Those are trades on that date, todays was 6500 shares. ($202 USD worth) SV stock consists of 29,838,000 shares
Which barely covers the cost for the Unreal3/Atlas solution, if I'd have to guess.
So basically the "worth" of SV is not in what it made in a game, but really just the licenses it holds for the Unreal Engine and Atlas solution. It's actually pathetic. It's not even a penny stock any more.

I was thinking of buying the building my business is in. It is $350k so for a little more I can buy MO?

If anyone had the slightest interest in buying MO, now would be the time. The stock was worth 20 times more last year at launch, 20!

SV also had debts around $270,000 at the end of June, plus its loosing roughly $20000 a month. It'll cost you $940000 for a company "worth" $670000 @ todays .15 SEK
No body with a basic sense of Finance would touch this stock. Its basically buying a company 1 step from bankruptcy. the fact that the stock used to be worth so much doesnt help it either.

Henrik won't give up his shares, because he is deluded into thinking that they are worth more. If he sells everything, he's still liable for his debts, which I think at this point, are more than the company is worth.
I really tried to get into this game. I gave up, went back, gave up, and went back again...but ultimately, MO doesn't do it for me. In a sandbox, I want more simulation and less full loot pvp retardation.
This is just my opinion, but maybe the reason this PvP-centric formula of sandbox isn't successful, is that fans of sandbox games want to create, rather than destroy.
Brilliant post !
Someone gets it. Now just need someone who can actually make a modern game to get it.
Full looting pvp, or pvp where gankfests are allowed really doesn't interest the general mmorpg market thats why these games never really take off. People who like this type of gameplay probally are the lowest minority of the mmo marketshare. CLosest thing to a decent sandbox is prob fallen earth, all it really needs is the abilitiy to build, attack, and destroy buildings.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Holy CRAP ! 0.15 SEK, new all time low...they're done, end is near this time...
yup, this time for sure... well, maybe next quarter... or the one after that... who knows.
anyone who can look at numbers. Its pretty simple, SV are out of money and keep losing money every month. When their debt will reach the point of no return, they won't be able to pay bills no more, when they can't pay the network solution bill, its over.
Only solution would be that some bigger company buys out SV, but since SV's stock keeps going down and its value is close to nothing and has an increasing debt, nobody will want to buy it.

You may well be onto something there! I know it's what I want to do! Also there's the simple fact that the game in question is just so completely broken, and/or never worked (various features promised).

That actually isn't a bad idea. How low will their value have to drop before a real developer will buy them, gut the staff and replace them all with qualified individuals? Then maybe SV could be prevented from ruining any future attempts at making a true sandbox MMO, as it was originally conceived way back when. First, a few things about this 'stock'. You have to be willing to sell your shares; so that means Henrik, and the shares he owns, has to be willing to part with them so that the ownership of the company will transfer to somebody else. I doubt highly he'll sell because let's face it -- his daddy gave him the money, so he has no care to keep it all.
Secondly, even if somebody "bought out" the shares, they get everything -- INCLUDING the debt obligations of StarVault. So that means all the money that SV owes to people now becomes the problem of somebody else.
So in a nutshell, let's just face it... nobody's going to buy this game out, because no sane person would want to take over a game that is poorly coded to try to "fix it". The effort would be *less* if they just re-coded the entire game from scratch, because at least that way it would be supportable and scalable without breaking stuff. That's why with every patch, SV breaks a lot more new things. There's only one place that MO is going, and it starts with the push of a lever, and ends with a "flushing" noise.
Agree! I can't see anyone buying this train-wreck, there's just so much baggage attached even if the current owner would sell. This is going down the drain, just a matter of how soon. More I read lately even many of the most frothing-mouthed fanbois are finally seeing the truth of this.

Spoken like a person who truly understans whythe most recent crop of sandbox games aren't doing it for most mmo players. I remember walking around SWG with my rebel toon totally oblivious to the storm trooper around the corner ready to pull out his AT-ST to pwn me and only realizing what happened when it was time for me to head to the cloning facility as I looked up at that gigantic mass of steel. And even though I'm not a pvp player this was something I was always willing to accept because it was a small part of what I was able to do in the game.
Fast forward to games like DF,MO, and FE and it seems like a runaway train much of the criticism heaped on these games early was met with declarations of "go back to wow this isn't the game for you" and I recall so many times over telling people "think what you want to but the lion doesn't hate the buffalo" in fact it's the opposite he needs him because without him there is no meat to eat.
Maybe the next crops of games will come to understand this and know that exclusion is not a good practice when dealing with a medium that has what amounts to a limited pool of people to serve to begin with.

Disagree. Mortal, Darkfall, etc. have easily enough _potential_ players to make the companies financially successful, purely based on pvp oriented players.
The core issues in Mortal keep the PVP players AWAY from the game, because the major issues impact large and smallscale pvp. If those core issues could be fixed, the pool of players would be in the thousands, not the 100 or so people playing right now.
Darkfall was more of a grind issue, and the new grindless system coming soon(tm) might well see a big spike in DF population.
But yes, even the PVP players want to be able to build more than the useless buildings offered in Mortal.

I'm thinking you're both right. There are two ways to go - PvP Centric or Build Centric. Trying to cater to both doesn't seem to work.
If they'd fix the game's core issues they would have a fine PvP Centric sandbox. I suspect it would be harder to create a good Build Centric sandbox out of these ruins but I could be wrong there.

Unfortunatly, no. It will still have the same bugs, exploits, lack of players and bad developers...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
