BioWare heads Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk just announced the EU and NA launch dates and subscription options for Star Wars: The Old Republic. December 20th for the NA, and December 22nd for the EU. Yes, of 2011. Mark those calendars!
“This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at LucasArts who have dedicated their lives to build this extraordinary game. We appreciate the patience from the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game’s release.”
It's also worth noting that those who pre-order will still get early access, so if you're anxious to get in ahead of everyone else and you haven't already done so, you may want to pre-order now.

Just read my email, knew from the title it'd be the release date
Just in time for Christmas, pre-ordered so I get early access too!
Feel for the Bioware guys, they'll need to work over xmax/new year that is unless Bioware are so sure there wont be issues, there are always issues at launch.
Finally! YAY! I am sooooo freaking excited!
Good to see the pricing reflecting exchange rates, that three month deal looks inviting, will keep me going until TSW is released in April, unless GW2 turns up first.
yeah thats awesome news.
Great video, somehow it managed to make me even more excited...

Yay! Only 11 more months to go!
Seriously, did they use that image or something for the Eurogamer Expo?
<childish, provocative and highly speculative banner about your favorite game goes here>
Any one know how "early" early game access is? I guess a week?
It's actually an old video they just spruced it up a little and tacked the release dates on the end, but it's still freaking awesome. 8)

They have not said yet, but I would presume no more than a week... Maybe they will announce it today.

Great news, just hope they are ready by then with all the news about pushing the release date to next year you kinda have to wonder if this was EA forcing them to get it done. Eventually you just have to say its done, you could try and improve the game forever but eventually you just have to put your foot down and say "its done, lets release it".
HEAVEN OR HELL
Duel 1
Lets ROCK!
I'm personally betting on the weekend before launch, as in Friday-Monday as the head start.
But I'm sure we'll know more soon.

My Review Manifesto
Follow me on Twitter if you dare.
Personally I'm voting for December 15th or 16th as the start of "early access".
Then I can add it to my conspiracy theory list of things. *.* Well I would have to start that list first but I would totally add this to it if I start it.
players from Eu who get game from other countries which are not supported at start, will they be able to play the game, i mean i hope we wont be IP blocked?
BW/EA has repeatedly said, there will be no IP/Credit card blocking.

No Christmas break for EA/BioWare employees
That's kind of terrible actually.
20-12... a bit late i would say..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Finally so now the overhyping can continue for two months and then die off.
For Bioware employees thats horrible no christmas holidays seriously?
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
So there was not really "all this news" about the date pushing. That was the community making a big deal out of one very speific statment but the CFO in the EA investor call where he stated that "It could slip ot Q1 2012 if something goes wrong". While I am paraphrasing that was the extent of the comments about 2012. Bioware never faltered in saying it was on track for 2011 holiday.
just got the email, its like the formation of some new holiday or something.
Uh, Dec 20 2011 is 11 months away? What?
