That means if you're in testing, you're still bound by NDA. Only press who have been admitted will be sharing their impressions.
Simple rule on press embargoes: unless you've been told you're under embargo, you're a tester. Ergo, no, you can't talk about the game.
Edit: Due to popular demand and the thread title not being accurate enough after 8 pages we have agree'd on a new thread title.

This makes no sense, we can't talk about stuff that is public knowledge as of tomorrow? Is that what he's saying? Bollocks

We can't, but news sites can on ONLY what they see during that reveal
Ive made no secret of the fact that I think this game is way over hyped and have recently decided it is over protected as well. Something smells and I think that smell is pre order money.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
So we can neither confirm nor deny what they have to say? Again makes no sense, NDA by agreement covers unreleased information, not public knowledge. This is a definite first for me and I've been in most beta's since eq2...

I'm sure you will find plenty of people on this site who would revel in all of your negativity about this game. All games have their bad points, but did you ever consider that the game wasn't targeted at you? I'm a beta tester and if the NDA were lifted tomorrow, I'd have a plethora of postive things to say about the game and yes, some negatives as well, but I'm not under the impression that any game will ever meet 100% of my expectations either, unlike some posters on this site who deem any game a failure that doesn't meet every expectation.
I would also suggest that people do plenty of research and that does not mean browsing forums filled with speculators. Find out what the game is, who it's intended audience is and determine if it has the majority of things that you expect from an MMO. Don't just read the reviews from hands on players, but take into account where their point of view is coming from. There are several bad reviews out there, but most of them admit that they either don't like or play MMOs or that they're burnt out on the genre in general and are looking for something completely different. TOR is a new game, but it uses many of the typical MMO paradigms and mechanics. Some reviewers state up front that they prefer first person shooters, but then turn around and complain about an MMORPG that doesn't use FPS mechanics, so of course they are going to have bad things to say about the combat.
oh I am well aware it is not targeted at me. I just felt the need to let you guys know about this nda lift. Puremallace currently will not be gracing you with his presense when ToR launches.
So your opinion is all that matters, thanks for that. I ve already pre ordered, and have also been in beta. No way will I cancel my pre order, it s that good. Not everyone likes the same things.
Edited out my viewpoint since this thread is shifting from the intended purpose to inform. My bad.
I read the tweets and i dont think he means you cant talk about the game at all if thats what you are implying.I think he just means that press gets to talk about stuff that isnt released yet but testers are not aloud to release information.
I'd hope that's what it means, though his wording seemed pretty straight forward. "Testers can not talk about the game". I'm sure there will be a calrification here, as most people in beta would assume it's fair game to discuss released information. Just as they would be able to in any other beta test.

Does this mean that those of us who have seen beta, but are not testers, are allowed to spill anything on these forums?
Makes perfect sense to me. Most press try to suck up to developers for hopeful advertising dollars *cough*, exclusive interviews, beta slots, etc. Even if they see things that make them go... ech... this sucks, they are still going to blast rays of sunshine up our rears as to not risk angering the production company. It is a win win for them. More happy joy joy press to lull potential customers into laying down $150 for a CE with minimal risk of anything bad leaking out.

Boo.
no, the mods here don't allow any NDA breaking material to be posted. doesn't matter if you are the one that signed the NDA or not, they will still delete the posts if the breaks the NDA. its one of the reasons i always try to provide links showing what i post comes from the devs
You can't fight stubborn, fooilsh, impatient or outright rude people with logic. If that were the case, we could all go home.
No, it's not a party when your sober. You gotta get real stupid until you are willing to endorse the most assinine conspiracy theories out there, and then it only gets fun if you start adding some of your own.
Like how this game is really vaporware.
Oh, wait. Someone beat me to it.
AFter reading all of his tweets it seems pretty clear that no matter what testers can not talk as of tomorrow, even about what is released. We're still bound by NDA, "only press will be sharing experiences"

just to try and temper peoples expectations, i wouldn't get too excited about lots in depth info regardinging game systems and the like. my guess is what we will get will be similar to the article from pc gamer UK last month(i think it was last month) in which the writer had been in the beta and was writing his impressions.
I think the millions of people playing TOR at launch will survive.
I am sure without a doubt they will. I do not want to be that guy crying for features I had in Rift and wanting Bioware to do it in ToR. Last thing I will do it doom say about the game because everything I have seen indicates it will be a good game. Just not for me.
We'd survive as well without replies like this...

Seems stupid. Why call it a controlled NDA lift. Thist isn't the first time they've let game Journalists give impressions about the game based on "limited" information...
Hmm i dont understand this really...I dont think they would just make it so people cant talk about the game at all.Just unreleased stuff but i geuss we will have to wait and see.
"When you played the world was still out there, but for the moment it didnt have you by the throat."
I am really hoping they can pull a TOR launch off, but after experiencing how badly Rift was overhyped I won't be preordering until i get some noncontrolled NDA information. I can understand them being tightlipped but we are getting fairly close to the launch date and still no news from actual players. This kind of control definitely makes me more reserved but once again let me state that I hope they can pull it off.
No.
Do we really need an NDA drop at this point? The game is maybe 6 weeks from release, depending on when early release starts, and Bioware is still worried about controlling the amount of information leaking out. That pretty much tells you all you need to know about TOR.
