Sure I'm going to buy it, play it on the side when I get bored with a certain other MMO. But it really doesn't grab me as being the best MMO to next come out.
So far, all I've heard are optimistic statements with little to show for and back it up. Which leads to people imagining some thing fantastic before reaching the let down when they find out it wasn't what they expected.

Could you give us an example of these statements?
Doesn't this work differently? Like you actually have to give your opinion on why it doesn't excite you....
I'm guessing this is a troll post in response to the TOR doesn't excite me article? OK I'll bite
There is a wealth of video examples of gameplay and a lot of positive reports from those that have hands on experience, so tell me what of that gameplay and first hand reports don't back up what we know of this game?
This will be an awesome thread. Mark my words!!!
BOOYAKA!
It does not excite you, but you are going to play anyway? is that like food does doesn't excite me but I eat anyway. There is no rule that you have to buy GW2 and play it.
Uhm maybe he simply hasn't seen anything that's been presented that excites him?

I think the OP is trying to parity the "SWTOR Doesn't excite me" featured article....
Remember Old School Ultima Online
That is like saying, "this girl doesn't excite me, even though she looks hot and I am going to bang her anyhow.." xD
I'm somehow OK with this.
I do think its odd how you're buying it anyways. So, I'm not real sure what you're motives are.Actually, I am, but I don't want to get banned for pointing out the obvious.
GW2 doesn't excite me either and I really haven't seen anything to make me go ohhh and ahhh, I won't be buying or playing the game. I was following it thinking it would be something worth checking out but it's just another generic fantasy MMO, hell I didn't like GW1 even though people raved about it. I can tell you this if it was sub based people would be bashing it just as bad as they bash ToR, but since it B2P it's the next best thing since sliced bread. I can see people playing this game for about 3 months and than looking for something new to play. MMO players today are not like MMO players of old, back during EQ and AC and alot of the older MMOs. You picked your game and you stayed with it for years, now it's hop along from the next big thing to the next up and coming big thing.
Neither TOR or GW2 excite me, they do have my interest though (which means I'll pick them up). Interest and excitement are two different things, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Maybe you are right. But I highlited the part I was addressing so there would be little confusion and I see you still were!! Nothing wrong with an opinion but he stated something that was not only NOT an opinion, but was false. If you want to dislike a game by all means have at it, But if you want to make a thread stating such have your reasons for it and at least don't spit misinformation. {mod edit}

The game has been in production since probably before 2007. So far we've seen mediocre class skills, generic fantasy world shots and pretty much lacking the demonstration of how their persistent world is going to work out.
I'm seeing a lot of hype and praise for Guild Wars 2. How ever I'm not seeing what justifies it from being set apart from the other fantasy MMOs out there.
The main selling point is that it is buy to play and has a cash shop. Great! Is that it?

Great rant.
The only topic you failed to touch on was how you think WoW destroyed MMOs. Oh wait, ToR fanboy. I'm guessing WoW is your thing.
See this is how you state an opinion. And I can respect that.

I was referring to what you highlighted, He said he hasn't seen anything to back up peoples optimism, that's a perfectly valid opinion, nothing false about it if it's his opinion.

I agree with the OP, GW 2 just isn't up there bery high on my list of upcoming anticipated games. Even with everything I have seen and read about the game it just doesn't super interesting to me. Then again I didn't care much for tht original GW game so in a sense I am already a bit predisposed to wards not liking it. But I have been following it and I amjust not feeling it like I am for SWTOR, TSW and other potentially interesting MMO's like Archeage.
Nope and there is plenty of posts and discussion and videos pointing out what the game has to offer if you cared to look. Next

What is soo generic about GW2 in comparison to other games? I am afraid you have little evidence apparently for such a statement.
Things that are green are your opinion, and do not really require argumentation. Things that are yellow need argumentation and/or explanation. Things that are red are false, end of story.
Now that is blatantly false, they've shown plenty on how the persistent world will work out.

I didn't like GW either, but the two are very different games. I guess you're a predisposed as I used to be, but if you put some effort into really looking what's it's all about then you might begin to anticipate it even more than WoW in space.
Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...
I don't think that WoW destroyed MMOs, I think it's the new generation that WoW brought into the genre that is destroying MMOs. I played AC from 1999 to 2004 and during that time couldn't no other MMO pull me away from AC, WoW was the first and only one to do so. It was fun until all the low attention span people joined the fray, but still I played from launch until Cata with Cata killing it for me. I am not an MMO hopper I pick a game that interest me and stick with it, if Bioware was making something other than ToR I would still be interested in it, because I am not a diehard Star Wars fan. But I am tried of generic fantasy MMOs.
Well I don't see him referring to "peoples" statements only "peoples" interpretation of what information was put forth. It sounded to me like it was claiming Anet has put out false information and people are picturing nirvana from it. Read it again word for word. He wasn't saying "peoples optimism". If that was the case then how could the "people" show anything to back it up? We aren't the develpoers.

this isnt an insult, but just how i feel. people who arent intrigued by GW2 make my blood boil, kind of like standing in the middle of a republican convention. i'll refrain from commenting further.
