FFS cant stop playing i loved my Jedi Guardian in beta, but Smugler is out of this world.
Regarding what is missing with the game, y i agree there is some basic stuff that needs to be added, and it isnt gamebreaking if they change it ofc, ( wich they will it is Bioware for ffs) but other than that the game is just awsome, i have the same feeling that i had 7 years ago when i started playing WOW.
I agree with OP, this game is awesome and very addictive. If I wasn't at work, I'd be happily playing right now. Damn it... Can't wait for the weekend.
FYI haters, WoW had weak story and raids/pvp for end game. How long did people pay/play WoW? Years, that's the answer. TOR is better than WoW IMO and will be wildly successful now and for years to come.
I've been playing SWTOR and Skyrim back and fourth. Not sure how this is going to be changing everything? Maybe a bunch of crappy F2Ps will shut down, from people leaving, and the industry will go through a cleansing process...
TOR will catch on because most gamer nerds generally love star wars lol. Your right though, TOR won't change a thing for the genre. In fact its making it worse off then it already was...
Didn't save SWG now did it?
As for this...
You might have a valid point if SWG had been shut down due to lack of subscribers. That wasn't the reason at all.
All I gotta say is, i'm addicted and they got me. Uninstalled WoW, unsubed, and been playing for two days. It's awesome. Great job Bioware. You did it. Finally an MMO that will give Blizz and others a run for the money. Ok, bacvfvk to playing.
I'm ready to hit my 4th planet, and it does not feel MMO.
You can say that on any MMO. All mmo's you can do solo for at least teh first half of your gaming. You choose not to particpate in the MMO functions. Don't hate a game for having options.

Actually it was a lack of subscribers taht closed SWG. If SWG was so popular they would have not shut it down.

Actually it was shut down because Lucas Arts didn't want to renew their license with Sony. It was in an article a while back. Wish I could find it, I would post the link for you. But it had nothing to do with subscribers. And this is coming from someone who didn't like SWG
Can;t wait for all the haters to jump on the GW2 band wagon and get the heck out of the SWTOR forums. honestly you folks need to get a clue. People actually have fun in themepark games.
Oh BTW, I played GW2, all these "innovations" and this "revolutionary" game is not all that its cracked up to be. I just hope they can polish the game before release.
Don't get me wrong, I'm loving this game but it's not going to change much, if anything at all. Aside from a large voice budget this game stayed well within the lines and didn't take any real risks by deviating from the cookie cutter MMO formula.

What Bioware has done that may in fact have an impact on the industry is taken the "grind" out of leveling.
The story aspects make the leveling process almost painless.
And this is my fifth time though the game, after months of playing, so don't even give me that "oh yeah...well, give it a month" line.
I've said it before, and here I go again....there is NOTHING that could make the people on this site happy. They are determined to grip and pick apart ANY game, no matter how good it is.....so don't let them get to you OP.
I share your enthusiasm. SWTOR is a great game. Don't let this site poison your experience.
I deliberately stayed away from Beta testing, occasionally dip in here to see what the latest gripes are and ultimately am waiting to get back home on the 22nd to play the game. After everything I have read and seen I am still itching to play. No-one is going to take away this experience for me I like what I like and screw those who don't like it, I am big enough and old enough to make my own decisions.
OP - enjoy the game mate, you won't be alone and ignore the nay-sayers, if they all hate it so much they can leave. No-one is being MADE to play a bloody game! There will be enough of us left to have fun.
There's a major MMO blues and TOR just happens to come at this profitable time. The franchise is mythical to so many people, I believe it'll run its illusion for probably a long time.
But that hope is shutting down your critical thinking if you think something revolutiionary is just around the corner.
If you think the game has a nice story, go read The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell, then you'll know how to spot originality in stories.

Exactly. Thank you.
You SWG guys kill me. Sont chose not to renew the license. They had that option. Most licenses like that work this way. If SWG had enough subs and or F2P customers then Sony would have renewed. But they didn't.
Its not going to add or change anything in this industry. We're just along for the ride and then its on to the next attraction. It was decent but I didn't drop a bunch of money to build this nice rig and play a game that has the same old low grade look of older MMOs.
There is very little money in developing super high graphics MMOs. The average player does not have a $2000 computer. Hell, i'll bet many of them dont even have a clue what they do have.
I agree. If peeople are looking for a graphically intense MMO, then good luck. If they made one, the only people that would be plaing is the people who spend thousands on making their computer run Skynet. I think Blizzards success was to be able to play WoW on anything. Heck, you could practically play WoW on a 486DX.
Korean MMOs look better and are meant to run on lower end computers. So, there is no excuse.
This statement is so false, go play Aion and try to raid and you have to turn down your graphics to Atari 2600 quality in order to get a decent frame rate... All these ""realistic"" looking MMO's are power hungry and unless you have a high-end gaming rig your going to be playing with very low settings and even them most can't play...
If anything gets changed it's rather that it'll dump down the genre even more. The polish and quality of Swtor is ok for what it is...but gameplay wise Bioware lowered the bar.
There are many examples, but for this post lets only look at the crafting:
While other games at least had some weak crafting, there is none to speak of in Swtor -unless our expectations to the genre is already so low that we would call sending our companion to disappear for 3mins "crafting".
According to the gameworld being absolutely lifeless and Bioware shying any effort to at least place a bird into the sky or a fly on the wall so to say, by what i saw in the beta there also aren't any spawns of ressources to collect. Instead of bothering the clone wars kids with collecting stuff, again you send your companion to disappear for 1-3 mins and get material out of thin air.
Yes, I can already see what's changed here, but it's certainly not for the better of the genre.
As I laugh, when all those who complain about the graphics, etc, etc. Enter their litter boxes or shiny new theme parks, and devote millions to grinding npc who will say?but it shines and is a very nice, hahahaha, have 128-bit graphics and hyper realism, hahaha.
I'm enjoying the game for what it is, is a great game and fun and gives me time to spend with my friends

Lol.
TOR will change nothing.

I like the game SWTOR. It makes me happy. The End
I can't see it changing much, but I hope there are enough people that enjoy it
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
What exactly will it change? That every game is required to have VO's?
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
end game just isnt raiding for gear

An mmo doesnt live just from the quest story. A lot more content needs to be offered than that.
It's like Rush Limbaugh started playing MMOs. Just insert liberal instead of SWTOR and genre for country.

So yeah, it's not nearly as black and white as you think.
And for the record, I haven't been a "SWG guy" since before the NGE, so I hold no loyalties to the game - I'm just pointing out fallacies.
