Oh, this game is great now!

ariargentoariargento Member Posts: 15

It's been a long time since I had this fun with an MMORPG :o

I bought Mortal Online on release day. After some hours trying to get into the game, all I could do was kill a pig and play the most bugged and unfinished game I've ever tried since Dark & Light. I basically ragequit. Those were like the worst spent 50€ in my game-life. I promised myself to never look back and never play that crap again.

However, after reading good stuff here and there, I decided to give it a chance and I reactivated my account. After spending this weekend playing the game, all I can say is: oh my god! This game is great now! :O

Coming from Darkfall, I'm really LOVING the almost zero grind that I have deal with in order to increase my stats. I'm being honest with you guys that in less than 8 hours of gameplay I was able to cap my attributes, start reading some books, get my combat skills +50 (some of them almost 100) and learn to tame and ride a mount. As people were saying, it looks like I'll be able to play with veteran players in less than a month. Great!

Also, I'm playing the game on a Q9550 and a GTX470 with 4GB of RAM. I can play the game in full settings with DX10 with almost no drops in framerate... considering I couldn't play the game when it was released without crashing every 10 minutes, Starvault definetly has improved the engine.

So, here I am, getting some rocks to craft some gear, and enjoying my return to this game. I'm really glad to come back, Mortal Online is starting to become the sandbox we all (or at least I did) waited for. Can't wait to see what's next with Dawn!

PD: Sorry for my english, I know it isn't perfect :P

I'd say it's more bad timing with a poor topic choice considering the current situation.  I'd have acted similar had someone on EQ2 or SWG forums claimed how great the security was at the moment.

Sorry this post just reeked of desperation.

Because the OP comes off more like a viral marketing ad than an honest attempt to praise the game.

  • I tried the trial, never played at release but it still seems pretty buggy but it is playable. It didn't work for me because all anyone was doing was chopping trees to grind skills......but i guess once you get done with that it's better? I didn't wait for it.

...discounting the fact that he's just excited and we assume OP has ulterior motives (sorry for dragging ya into this OP)...  Either he is a professional writer (lol?) paid by SV, or  he's trolling ya, in which case it's hiliarious that the most effective troll tactic in this forum is to say positive things about the game...

either way I lift my glass to OP ;)

If you look back to the OP's opinion 11 months ago http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/3615442#3615442, it's pretty clear that he didn't think much of the game before and that the current post is demonstrates how much progress he sees compared to that time.

Sorry to spoil, but the whole game is basically one big grind to fuel the PvP machine.

As Osmunda said, all I've done is express my opinion. I honestly didn't remember that post he linked, but as you can see, all I did here and there was an opinion on my experiencie with the game. I hated the game a year ago, and I'm loving it at the moment. That's it. I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy or not buy the game (well, I tried to do that last year, because I basically considered MO an scam lol), I'm just posting how much impressed I am after trying the game with all the updates it has recieved since the last time I played it.

1 year ago, I hated MO. Now I think it's a worth it sandbox :)

I enjoyed DF but hated the grind and the fact there was no specialization, basically it was ranged PVP with melee only to finish off the player. Very bland. But I loved the gameworld, graphics and the gameplay features and warfare PVP. Mortal Online seems like a good alternative, so I'll follow this thread and see what players think to this game.

I played Beta... I loved the game, but the constant crashing, horrible weapon balance, and hackers made it unplayable.

Have all of these things been corrected? If so I would glady give the game a shot.

Pretty amazing they have issues like this so long after release. Even more amazing how people put up with it and stay subbed.

No sadly, not even close. They did lessen the crashing for me. (May just be my new system I got since launch.) But the weapons are still unbalanced, with many weapons (Including my favorite type.) Are still decorational only.

Now all that is perfectly ok with me, crashes were minimal for me, and weapons while balanced by an idiot, you could still get one of the currently overpowered ones and get used to it like everyone else.

Now when you get to the hackers, thats where the game becomes unplayable. It is still hack ridden. (Just do a youtube search for MO hack videos within the last month.) The only hack I think they fixed was the flying hack. And I may be wrong about that, I just couldn't find a recent video for that one. Still... Wallhacks/Aimbots/Attack speed hacks/Speed hacks/And duplication hacks/bugs.

I very much want to love this game. Hell a FPS view only sandbox game, with elderscrolls skill system, and twitch combat? Hell yes. But it's made by a incompetant bunch of developers.

To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.

I tried it out but something weird kept happening when I launched the game. My computer sounded like a jet engine after my character appeared in the world, this is with no one else around out in the wilderness. I swear my computer was going to start hovering and fly out my window doing mach 8. I had to uninstall to keep my computer grounded.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

I just downloaded the trial, and as i should have known, crashes at character creation.  Ran the scan tool, relaunched, made a toon, now it crashes at loading screen.

It was the worst beta ive ever been in and now it wont even launch.  I guess its my fault...

I am playing the game and am hooked.  I dont really care if the mmorpg community likes it or not. It says alot when the most popular game on the site is WoW... with Rift, SWTOR, and GW2 in the top 10.

    Just sayin'

No one should care what ppl on forums say... just sayin, and I'm one of the people who say a lot of bs on forums.

OP I am in the same boat you are. Even with the minor rubber-banding issue I have experienced recently, the game is a lot of fun. It is a much better sandbox than Darkfall and I played that game for nearly four months. I am having a far better time playing Mortal and I am already contributing in PvP after just over two weeks.

Don't listen to all the negativity around here. There are people on this forum with literally thousands of posts dedicated to the destruction of this game... and they accuse you of having an alterior motive. Pot meet kettle.

I agree with the OP, and many others that have posted in this thread.

The skill cap promotes specialization.  The combat is visceral and more "realistic" than you'll find in most games.  To me, the FPV, lack of instancing, lack of teleporting all enhance immersion.

The game isn't perfect, but is a good fantasy sandbox MMORPG that has improved significantly over time.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that other people have made thousands of posts dedicated to the destruction of this game.

Anyways, I guess it doesn't really mattter because Mortal Online is about to hit it's one year mark next month.  It's still alive and better then ever.

Actually WoW is taking position 32 if you include the pre-released games.

Might give the trail a change, but really not expecting anything.

I dont think it's wise to label a community only because it got taste for well made and polished games, since it says a lot about you, just saying.
