Well good for them. Lots of guys playing female characters will be happy.

That will not stop the controversy. It'll just morph into something else.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Kudos for BW recognizing what fans want and putting forth the effort to make it happen, albeit a bit late.

I respect that. I wish they would explain why they apparently "forgot" this, but I guess that is too much to hope for.

I am on the fence now. Companies promise a lot of things. Like WOW and housing. Maybe I wait until they add SGRA. I am glad however for this (even temporary, until manifested) victory of reason.

To each their Own. Its a virtual world they should be able to do what they choose as long as it doesnt interfere with enjoyment of anyone elses play.

Clearly not because now all the homophobes and religious zealots are losing their ever-loving minds over it... There's no way they can "win" really, but at least they are trying.

I honestly don't see the point in having any romance options in an MMO, but that's cool I guess.

    Groovy.

Due to the design constraints of a fully voiced MMO of this scale and size, many choices had to be made as to the launch and post-launch feature set. Same gender romances with companion characters in Star Wars: The Old Republic will be a post-launch feature. Because The Old Republic is an MMO, the game will live on through content expansions which allow us to include content and features that could not be included at launch, including the addition of more companion characters who will have additional romance options.

    Great news, tbh.

Means I won't have to date penisses while playing female toons.

Role-playing, you know, that "RP" part of MMORPG?

Didn't realize there was a controversy.  Do people really care either way?  Waste of resources to worry about such a trivial feature when they can be working to improve the much more important parts of the gameplay.

Wonder if we can have an article about how Bioware are breaking the mould.....

Good to see once again that they are responding to the reasonable concerns without compramising them selves or the design of the game by pandering to everything.

Its almost like EA were not incharge of their community relations.........

People do care, they don't think its a waste of resources to have more options, a lot of folks don't see it as trivial at all.  A lot of other Bioware games had the option included and people didn't say "oh I wish they had spent that time developing more gameplay rather than adding in more voice overs.

Date Penisses? lol What difference does it make. I heard they are adding options to cut them off if someone is rude to you while playing a female character. I think that adds realism, don't you? lol

I don't either, especially when there are thousands of other players in game that you can "role play" with.We are still talking about MMORPGs right? I remember quite a few of those in Galaxies and I didn't see anything stopping players from doing the same in this game. I didn't even know there would be romance options with NPCs until this supposed "controversy" erupted.

Oh really? Have a little google for the views on same sex relations which will be included in ME3 and what people would rather they do with their development time.

I agree. This whole manufactured "controversy" looks a lot like a mole hill trying desperately to prove it's a mountain. The phenomenon is like my local news station manning their "Storm Center" . Manufactured sensation. I bet most gay folks are bright enough to provide their own romance options.

Seriously? There is controversy over this? Fake, scripted romances?

Good for them. The people with the insecurities and immaturity can champion their causes some place outside of this game. This game is inclusive, and if they don't like it, they don't have to choose that option.
