*IF* this game was Buy-To-Play, I might be inclined to goof around in it until GW2 or The Secret World launches, but I cannot justify paying $15 per month for a game that feels so aged and boring. The days of subscriptions for AAA games are going out the door anyway, especially since they can't deliver us anything but 'more of the same'.
I can see paying for a sub to support a niche game if they are trying hard to go the extra miles on features and gameplay. I have no problem with that. I have no sympathy for AAA game developers with virtually unlimited funding who can't even make a unique game anymore.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
What you are saying is that you have a preference for sand-box type MMOs? I respect that. However, it does not make SWtoR less of an MMO. It just makes it an MMO that you do not have a preference for. When it comes to SWtoR, what I do like is the abundance of group quests from very early on. WoW does not dare them anymore since they would...force people to collaborate!
abundance??? in Beta i got to Coruscant by myself, did all side-quests, read everything. What abundance of group?
I'm just saying that to call TOR an MMO, and a good one, is like saying that pizza is good because it tastes like hot dog.
TOR is a good MMO becaus it's not MMO, it's good because you play it mostly solo. That is not an opinion, it's fact. This way you're killing the aspects that truly belong to it, massivity, multiplayer, persistancy. TOR has entirely no sense of persistancy, there's not a system that gives life to its world, economy, politics, military.
You have no idea about the the game, so why are you writing about it then?.
I will gadly pay 15euros or whatever the sub is for this game, but i tell u know, i wont be playing GW2 if it being free. But i can give you a hint, dont play the game if you dont like it, because a free game will have no updated content or any decent content, yes even gw just wait and see, i pay for SWTOR because i expect BW to go thru with their part or the agreement, wich is Content update with regularity.
I lol at this, some people need to do there research before making comments about games they obviously know nothing about.
woah Sylvarii must be time traveler to know GW2 WILL produce content regularly at the same pace as a P2P game! Tell me who wins the next election!?
Hey guess what guys, once again I notice that the haters, they are infact going to hate.

I rarely do anything solo, in fact past the 3rd planet its kinda hard to do any quests without help.
But yeah i've played the entire thing with my two room mates so far, very very very fun game to play with friends in a group setting, so i'd have to say your claims of it being a single player game is simply a lie.
The game is decent as a free to play type game. But it is not an mmo its more of a single player RPG with some chat thrown in. Who is actually willing (Be honest) to pay $15 dollars a month for a game not worth one penny???
You're talking to a guy who paid $300 for a scantly clad statue of Darth Talon. Some people just appreciate Star Wars a litte more than others I guess. People paid $15 a month to play Star Wars Galaxies, despite it being a seemingly dead game for half a decade; so, your question doesn't really need to be asked if you just look at the obvious behavior of people.

Oooh, 2 room mates. MMMmmassive. What else? Oh yah the chat channel. But lemme guess, you turned it off. And with good reasons. How is this game any different from Neverwinter Nights? you didn't call that MMO just because all quests had to be played in separate servers. But in practice, in facts, is it any different?
Bah, it's a pointless argument anyway. Who cares that TOR is just not an MMO?
The important thing is that it fails and bankrupts EA, because they're evil.
I would and will. And I'm not a star wars fan at all. my knowledge of star wars pretty much consists of darth vader is lukes father.
That said this MMO is the best I've played since probably Guild Wars (mmoish game) and WoW back in the day and FFXI before that. It's only been out for a week and it's very stable and fun considering. Some of the reasons i like the game.
1) Yes the quests are the same as any MMO but they hide it well by making a much more interesting story.
2) The community (at least on my server) is by far the best since FFXI.
3) The graphics and settings are fun. In each world is new and different.
4) The story is much more interactive. Regardless of how much I really effect the game I'm not sure, but at least I feel like I am in control of my actions.
So alas.. I will gladly pay to play this game for the foreseeable future. I"m having a blast for the first time in a LONG time. Having tried almost every MMO out there I was starting to feel pretty jadded.. but this has gotten me excited all over again. Sure it's not for everyone.. no MMO is.. but everyone MMO is for someone so remember that too.
The game is decent as a free to play type game. But it is not an mmo its more of a single player RPG with some chat thrown in. Who is actually willing (Be honest) to pay $15 dollars a month for a game not worth one penny???
Given how big this game is I'm willing to pay more than the standard $50 or so for this game so that covers a few months sub. On top of that as long as BIoware keeps new content coming I don't see a issue with spending $15 a month on it. I think of it as prepaying for DLC content with the MMO features being a bonus.
The bottom line for me is if Bioware keeps content coming at least as well as Rift I'll probably keep paying a sub for it. If adopt the WoW model of little to no content between expansions than I will probalby not pay a monthly fee for it. The real question is "After seeing how companies like Rift can release content even on a smaller game why would anyone pay $15 a month for a game like WoW that only releases free new content a couple times a year?"
abundance??? in Beta i got to Coruscant by myself, did all side-quests, read everything. What abundance of group?

I don't agree with it being a SPRPG but anyway my question would be: Aaaaand?
Why should you care? Why do you hate BW? What's to you if people are happy playing this game?
Is that what you're looking for in this thread? Not sure why you would make it. Although I'm convinced that Blizzard, in it's billions of dollars, is not above trying to come to forums like these, and hire people to just trash it's competition.
Blizzard has nothing worry about when it comes to this game.If Bioware can get the players to pay for this game then good luck to them. The people who do pay deserved to be ripped off, just goes to show how gulible some people are.
They are gullible for paying for something they enjoy? Someone has a bloated sense of the importance of his own opinion of games.

We've ran four flash points, pugged the 4th member from general chat each time.
Thanks for being totally wrong, a completely judgmental and assuming person. :-D
edit: From how venomous you sound did the game steal your girlfriend or something? Tor IS an MMO, a better one than has been released in years, TBH it wasn't even on my radar until a month before launch, and now honestly I cannot see myself playing another MMO. This has won!
So keep your hater / snide / assumptions to yourself.

Already got 3 month sub rolling.... after that I will see. I never stick to one MMO for longer than 6 months no matter how amazing it is. I love taking breaks and return to it when ever i feel like.

Brilliant addition to a fine thread. I think my IQ has dropped from reading this thing.

Especially since Allods is probably the best themepark on the market and it's free. I can't justify a montly sub for what I could get for free, unless you just have to have lightsabers.
Why? It's single player game, why would I pay every months for that? I have other games I got for 20$ or less with more hours of fun and I can play them when ever I feel and for free.

Yes i would, but the problem is that when you have made a mistake by choosing an advance class then you cant redoo it.
And he's lvl 27 and i dont want to do another consualr simply because ive been there done that with the class.
