Well, if there is anything I've learned on these forums in the past few years, it is that every new big-time game coming out is both, "the greatest game ever," and "a steaming pile."

So, yeah, I've learned to wait and see for myself.

It's a proven historical fact that beer saved humankind.

Nicley written, I am going to do just the same...got my invite for this weekends beta event and am just going to dive in..I cant wait. i have been a SW fan all my life and I would still be playing SWg if they hadnt screwed it up so bad. Yes..I dont really rely on others to form my opinion.

The game going Clone Wars style and the combat seem simple and very cartoonish. So... whats the age on most SW fans? 7? or are they born in the 70's and 80's?

Then why make this childish game Bioware???

  • MothanosMothanos Member UncommonPosts: 1,910

    Engine looks like WoW engine.

Way to much Storytelling....wich makes it almost an rpg rather then an mmo.

Not to speak about the combat flow wich seems horrible outdated.

Battlegrounds instead of real world pvp also seems like a bad choice as people rather stand in queue joining a battleground then search for real world pvp.

Wich kills world pvp in the 1st place....just look at wow and battlegrounds and you see what i mean.

Meh i pass and hope one day we get a real Starwars mmo wich feeds the real STARWARS universe with massive ships battles ranging from tie fighters to massive battleships.

Still i hope Bioware succeed, but it might not make it when Diablo 3 / GW2 / and other good online games come around.

Sure it will have alot of fans playing but it will not be enough to the standard of what bioware expected.

I remember Aion and Warhammer also being praised to heaven and fell down the horse 2 or 3 months after the launch.

I just want to get into beta and see the game for myself.

BW/EA has made MANY mistakes over the years. From ignoring whole EU to launching only in "selected few" countries.

But what I am expecting is a good game and hopefully a fun timesink.

:D What rubbish. Anyone who, ‘was there on opening day for each of the first three.’  Is a fully certified fan.

Calling for 'calm' on the internet never works. NEVER.

That being said, I am on the 'Made by Bioware -> Here is my $$$!!! GIVE ME! NOW!' camp. :)

If a game reviewer pre-orders a game, does it mean game reviews are pointless today? ;)

But in this case, SWTOR must have some really impressive gameplay for there to be nothing breaching the NDA. Where are all the reveals that come from some people, haters of -  games, players, devs, companies, political opponents, mom and dad, jobs , bosses etc...?

It's pretty hard to spoil warcraft gameplay.  Or the usual MMO grind.  Timesinks?  Moneysinks?  Really I think the NDA is just to keep story spoilers from getting out, as that's about all it's got going for it.

If it is awesome, it will be the highlight of the year (and let's admit the year has been pretty awful).

If it sucks, then you will laugh in amusement at how Bioware wasted their money and 6 years of development to make the biggest flop in history.

I see this as a win/win either way.

I'm willing to dish out 60 bucks to see how this turns out.  Nothing on the horizon has me even slightly piqued for the duration of this year.  BF3 and Skyrim are really just more of the same for me, and a snoozefest at that.

You forgot to add in your monthly fees of 15 bucks to that 60 bucks....or 150 bucks if you got the CE.  :)

Good luck with swtor. And the negative feedback pre-launch will simmer down. Its just people angrily waiting for the release.

If they don't like it, which I doubt, since it is clear what the game is about, they will move on or not even bother getting the game. Which means after launch people will know what swtor is about, and mostly enjoying the game.

Its set and done. People normally dont complain after that point.

Post-release is going to be really interesting to watch.  I doubt it will simmer down.

Of course I love Star Wars.  No game is going to change that.  Well, I love the first three, anyway (in release sequence, before anyone pretends to get confused).  The latter three...not so much.  I also learned the finer points of romantic banter from Han Solo and Princess Leia.  Strangely, I've never married.   -.-

I agree and that's what I'm doing. I'll pass any and all judgements on SWTOR after I've played it for a while. In the end though I'am a fan, my car has the SWTOR sith logo on it and I wear shirts all the time with both Empire and Republic logos (my wife is sick of them). I agree however, I'm just sitting back at this point and enjoying the ride... in a way it feels unreal that their is a launch date.

I've played the closed beta. Am I allowed to have my own opinion or do i need to wait until launch?  Just curious.

Unless the NDA changed recently, the only thing you can disclose is that you are in the beta.

Honestly I could care less if you buy it or dont buy it, I am just tired of the direction of the industry as a whole.

As a PC player, sick of paying for MMOs dumbed down for console play.

As a real gamer sick of MMOs designed for casual players.

As a pvp gamer sick of pvp being shoved into warfronts or small designated areas, with rules and limits.

As a gamer with a high end system, sick of MMO's being built to be played on 10 - 15 year old computers.

As a dreamer,  sick of the lack of forward progress in game design and concept.

As an explorer, sick of linear designed games.

As a crafter, sick of crappy unfunctional crafting systems tossed in with no thought.

As a fighter, sick of boring same old same old push button combat.

As a individual, sick of the lack of customization and individuality.

You aren't alone. I feel the same way. When i even mentioned SWTOR to my friend today he just said "Well it's just WoW with Bounty Hunter tanks". I am not very happy with the coming "new" games.

Your are absolutely right. In fact stoped listening to any speculation and creticism about the release date was announced. It's nice to discuss coming game once in a while, but when my preorder done and release date set there isn't much left to do besides wait for a little while. I will like this game or not no matter what anyone says.

    Few things if I may,

First episodes I-II-III really sucks. Seriously: Anakin was born like Jesus, then the force is due to living organisms, there's also JarJar... and finally we learn that the most frightening Sith Warrior of all times was a clueless and stupid cry-baby adolescent?

That being said, it's sad to see how much BioWare copied Blizzard versus their initial vision: no boss kiting, nor trinity system to end will all the previous down to bigger shoulder pads than what you can find in Wow.

Also publishing a SW game with such a dumbed down single player space combat is disappointing.

More disturbing is they aren't even able to have Pazaak at launch!

As closure try to feel heroic using your precious lightsaber as glowing bat in a Huttball game.

It will be a good MMO, but somebody somewhere lacked the balls to make a great MMO. They simply wasted 50% of their $120 millions.

if the world had nothing but 100% honesty and no spin-doctoring you would have just copy/pasted that list off product details :(

Personally though, i DO care that people buy over-hyped products though..they keep game developers lazy and believing their customers are just brainless sheep
