No don´t bu it. There is so manu better MMORPG`s right now. Like GW and WoW. And this game ain´t even same class with WoW or GW! If you want better game buy WoW or GW, don´t waste your money to this crappy game.

If you don't beleive me your welcome to look at all my screenshots. You run smooth, but I never had lag until the CU. Its different for everyone, you should know that.
I prefer to solo, but I did not mind grouping. That is why I love City of Heroes, you can do either and excel at the game
And how exactly is the same game different for everyone?

Unfortunately many people think that getting Jedi is the final part of the game and end goal of it. That isn't the case, there is an entire game there without Jedi. I am doing the jedi quests myself because its FUN and I am enjoying it. I am not trying to grind out a knight in 20 days.
I agree completely Elnator, the sheer number of jedi running around is proof enough its too easy to acheive as it is considering the timeline the game is in. EVEN if the game was in the era of Episode I there would still be too many jedi.

Ok, first off, GW is not a MMORPG. Its a CORPG. It also uses instance sessions, of which there are none in SWG. I might not like the CURB, but lets be honist here man. Comparing the two is like apples and oranges. There just isnt a comparison.
As to WoW, never played it, but from what I've heard, they got their share of problems too. And it has instance'ed areas as well.
You dont like SWG, I agree. Least you could do though is list the points you feel are wrong with it, rather than just saying its a "crappy game". Makes you sound like a 10 year old.
SWG has instanced area's. Corvette and Wookie. I recall everyone wanting the dwb to be instanced. I recall alot of people asking for more instancing in swg to prevent griefing. That doesn't not make it a MASSIVE multiplayer environment.
Guild wars uses instancing on quests and missions to prevent a-hole griefers and kill stealing 12 year olds (no offense to 12 year olds) from bothering a group of players. Its massive, but uses zones. It is a mmo so don't slam my new favorite game. It is way more entertaining then swg which feels like a pointless grind.
Group size is the same in gw. So is specials timers. So is health. Its just a better game and the game rating prove it. Fanboi's of swg need to just look at the reviews.

Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). Guild Wars was designed from the ground up to create the best possible competitive role-playing experience. Success in Guild Wars is always the result of player skill, not time spent playing or the size of one's guild. As characters progress, they acquire a diverse set of skills and items, enabling them to use new strategies in combat. Players can do battle in open arenas or compete in guild-vs-guild warfare or the international tournament. Engaging in combat is always the player's choice, however; there is no player-killing in cooperative areas of the world.

Only certain parts of Kashyyk are instanced. Most of it is all open. I run into other players all the time doing missions/quests on Kashyyk.
Not sure on the Corvette, I've only been there once.
But 99.99999999999% of SWG is NOT instanced.
Do yourself a favor... don't compare GuildWars to an MMORPG... because as much as the fans of GuildWars would like to claim it's an MMORPG it's not. It's a CORPG.

Well I do believe when MMORPG.com does a story on the game and lists it as a mmorpg and its advertised as such you pretty much gotta call it an mmo dispite your objections to guild wars being one. It is. It just uses instancing on a far greater scale. I fully expect to have a full scale pvp area in the future of this game. That would put a hard end to your rants. Argue all you want against that point.
SWG COULD be a good game. It isn't. It isn't rated well, it doesn't play well, people hate the developers and the communication. We all know about the customer service. We hear about the bugs, the imbalances, the lag, the broken promises, etc.
It is a severely lacking game with TONS of promise. In 2 years its unfullfilled promises are making a lot of veterns sick of it and leaving.

Correction: SOME people hate the developers SOME people hate the communication. SOME people dislike the customer service, others have had good experiences. It's definitely much improved over what it was 6 months ago. SOME people think it's lacking. Others dissagree and find it very fun. LAG is almost 100% CLIENT SIDE... not the developers fault that so many people seem to INSIST on playing the game with minimum specs for their PC then complain that it runs slow.
If you don't like SWG then please, move on to another game and take your uninformed and non-factual rants elsewhere. The game is quite fun as evidenced by the FACT that more people play it than any other Sci-Fi MMO on the market.
SOME veterans left because SOME of them didn't like the CU, others did. The game is heading in the right direction. Many veterans left. Some veterans who left long ago have come back. Many veterans never left to begin with.

Promised: New Ships Missions and other paraphanalia: DELIVERED Promised: Multi-Passenger Vehicles... Delivered

Yes, all is not perfect. There ARE bugs that need to be fixed. There are some gameplay things that still need to be tweaked. Some professions were fundamentally changed, which angered some players. But to say that people are leaving because of 2 years of unfulfilled promises is untruthful.
People recently left for 1 reason: They didn't like the CURB. And that was only some of the players. Others love it. Others came back because of it. And new players seem to like it (so far).
Personally I think it (The CURB) was a good thing but, as others have suggested, I'll withold stating that it was a "Factual" "Good thing" until after I see some statistics on subscription numbers. In-Game observation, however, tells me that the game is growing in number of subscribers, not shrinking.

