Getting bored of this game - sadly....

LashleyLashley Member UncommonPosts: 587

This isn't flaming as I love SW and really enjoyed this game at first, but now the game is boring the hell out of me now, I don't know if it's just Nar Shadar but there is no variety in quests. They're all go here and kill this. Tiresome.

yup, it's an mmo. I'm trying to take my time with it since I know I usually lose interest once I start grinding through the content.

Here's a little tip:  Play casually and make new friends.  When you just solo all the time, any game will become boring no matter how compelling it is.

Yeah, what did you expect? In previews and reviews it was clearly stated that VO and presentation mask the lack of variety in quest design. I don't know if you do it, but skipping dialogue kills most of what makes SWTOR exceptional in the genre.

    Edit: typos

I do both, I'm in a new guild with new guys making new friends. It's the fact all the quests are the same thats boring me.

Damn brah, I noticed you actually heavily supported the game, right? If so this is interesting.

It's also good that I wasn't the only one who thought this when playing in OB.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

Yeah I did. I'll still play as I bought the game and I've got my free month, but I'm unsure if I'll sub.

Me and a friend are taking turns with empire/republic. Force users on empire and gunners on republic. We also aren't rushing and taking the story seriously like a interactive movie. So far so good.

Everything I say is my opinion or personal preference. You may or may not find it useful to your cause but regardless I am entitled to it.

im on nar shadda and loving it. I love as an inquisitor having to take out a krayt gang, i love as world quests having to take out the exchange, only to piss off the hutts and make a decision on the imperial agent that gave me the quests

i am having a blast on nar shadda, so i guess its all in what u like to do. I for one listen to all the dialouge haven never done it before.

Hell its an mmo if u arent kiling stuff waht do u want to do? WAter a watermelon patch, harvest metals on a timer? Dance for omoney in a bar for 10 hrs straight

just saying in an mmo u kill shit . There are mmos u like ff14 where u have alternate leveling avenues or sandbox games where u can be an entertainer but most themepark games u level by killing stuff.

My observation is that most quests are the same across all MMOs. The difference is in presentation.

All MMORPG's are currently repetetive grindfests because we make them that way. When we charge blindly through content in 8-16hr marathons we put pressure on these companies to pump out more grind. When we complain that there is nothing to do at cap they slow progression. When we complain that it takes too long they nerf the system. When we complain that they are over-reactive to the vocal minortiy they stop listening. When they stop listening subs fall off.

New game comes out. Rinse. Repeat.

it gets more fun on tattoine cuz its more open world

  • jadedlevirjadedlevir Member Posts: 628

A couple things. Quest aren't all kill x quest in all mmos. I mean jeeze...in runescape the quest were puzzles and little storylines. If they can make better quest in java, your telling me some AAA company can't? This isn't directed at swtor, but "all themeparks have crappy quest" really isn't an excuse.

And a even easier solution: get rid of quest and make a new advancement system.

Sure, it's an MMO, but there's just something about TOR that feels slower and more monotonous than most other MMOs.  I've tried to figure it out, maybe its the combat animations, weak sound effects, or whatever, but I really don't know.  I even had a lot more fun with Rift's combat, in spite of macroing all my attacks to a single key.  And WoW's, despite it having almost no animation at all, by today's standards.  Or Aion's, which is your very generic stand-in-place hotkey repetition, but still, felt a lot more entertaining.

For me, that's what makes this game feel so boring.  Something about the combat just feels extraordinarily dull, not that it's a generic MMO, or that the quests are too repetitive, etc, etc.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

The key to enjoying this game is to not rush.  Play every level as if it was the level cap, enjoy it.  Otherwise, the dialog and voice overs will be tedious no matter what you do.  Get into your character for once.  Actually, RP either in your head or in your ingame conversations.  I've been having a blast on my BH, just hit Balmorra.  Took a break for now so I don't burn myself out.

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Not all my quest is kill stuff eitther in tor. Most of them are talk to this person, destroy wapons caches, REcover stolen data, Interupt a meeting with republic and exchange,  Steal a cult from the darth u need an artifact from,

The killing just happens in mmos as there are mobs in yoru game. Only way to get rid of kiling things is to make areas with no npc mobs that attack u.

Most of my quests arent actually kill x or y, Sure those pop up and i usually complete them getting to my actual objective but my actual quests are not kill this kill that.

You're probably not alone in this situation, because this has happened to me countless times in other MMOs. I'm bored to tears of every MMO already out and screaming for the new release and when it arrives, I play so much at first, I start to burn myself out on it.

Granted, I'm playing with 3 very close friends of mine, the game hasn't gotten to that point yet. SWTOR is a new type of MMO too, it's not anything like AoC which was a combat heavy MMO. BioWare states the end-game PvP is to die for, but we'll see. Once I reach 50 and get settled in, I'll know then if a heavy story driven MMO is the new era in our genre.

Hope things take a turn for the better for you.

    thanks

Your prolly just feeling what many are wanting, something innovative and new mechanics.  Which SWTOR does provide a very solid MMO and if you'll accept the same mechanics that MMOs have put forth the past 2 decades then it's good.  However many are wanting a revamp of an MMO design which is not what SWTOR is and your better offf with GW2 or perhaps TSW.

Well that's uncalled for. Just beacause some people like something you don't, doesn't make them "FTARDs".  Sure some people will like it and some will not. How is that any different from any other game?

BW createed what they said they would, so either play it or don't. I'm sure the world will keep going either way.

Thats ok those that like tor have been dealing with this sentiment since day 1. We are retards, we are simple minded, We shouldnt be allowed to pick our own games the list oges on and on

They know better then us , its a tired old argument those like me that love this game have been dealing with since day 1

Teh issue with those that want new mehanics is they dont want an rpg, Sorry u dont, Rpg mechanics are the same in mmo's and single player games

U guys want mechanics like dodge and parry to be manual like a fighter game or fps mechanics. Those mechanics change the game from an rpg to a fighter or fps game.

If u wanna to play an rpg there are certain mechanics u will find in all fo the. Just like halo, and all other fps game share the same basic mechanics.

Im tired of the we want innovation crowd actling like rpg fans cause they arent., The truth is when u want a game to have fps or fighter mechanics in your rpg it ceases to be an rpg,

Oh and before u say why are u on here then. Im waiting for lunch and dont want to get into fighting mobs or something and have to stop so im not playing at the moment .

Once ive had lunch then ill go play some more.
