I am still getting the "This website is coming soon" message so I can't see what you guys are seeing. I do see the forums still though.
I am sure at this moment Dave from Limitless Horizons (Admini) is trying to figure out how he is gonna get the million or so he sunk into this game back...

Ok a few thoughts about the latest development in the Mourning saga. First of all, I am deligthed that Mourning has been took offline, and put back in closed Alpha. This is a victory for all MMORPG.com people that fought this battle, and for all consumers in general. That shows that consumer power is paramount and if we stand up for our rights we can change the course of history.
At last someone in the Mourning team decided that this game as it is, couldn't go too far.
It could be Dave, who decided to invest more money on the project and get it finished before release (unlikely). It could be the dev team who decided that this game was ruining their reputation (as if it was anything to ruin in the beginning) Or maybe someone bought the rights for Mourning and decided that it would be a nice idea to put the game back in development before selling it.
Whatever the reason is, this is a very welcome decision, and shows that unethical business is not accepted by the MMORPG comunity (which is a sign of maturity, we are not just game freaks).
Whatever happens to this game, I don't think I will ever buy it, too much baggage. But if the game goes in hands of a decent company and it improves drastically, I might give it a shot, who knows.
For now I am happy that our perseverance made this happen (well, it s not just us, the game was a bad advert by itself, but we made our bit). This shows to our critics that our battle was worth to be fought, and we weren't trolls after all, but we had genuine reasons to behave the way we did, and in the end facts proved us right.
So cheers to everyone
And special thanks to: -DarfelCadarn -Bitey -Razorback -Harelin -Fadeus Sorry if I forgot to mention anyone
(Ok, I know that the last part it s a bit cheesy, but I couldn't resist )
Anyway, Let me clarify a few things. The e-mail sent to all the accountholders in the game said that the game was being returned to alpha because a new investor had come on board that was willing to pay for the extended development time. You'll notice that no mention was made of a thread where anonymous people posted for seventy pages about how crappy the game was. The devs would have gone right on charging people if this new guy (Asian distributor) hadn't come along with some cash. Make no mistake, I applaud the return to closed beta, as long as this means that the devs will focus and start pumping out the updates like they were doing a month or so ago.
But don't let me interrupt your internet victory celebration. Keep patting yourselves on the back.
EDIT: Dozer: the e-mail says "Due to restructuring and new investment deals; all current subscriptions to Mourning are scheduled to be terminated and the project will be placed back into closed development status."
I assume that's a closed beta or alpha, whichever term you prefer.
Originally posted by D0ZeR I must be missing something, where does it say the game went back to alpha?
Well the e-mail says that the game will be brought back in closed developement status, and since it was in open Alpha, now becomes closed Alpha (That was just a sarcastic remark mate)

As you can see I am aware that it is not all our merit, but we did our part. At least we warned MMORPG.com member of the Mourning issue, and we contributed to the lack of subscriptions that lead to this decision. At least we tried to do something about it, unlike people like you who accept all the shit companies throw at them and thinks that everything is gonna be just fine. So yes, i will keep patting myself on the back and enjoing it, if you will excuse.
PS: Of course you won't see the devs admitting that it was all fault of Ste2000 and friends, that would be way to much to swallow. And the post was meant to be a bit over the top and it was meant to mock the devs and their arrogance, rather than a self celebration (although I don't mind if it came across as such)
I think it's kewl that it is gonna still be developed. One thing about the game and all the venom it garnered is that people DID want it to be good and that it had some promise (or else why are all the people bitching, lol just to see themselves post?). I hope they fix it up so I can have a try when it's finished.

Cheers, Ste.
And Pajari, the impact this MMORPG.com thread and previous threads had on Mourning was undeniable. If it wasn't a factor in closing down the game for more development, that just goes to illustrate how blindly they insist on fumbling around to this day. A reasonable person would acknowledge our sound and well based criticism, and respond professionally both with action and words. Mourning lacked action, had no shortage of words (aka fuel for the fire), and thus failed to ever achieve a significant player base... word of mouth is what drives small development companies and the only word of mouth Mourning could manage to spread was negative. I see it as a pretty black and white situation where that's concerned.
In any case, if a new 'investor' is the only change that has come around... my skepticism continues to reign, when I consider just who actually might have had the poor judgment to invest in this game. Not unless they were capable of really shaking things up in exchange for monetary support. Simply picking up a new investor is like patching a blown tire with scotch tape - they're not going anywhere until they change their way of thinking.
It is true, though... that once upon a time I was excited about Mourning. I think that excitement is possible again, some day, under a new name or reputation with the original feature list... perhaps when Mourning has been sold off to another development team.
And Pajari, I guess dealing with being so wrong can be tough...

Good Riddance Mourning!..... for now anyways, we must remain vigilant so that people are not ripped off again. This game was a SCAM andpeople got ripped off by Mournings pre order system. Wow, I just back from my trip, and really can't believe any of this happened. The power of this thread is truly undenialble now, and proof that the customer does have the power to change business practices. I personally think this is the end of Mourning, and mostly likely Dave has already bailed his investment on the game. If it is still alive, it will be years before they come back out again. This thread will be here to remind them if they want to act unethical again. So thanks for everyone's support of this topic!
I would like to ask now whether Brian was invoved?
I think it too soon, unfortunately to count out Mourning. A Korean Publisher has signed on as well according to reports, putting in some capital... The games publicity is so bad, it does not stand any chance of Making Dave Jasinksi any money, and thats a good thing...

Ah- so is Dave/Old Publisher out of the picture? Is the Romaian Dev team staying on?
As long as there gone, all the luck to a "new" mourning. If not, it's going to be the same old story again.