The curb was a huge nerf. Nerfs are never a good thing. Balancing the game is. The game isn't balanced as the cu documentation promised. Counters don't exist for roots, etc. Its poorly coded and the level system is busted.
Bottomline. It is a bad game. Look at the ratings. Best MMO on the market? Please! Very clearly WOW is. Highest rated among users, reviewers, has more subscribers, and is the love affair of the current mmo marketplace. I love guild wars. Its free to play online and is relatively bug free. I have yet to hit a single bug on gw.
Star wars galaxies you can't wonder past the speeder repair terminal with a bug allowing the fixing of busted BARC's without a repair kit. Or droids not working. Or commando being busted. Smugglers not smuggling. Key npc's stagnet doing nothing for 2 years. Merchants not working right. Factories buggy. Housing dissappearing with maintanence in it. Randomly turning off of harvestors. Bugged missions like the corvette 1 shoting everyone. Getting stuck in space stations. Broken loot tables. Servers crashing all the time. I mean this game is a rolling joke of problems. Please. If you want me to list the current ingame bugs and features promised and not delivered on it could take me a page of posts. You want every TH lie ever posted?
Bottomline. It is a bad game. --> in YOUR opinion. Not in mine. Speak for yourself. Look at the ratings. --> Yes ? In the top third of the ranking table. Your point is ? Best MMO on the market? Please! Very clearly WOW is. --> in YOUR opinion. If the only parameter you apply is number of subscribers than clearly Korean games like Lineage I/II are the best MMORPGs on the market. And SOMEHOW I am not sure if most people here would agree. Highest rated among users, reviewers, has more subscribers, and is the love affair of the current mmo marketplace. I love guild wars. --> Strange. EVERY new game that has been hyped before release starts on the MMORPG table with "highest rankings". Strangely enough, after a few months you find them all in the same region of the ranking table. Go figure. Its free to play online --> Then you have not understood their marketing scheme. That understanding will come soon with the first expansions. --> I laughed a lot about their answer on their FAQ : "Of course your character will stay competitive without buying the expansions !" --> MUHAHAHAHAHA. That was a good one. Wanna pull on my other finger ?
Star wars galaxies you can't
--> Oh yes you can. All the things you mentioned are true or have been true at some time. And despite that its only 1 % of the game and the other 99 % still make it an enjoyable game.
Servers crashing all the time.
--> Definitely untrue. Server crashes in my experience are VERY rare.
I mean this game is a rolling joke of problems.
--> Not more than any other major MMORPG on the market.
Dont buy the game if you plan on being a full time crafter , because you will not be able to go harvest your own resources without getting 1 hit killed. Many times you will not be able to go to you factories because of mobs outside of there.
Crafters are hosed in the game big time, many crafters have left the game due to the combat upgrade. I was a huge into crafting and some into the adventuring. I had 3 accounts , but SOE treatment of us has made it so really no point in being one.
Now crafters are FORCED to have combat professions if they wish to stay alive just for the harvesting. One reason I liked crafting for most part I didnt have to get a group to just go check harvester. I dont think I will return even if they figure out something for crafters. SOE half truths and empty promises have finally gotten to me.
I have been with the game since beta 2 and was one of the biggest suppliers of armor, weapons, houses, food, and later ships. I have tried the differnt combat professions and even have a jedi . I just dont think that SOE is the company I would want to work with any longer.

I AM a full time crafter with a whooping combat level of 7 and I mine resources by the millions, mostly on Lok (with an average threat rating around 40). I am doing fine. Its all about a change of tactics and a bag of tricks (like sacrifical droids and camo kits). My harvester runs take hours (--> many harvesters) and I rarely if ever am incapped and even more rarely killed.
Being in a guild and being able to call in fire support helps, but is not necessary to be successful.
I am not forced to have anything I dont want. I dont feel hosed. The game is more dangerous for crafters now and thats how it should be IMHO.
1) Lag and server stability. A year ago this was bad, it got better. Now its got far worse.
2) Bugs. The entire game is now effectively a live beta with bugs that are found in testing just getting pushed to Live anyway. So long as it doesn't crash a server it's alright seems to be the thinking. If it does crash a server, expect a two line mail from their Community Relations folk saying "Thanks for your patience, it'll be fixed 'soon'"
3) Bears NO relation to SWG as portrayed in the movies. "Any similarity is purely coincidental"
SOE's dev's have clearly gone completely fruitloops.

What server instability? The servers have not gone down at all. They were down an extended period for the CU, and a few took an extra hit where they had to be rolled back but there has never been a stability issue with the servers, so please explain.
As for lag, I have said it before, I will say it again. There is no lag, get a decent ISP or a decent gaming box.

