking and if the number one factor comes into play.....fun.
While I'm fond of Bioware, I'm always skeptical of MMOs from the get go. I'm hopeful that it'll be an excellent game, but I'm not setting my hopes too high and expectations too high.

I am kinda on the fence, the game sounds far to much like a game that should have been a single player title to me, not a game with a monthly sub. I am also worried about the combat, hmm n/m combs tlooks fine other than the stupid stance when holding a pistol, when walking etc. I am just worried about how much of a MMO this game is I guess, which I won't be able to tell till I get into a beta. Also, if you can hit max level solo that is a NO-NO, I hate mmo's where you can just solo to cap they are boring, i'd prefer forced grouping myself since it forces people to work together. Honestly though, this game interests me more thasn GW2, GW2 just looks overly generic gameplay wise, like its trying to be another wow clone from what I seen.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Yeah the GW2 gameplay looks definitely like a WoW clone, even with no one tanking or healing. (¬_¬)
I'm not going to bother with this game because the combat is still the same point and click mechanic other then the "global agenda" combat mechanic. Combat is just about as big as the story its self its always there and is always being used. In the end its all about the combat. Once you reach endgame and go into pvp there is no more story only combat. Since they decided to go with the point and click I'm not going to bother buying the game because point and click + shooting = sucks. I think they would of had better luck with star wars battlefront combat mechanics.

The Jedi Consular just seems too cool to pass on.

I'll get it, some of my friends are also getting it. I'm not sure If I'll get it at launch or wait a few months.
Yes, I'll play it and I hope for a very long time.
So far the game seems awesome, and I'm just going crazy with all the waiting
