I thought it was only for a month at max that each tester was allowed to test??
With maybe a call back for a second time, but not months at a stretch.
Not for me my squadron (238) has been going for quite a while now, think we're on our third testing build so far.
Squadron 14-610 here. The 1st to have free roam of the game. We are on our 7 or 8 build. Have come a long way. Our 1st build only had content to level 30.
Not wanting to spoil the entire game, I have only leveled Trooper and IA past level 10 multiple times.
Don't worry pony, I'll just wait until you're bored, you're waiting for something to spawn, and then *WHOOOM WHOOOM* Of course knowing my luck, none of your characters will be Dark Pony, and there will be more than one PVP server... sad possiblities
You'll likely find me on EU's most populated rp-pvp server. Look for angry people shouting about how their sand carrots were stolen in the Tatooine FFA area. ^_^

Yeah, those BW jerks hosed me. I've only been levelling the classes I didn't expect to want to play. I thought IA would be one of them, but the story sucked me in. Now all that's left is the Trooper, and I'm digging the crap out of that one, too. :P

Just wait til' you get to the sugar cube mine on Hoth...
I don't know how you guys stay interested knowing you're going to lose all your progress, that's why I avoid beta's entirely these days.
But glad to see that the long term appeal is strong, makes it likely I'll enjoy it when I finally join the world.
Pretty much where I am right now, and why I've played skyrim for over 120 hours so far.. I want to play SWTOR but can't go through another wipe. I think most of the testing is pretty hammered out, just waiting for high level tests now.

around august(maybe earlier) they decided to start keeping testers till launch. thats why im still in general testing. and i have to agree with masked, a bit of pain to have to keep relvling with each new build but atleast it has given the chance to see the pluses and minuses of both agent ACs XD
edit: ah i probably should have read the rest of thread and here i thought i was lucky for when i got in XD

I can't tell you the size of my smile when reading that last bit.
I for one am so tired of all these other "new games" with these matchbook sized zones and nothing to show for them. The fact that Bioware intentionally made the zone huge says to me they are planning on doing something like FFXI did where they made huge zones and adding in many things as the game progressed.
If you look at FFXI today, one of the major reasons it was so popular over time is that it held lots of launch 'zone' space that they were able to add many things to over the years.
Starting with games like Rift with teeny midget sized zones, they have to make a new zone which means the older zones are already dying out because people got bored of them because of the size.
Very good review. After playing during the recent beta weekend I had to force myself to log off because I did not want any more spoilers. It was difficult to say the least. I played a couple of characters to lvls 3-6 and had to log off so I could get full enjoyment when the early access starts.
Originally posted by Wharg0ul And I can finally post here again...hehehe. Been playing closed beta for months. Have leveled a Marauder, Juggernaut, Assassin and Power Tech BH to mid 30's - 40's. The game is goddamn FUN. It is like a good book that you can't put down. This thing will devour your life. Yeah, it's got a few flaws...but I fully expect those to be addressed in the future (can we say...entire re-write of the space combat system?) I've tested on PVP servers (FUN!!!) and PVE servers. I will definately be rolling on a PVP server at launch. The world PVP once you get to Nar Shadda and beyond is a blast. There's nothing like running a quest with a group and running into a group of republic scum, and having a battle break out that lasts for the next hour or so. Or being solo, and finding out how many of them you can kill before they finally take you down. I'll tell you straight up...the first couple worlds feel kind of small. This would be specifically the starting planet for each class, and then the faction capital for each side. After that, it slowly starts to open up. Nar Shadda seems endless....Tattooine seems like it wants to be bigger than it is, and by the time you get to Alderaan you're going to be bitching that it takes too long to get anywhere because the place is so massive. But one of the things that really keeps me playing is the combat. It's fast paced (no whacking on the same mob for ten minutes), and you do feel rather bad-ass when you mow down a dozen mobs, or solo an elite with perfect timing and combos. But don't let this fool you.....get careless, and you are dead. In fact, this game seems to excel at waiting until you're entirely too comfortable, and then reminding you that you are mortal. Yeah, this is a themepark game....in the strictest sense of the word. But for some reason that doesn't seem to bother me. Maybe it's because I am so wrapped up in the stories, and the black-hole immersiveness that I forget that I'm playing a game. The mechanics seem transparant (especially since I use a Razer Naga mouse) and the real world just disappears. So....after months of testing, I can honestly say that I'm not burned out, and don't expect to be any time soon. In fact, I'm just looking forward to launch so I can finally stop having to re-roll every build
i have also been testing for last like 4 builds and also agree with this. some of the bugs can be annoying but every new mmo has them.
it really does simply come down to this......if you don't have a problem with it being "themepark" and a linear mmo, then you will love this game.
if you don't like that then this is not your game, its as simple as that.
and yes, this is the first game that will take substantial subs away from wow if the launch is done right, at least in north america and Europe.
I played in a weekend testing event and really enjoyed the game execpt for a few minor annoyances around the way skills and the global cooldown work.
I could never figure out how to queue up skills for once the Global Cooldown TImer expired. This meant you ended up spamming the same button over and over again until it went off which put me off a bit. There is no auto attack either which I am fine with but there should be at least a single queue so you don't have to mash buttons.
If they fixed that and add a indicator to tell you which ability is queued (it might be in already I am not sure) I will be very happy with the game. Even if they don't it's still worth playing it's just that the lack of a skill queue seems out of place in a otherwise very polished game.

