Yeah... It's called Ancient Greek Mythology. A MMO based on the Mythology would be epic. Of course all of the Gods would have to play a very big part in the game as most of the best stories have to do with the Gods messin' with each other using humans as pawns. A lot of the time the humans would get the upper hand however. Hercules, Xena, Clash of the Titans, Troy, 300, Jason and a Agronaughts and a whole host of other TV shows and movies are based on Greek Mythology. There is so much lore involved that a MMO would find it very difficult to encompass it all.

would a Tron mmo or maybe Planet of the Apes mmo work?

I think if APB had ever done well for itself from the start, we would be getting more games in the Cops vs Robbers theme, including Mafia MMOs, etc.
Harry Potter, while we all cringe at that idea, seems likely considering it's popularity.
Personally I'd want a discworld series themed MMORPG. It's likely both this and HP (up there^) has been talked about in development corners.
If anyone does it right, Zombie Survival MMOFPS/RPG are likely to become large in the future, possibly enough to get Resident Evil in a game's name.
Star Wars TOR with Star Trek already out might open up Developers to attempt more Sci-fi MMORPGs and MMOFPSes, nothing new but we could get Stargate and other popular sci-fi IPs going into games.
I am EXTREMELY surprised we do not have any popular whatsoever Wild Western MMOFPSes out. One.. is coming out? What was it called? Anyone? Hello? I have no idea. Lots of room for it though. Lone ranger, riding horses, shooting off horse, old skool guns and that dusty long coat + cowboy hat combo. It would be great.
Wizardry is coming out as an action, dungeon crawling MMORPG. It will be awesome. Here's hoping.
Pokemon has A TON of free online multiplayer games with those old Gameboy graphics. Lots of potential. Can someone give me a reason why I haven't seen a massive 3D Pokemon game out in development? Thanks in advance.

No, it was Roman Mythology which the Romans basically stole from the Greeks. There are some differences though not many. Also the transition from Greek to Roman cut a lot of the original Mythology out. Greek Mythology has a lot more to it than the Roman version.
Honestly you know a Tron MMO would suck because no one knows how to make a good Tron game any more.
Mass Effect? Possible, but only if Bioware really thinks outside the box of MMOs. I mean, ME never really makes sense as an RPG as it stands now. Looting bodies and having to buy upgrades and really all that detracts from the story.