Seeing most of my guild and friends quit the game , I dont feel like going out and joining a new guild and making new friends , since many were my RL friends who I joined with.
Yes, I know the tricks of harvesting , but stil many crafters I do know do not like the new game because it totally changed crafting. Such as really it doesnt matter really being a 12 point armorsmith or a 12 point weapon smith. I spent many days trying to get those points and now they are meaningless. So now really the item I make is not much better the joe blow . I took pride in what I did before , now cannot bring myself to even loggin into the game , as it more like a waste of time.
Glad you dont think they hosed crafters , but just stating my opinon on it. I do hope you are not one of the rabid fans who freak out if someone says anything bad.
Whats quite funny I had mined alot before I went to the hospital and gotten some unbelieveable resources which guess hasnt spawned anywhere near. Wonderful metals for SW got like millions of units of resources prob going to rot on my toon.

Ok, first of all, do not QUOTE me and then EDIT my words. Keep your words in your section of the post not in the quoted area. If you ARE going to ADD to the quoted area then do so in an different color.
I pulled all your words out of the area that's quoted to me and put them in your area above.
1) All games list minimum specs that are playable with minimum graphics settings for the game. SWG is perfectly playable using the minimum required specs HOWEVER you need to turn all the bells and whistles off. I know, I played it with minimum specs for over a year without a single issue.
2) You state that there was a "HUGE drop in subscribers" as a result of the CU. Please post where you get this information. The only OFFICIAL word on subscriptions post CU is that many veteran players cancelled their subscriptions to the game after the CU but their cancellations were absorbed by New subscriptions to the game. Which means that the game hasn't lost any subscribers if that's true. Now, I agree, that may not be true but, as of right now, it's the only OFFICIAL data we have so we have to go by it. In a month or so SirBruce will probably have data up for May and we'll be able to see for ourselves.
Anecdotal data, by PLAYING THE GAME and SEEING The login servers, tells me that the game is growing, not shrinking.
And yes, it is the largest Sci-Fi MMO on the market with 250,000 subscribers currently. You claim that it's "a huge flop". Please explain how one of the largest MMO's on the market is a "huge flop"?
FACT: Currently SWG is the #8 MMO on the Market by Market Share. It is the #1 Sci-Fi MMO on the market Subscribers per www.mmorpgchart.com latest data as of 6/15/2005 SWG: 250,000 EVE: 67,000 PlanetSide: 50,000 Second Life: 30,000 Sphere: Cancelled? No data in almost a year. Earth & Beyond: Cancelled... never had more than 37,000
So SWG, as compared to all other Sci-Fi MMORPG's that we currently have data for, has more subscribers than all other SCI-Fi MMORPG's ****Combined**** Furthermore, it is the #8 MMORPG OVERALL for number of Subscribers and if it grows much will move into the top 6.
Please explain to me how this is a "huge flop" 2 years after release? I will agree that WoW is wildly successful and is a great game too. But to try to claim that a game with 250,000 subscribers is just plain ludicrous.
I'm not even going to respond to the rest of your post. The first 2 items alone point out that you are just deliberately deriding the game because you want people to play whatever it is that you currently like.
The bottom line is, despite your claims, SWG is a wildly successful MMO that has stood the test of 2 years on the market. If trends in-game are any indicator it is on a growth trend now as well (we'll see in a few months when SirBruce has new numbers up).
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online. Sig image Pending Still in: A couple Betas
I believe they lost around 50k subscriptions, because when I checked last before CU they were at like 250k , but now they still at 250k, if you take under consideration that they released expansions, and new packaged game , and a movie came out. So for those who are saying the game is doing well etc etc with all this new blood. Wait for few months after the movie and all the ad's stop on TV and then we can really have basis of which to argue on .

FYI THey've had 250k subscribers for almost 6 months now. That's hardly "inflated" it's safe to say that 250,000 is accurate until stats come out showing it is changing one direction or the other...

