First Skyrim Patch Details

firefly2003firefly2003 Member UncommonPosts: 2,527

Bethesda has released details on the first major performance patch for The Elder Scolls V: Skyrim.

As noted on the Bethesda blog, patch v1.2 improves a number of issues, including the texture loading problem plaguing Xbox 360 versions and the PlayStation 3 bug that would cause the game to chug as your save file grew.

The patch is currently available for PlayStation 3 owners in Europe and should be hitting North America soon. The update is planned to go live on Xbox 360 and PC on November 30.

Below is the list of fixes being implemented in this patch for all versions unless otherwise noted:

  • Improved occasional performance issues resulting from long term play (PlayStation 3)

  • Fixed issue where textures would not properly upgrade when installed to drive (Xbox 360)

  • Fixed crash on startup when audio is set to sample rate other than 44100Hz (PC)

  • Fixed issue where projectiles did not properly fade away

  • Fixed occasional issue where a guest would arrive to the player’s wedding dead

  • Dragon corpses now clean up properly

  • Fixed rare issue where dragons would not attack

  • Fixed rare NPC sleeping animation bug

  • Fixed rare issue with dead corpses being cleared up prematurely

  • Skeleton Key will now work properly if player has no lockpicks in their inventory

  • Fixed rare issue with renaming enchanted weapons and armor

  • Fixed rare issue with dragons not properly giving souls after death

  • ESC button can now be used to exit menus (PC)

  • Fixed occasional mouse sensitivity issues (PC)

  • General functionality fixes related to remapping buttons and controls (PC)

No mention of stability issues / memory leak and large address aware fix for PC V_V

After putting in 100+ hours my game has become pretty unstable with many random CTD's. In the Steam forums there's a big thread with people having the same issue.

An underwhelming patch I must say.

It's funny you say that because I just passed the 100 hour mark and for the first time I have noticed a couple items that did not have textures.  Also I had a ton of saves and when I would go to save it would laaaaaaaag, so I erased all but ten saves and I am now back to normal.

I have not had a single crash to desktop since the first day though, when i was fiddling with different graphical settings.   Framerates are smooth on high since then and the game is incredibly stable.  I haven't added any mods and am kind of afraid to start doing that because the game is running so well.

Well I still get random CTDs every time I play. I'm just used to pressing F5 every couple of minutes now.

Also some of the questline bugs are so irritating. I couldn't continue on with a few of them, like the Companions, so I've had to restart the game with a new character.

I must be the lucky on 40+ hours played & zero problems .. well unless you include arrows hitting the ground 2 inch in front of me sometimes  when it looks like I have perfect line of sight to the mob ..

Now i think of it read up on patch notes im dissapointed:(

I call this patch,... ''Bethesda_Skyrim_Don't care_No love for fans_Patch"...or is the patchnote list a short version and the crash to desktop is solved or the annoyig bugged quests that can't be finished solved?

With all your millions work on this damned you owe it to us your fans who buy your game.

Multi million dollar company who selling millions of copys and we get a small patch adressing some minor bugs, shame on you bethesda.

This game even after patch stay bugged specially for PC and i think it will take a while before next patch is comming:(

I hope it will fix the major bugs then i take it all back ok Bethesda :D

Still love this game but that don't mean im blind fan and won't express my discontent for lack of support. you should have tested the game alot more before releasing it Bethesda.

Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

I think its funny they say the dragons not attacking bug is rare. I'm to the point now I cant gather anymore souls/unlock shouts ect because not a single random encounter dragon is attacking. Through just over 100hrs on 4 diffrent characters I havent had a single random encounter dragon attack. I wouldnt call that rare lol.

Guess I am lucky. I run this game maxed out (PC). I have no issues, no crashes, no slow downs. I have not run into anything that was "odd"..

Well there was this one time when I came out of a building as a guard fell from..someplace .. at another building.

Guys... This is just the first 'Emergency post release patch'. Just the fact that they fixed this many things in two weeks with a holiday weekend thrown in is amazing. This game is HUGE and I don't envy them with the tweak and debug cycle they must have to go through with this much code. More patches will come but you have to be patient. These fixes take time to code and debug. A rushed patch can break more than it fixes in most cases.

Of all these problems, and I have just hit 102 hours, I CTD sometimes. I never have had any problems with quests, lag, glitches, etc. My graphics card is only a Radeon 6770, 8 gigs of ram, and a I7-920. I'm always betwen 30-60fps and i'm playing on Ultra with a few of the distance sliders down just a bit.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

They need to Nerf all forms of magery , they are ridiculously OP and make all the content in the game trivial.....the only way to make this game any challenge is on master and limit everyone to steel weapons and dont use magery .

How many hours of game time in a single player game would you consider for it be acceptable before complaining about bugs?

Well, it's a sandbox game so people can limit themselves if they want.

For instance I never use invisibility. same in Oblvion. it makes the game trivial as you say.

However, there are some people who might like the idea of being overpowered because they can become invisibility.

In any case, people can limit themselves on anything they want to make the game more enjoyable. Or use it if it makes the game more enjoyable.

Also, not everyone is in it for the challenge. Some are in it for the story elements. In any case, since some people think the game is hard and some think it's easy I suspect one's milage may vary depending on how they play.

If nobody raise his voice there will be no change no progress we would be stuck in some cave living like neanderthal:P

Ive even played 150 hours now and enjoying the game that dont mean im happy and dont see bugs. I dont silence about that, but that dont mean im hater or no fan of game lol

I crash few times a day i save alot so dont lose much but its a bloody annoying bug that should have been fixed with this patch.

And to other poster about patience i have patience that dont mean i can't be critical about game.

if you notice that, such as items being white, restart the game. I thought the same thing except I then noticed that when I restarted the game items would then show their textures.

100+ hours says to me that you've got your moneys worth. Most games are only 8-10 hours long.

It is such a big world and finding bugs takes 100's of hours of playing..give them a chance and credit for making such a brilliant game.

I am having the same problems and this patch is disappointing to say the least.  I was really looking forward to this game and all of the CTD's have made the game incredibly unenjoyable to the point of not playing.

I have been playing as a heavy armour, shield and sword warrior and tbh the difficulty is all over the place, sometimes you can chew through a whole army of creatures and mages, warriors and undead and dragons and your char would barely break a sweat, yet another time you can be faced with a single (non story boss) enemy thats almost impossible to defeat.

    Currently playing:

EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time)

    Gravity Rush,
    Dishonoured: The Knife of Dunwall.

    (Waiting for) Metro: Last Light,
    Company of Heroes II.