I too have been in beta for some time (3 builds on a PvP server exclusively) and I loved it. In fact, had this game been an SOE game, it would have been released last January.
I love the combat, love the stories, realize space isn't a main feature and am thrilled I pre-ordered it.
I only got to play it for a weekend, so my opinion of it is still really up in the air. First thing I noticed was, I needa new gfx card haha.. Anyone have any suggestions?
I couldn't decide what to play so I tried to dabble in every class over the weekend so obviously I didn't get far in any. The one I played most and got furthest in was SIth Inq., I got to level 10. I was just starting to get into it and then the beta ended. I can't really say that's far enough at all to form a real opinion, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to gravitate towards the Sith classes first because I found their society interesting and fresh for me.
I really enjoyed making light side choices as a Sith and watching them bewildered by my actions. haha. It was tough to not torture that guy near the beginning.

This paragraph about sums it up for me... I've no interest in themepark MMOs. I also have a naga and I predict extremly boring combat mechanics. No interest in TOR..its been confirmed :-)

the combat is the least boring combat of any MMORPG that I have played. It's fast, and tactical at the same time.
And as far as people complainging about not being able to pre-click abilities....why would you want to?? Timing is so very important in this game. Things like rocket juggling (yeah....my BH is mean ) wouldn't be possible if the combat system played like your average MMO.
Been testing since early August and have to agree with Whar on pretty-much everything. It's a hella-fun game and although I have focused mainly on Trooper, Bounty Hunter, Jedi Knight, and Sith Inquisitor, I have 'tasted' all of the other classes and I can tell you they are all Delicious. Combat feels nice and fluid and is alot of fun. Performance (lag and framerate) are pretty good too...
can anyone tell me now if I can make a fat character?
Sorta.
They don't currently have a body type that has like a beer belly, for example. But one of the body types could be best compared to a football defensive lineman that's kinda let himself go...
But as I said before, they do NOT have enough body types, IMO. It's probably one of the biggest complaints I have.
Yes gamebreaker can show you how. They have some really round toons in this class race video : )
I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

LOVING the fact that they don't have auto-attack.
It ought to make PvP more fun and tactical in the same stroke. DCUO weened me off auto-attack games despite my resistance but now, I wouldn't go want future mmos to have auto-attack if I had a choice.

I agree about the auto attack. I thought I would miss it but I did not and really like the way combat felt in TOR.