I would say that that 250k stat is inflated. I've checked several stores in my area, little to no sales. Your basing a figure from before they started to nerf everything, to now. They lost several thousand, if not tens of thousands of accounts because of the CURB. While I'm sure they gained back some of the lost ground with new/returning accounts, to assume that they gained em all back is speculation, and poor speculation to boot.
Keep talking it up though. You might hoodwink a few poor souls.
Also, before you go talking up MMOGCHART.com, you might want to read his Analysis page.
Firstly, I rely on the companies and employees themselves to provide the bulk of the data. The numbers they give could be completely made up, and as Enron taught us, even financial reports could be misleading. However, given that none of claims seem highly outrageous, and that all companies are equally capable of lying, it would seem that the numbers given are pretty close to the truth. There is probably some minor fudging involved when a company wants to claim a major milestone, rounding up to the nearest 5K or 10K increment. But at the very least, the relative comparison between MMOGs is retained, even if individual data points may be off 10% or more
I often wonder, if devs are posting to promote the game, on these types of forums. I see on forums and through my experience the game is buggy laggy and the new system is awful. you can only play in groups to advance your charactor while i like role play and group fighting i also like single play in a role multi play invirement. Im sure others do as well. and most poeple agree as you can see in this forum. every once in a while you see someone saying its not laggy its your pc or some escuse that sounds like what the devs would say lol i have 1.8 pro and 1 gig mem 256 video card sorry if the game requirs you to have a 8.8 proc and 200 gig mem with a ungodly type graphics card id like to see that pc lol i dont think its the pc Dont buy it till they fix it thats my advice

LOL! Thanks for the laugh. You folks amaze me. Criticize me for using factual information then respond with this:
They lost several thousand, if not tens of thousands of accounts because of the CURB.
Based on.... what?.... the feeling you get when you look at your cousin? The number of stars you can count? The way the bones lie when you roll them? Some kind of voodoo knowledge?
There haven't been any stats released since the CURB except THIS quote from SOE themselves:
"We lost several veteran accounts when the CURB went live but over the past couple weeks new games sales have pretty much caused our subscription rate to break even". That was 2 weeks ago.
Where you get that they lost "Several Thousand" from is beyond me. Please... if you're going to state something like that, base it on facts. Fact is they haven't been shown to have lost any ground whatsoever. The most up-to-date numbers has them at 250,000 and the most up to date data (as of 2 weeks ago, which is post CURB by the way) states that new players joining and old players leaving was a wash at that point. Which means that, until otherwise proven, the 250,000 number is still valid. And I love how you state that 250,000 is "inflated". Go read some stats sites. They all say about the same number.
Also, people here keep saying that the game isn't selling. If that's so then why are independent press sources stating that "Total Experience" is "Selling out in Stores around the Country". I can attest to the fact that it has sold out here at my local Best Buy at least twice. Some guy here states that I'm lying because his Local EB says it's not selling at all. This being the EB where the store manager TELLS people NOT TO BUY IT (Well duh... of course it's not selling).
I'll stick to facts that I can find, not some hunch or assumption.
You don't like the game, I get it. But at least be honest. My stats may be old and based on a press release and based on the gaming media. Your stats are based on..... wait... let me check... that's right... your stats are based on NO FACTS or Reliable Data WHATSOEVER.
Hate the game all you want. Say the CURB sucked, that would be accurate since you obviously didn't like it. But to say the game is "dying" or "is losing 10's of thousands of players" is just plain farsicle.

and i bet you will be saying the same stuff too if you was a jedi so dont come at me with that oooooh all i hear is jedi whine this and that and the funny thing is that you dont know what we are going through to get jedi xp, normal profession xp is easy as hell to get and we all know that right but if you going to say all we do is whine then you dont have a clue what us jedi are going through right now

Fanboi's of swg need to just look at the reviews.
http://www.guildwars.com/faq/default.html
Never played with the Wookie x-pac, so I cant speak of that. However, one or two areas does not make it an instance'ed game.
In guild wars, aside from the towns and PvP arena's, its ALL instanced. Thats not slaming the game, thats being honist.

Correction:
SOME people hate the developers
SOME people hate the communication.
Please name the 'unfulfilled' promises that you speak of:
Promised: Jedi revamp: Delivered... not exactly what EVERYONE wanted but it's better than what was there.
Promised: PVP Revamp: Delivered... not perfect yet but a far cry better than what we had.
Promised: Spaceflight: Delivered.... in spades. Excellent addition to the game and very fun.
Promised: Combat Revamp/Upgrade/Rebalance: Delivered.... SOME don't like it... OTHERS do.... mixed reviews on this. It's still being tweaked a bit here and there as well.
Promised: New Ships Missions and other paraphanalia: DELIVERED
Promised: Multi-Passenger Vehicles... Delivered
Smugglers Revamp: Currently being worked on.

--> Have fun, Erillion
Have fun
Erillion

It is the #1 Sci-Fi MMO on the market
Subscribers per www.mmorpgchart.com latest data as of 6/15/2005
SWG: 250,000
EVE: 67,000
PlanetSide: 50,000
Second Life: 30,000
Sphere: Cancelled?

FYI THey've had 250k subscribers for almost 6 months now. That's hardly "inflated" it's safe to say that 250,000 is accurate until stats come out showing it is changing one direction or the other...
Where DID you people study statistics at? Romper Room University? [/b][/quote]

LOL! Thanks for the laugh. You folks amaze me. Criticize me for using factual information then respond with this:
