The game in general sucked for me. Worst 60 dollars I ever spent. Why? Mostly how it looks. WoW is more fluid in animations!!! Along with that, while I do enjoy a story, the stories can get VERY annoying in dungeons where more than 60% of time is spent talking instead of fighting.
I never got to PvP, and from what this article says I'm glad I didn'.t
I'd seriously advise NOT buying this game until the trial comes out and then seeing if you truly enjoy it.

Thats funny considering the only flashpoints with any real amount of talking is the level 10 one that republic/empire do first.
Just accept that MMO PvP will always suck, log off and open up your favorite FPS. There, that's better isn't it? No tokens, no stun locking, no lasers following you around corners. Just one man(?) and his hitbox.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy. ______________________________ "This kind of topic is like one of those little cartoon boxes held up by a stick on a string, with a piece of meat under it. In other words, bait."
Did people actually expect the PvP to be any good?
This. There was some fool trolling at launch about how everyone was leaving LOTRO for TOR because the PVP in LOTRO sucked. I guess his point was that people were leaving one PVE game for another to do PVP?
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
Many of the problems can be boilded down to a few things.
1. There are more empire than republic on all servers. The only Empire vs empire pvp is hutt ball. People hate hutt ball.
2. Everyone rolled a DPS spec. This game is rock, paper, scissors. Most people roll scissors and now say rock is overpowered.
3. Lack of open world PvP.
I will say before ending this, that I do like the game and play it. And am currently not thinking about not playing it.
And then Bioware is working in a update to fix lots of problems that the PvP have now, even better when that patch is already on the pts. Yes, the pvp community was really mad about the pvp in tor, but not anymore because we will get what we want and soon. Dear OP, you can check this link, http://www.swtor.com/blog/new-year%E2%80%99s-pvp-update Bioware 1 - haters 0
I have had no problem with PvP in Tor. Sure I get my ass stomped into the ground as soon as they see me launch a heal, but I expect it. The games are quick and fun, and on occasion (I play republic), we get some pretty impressive wins. No issue here. The new lvl 50 bracket will make things a little easier on the ol death count, but again, I have no issues.
If you want a single player RPG, you don't play a fucking MMORPG, oh wait, SWTOR, right.
Now, let's be serious here, if we were talking exclusively about esports mmorpg PVP, i would agree with you.
But PVP in MMORPGs is so much more than just COD PVP, (sieges, politics, teritorial control, resources)..
Obviously you would know that if you ever played an MMO with good PVP, so it's not your fault, i forgive you
Bioware hyped the PVP of this game, and it sucks, it's ok, you don't have to defend it just because it's " your game".
The problem being those styles of PVP are much more time-consuming, often with tedious AFKable activities, and then the actual PVP payoff at the end is an incredibly one-sided affair.
So for most players they're a complete joke. More time investment with less gameplay/decisionmaking.

Someone doesn't know how to write organic native macros. My fingers may be clicking the keys, but my brain is trying to bargain with the devil for more rts pvp features, when I was ulting for a penta kill of your whole team, I didn't even consciously understand why you were crying and claiming "h4CK!!!!!!!!!!!1111SSSSsss!!!"
I've spent some time pvping at 50 now so I recon I've an idea of what I'm talking about.
First off the warzone maps are great, I really enjoy Huttball and find its mixture of team play, traps and other goodies to be great. A good premade versus premade makes for a fantastic 15 minutes so long as you don't get stomped. Voidstar is like a better Strand of the Ancients, focusing players into the combat areas faster and avoiding scrubs wandering off looking for kills. Alderaan is pretty much a three point cap system that's made well enough. So in my opinion the maps themselves are pretty good.
Now the class balance is problem number one, a geared 50 gets all of the stats his gear affords him. A level 10 gets all the stats his gear affords him. The 50 gets talents ontop of that and skill ranks. Long story short two equally skilled players with the same class and the geared person will destroy the 10.
Every class gets several stuns and some kind of movement control as in knock backs and pulls/pushes. It does work nicely in Huttball but the stuns are the problem. The game has diminishing returns done in a really stupid way. I can stun someone up for 6 seconds, then mezz then for another 8 seconds, then root him. Only after all this will he be full on his resolve bar and immune to these effects. It isn't uncommon to be stunned into oblivion by two people and unable to react. The Sith Juggernaut Immortal spec alone has about 4 stuns one friendly charge and an enemy charge.
Next is the tab targeting, its garbage, it is truly a waste. Its usually hit or miss if you select the correct target.
Next is the responsiveness of abilities, I.E. there isn't any.
Lastly is the utter fail that is the rewards at 50, random chance is the name of the game. Each champion bag drops either 3 badges or 1 badge and a piece of gear. I am currently on my third belt piece. I bought a chest piece with 39 badges, then got another chest piece on drop.
I love PvP in swtor and there are few games I can say that about. The level boost really lets low level players compete with high level players effectively. I almost allways finish in the top 1-2 players despite starting at 11-19. This includes several one on one duels with lvl 50 players. You are at a huge disadvantage of not having as many stuns or inturupts, but you actually seem to have better output. Bounty hunters or troopers are the only high level classes I have a lot oftrouble with as an assasin and in hutball I go splat quickly if given the ball, but even on 2-1 fights I can almost allways kill one before being killed. The trick to it at low levels is to be sneaky and know when to attack or run for a pvp buff. She who starts combat on her terms wins.
A solo orientated, PVE heavy game with tacked on PVP
its's PVP is fairly good, MUCH better than say WOW & RIFT PVP wise
of course compared to proper PVP games like DAOC & EVE its PVP is poor.
Excuse me? Better then Rifts open world pvp with rewards and rifts designed to get people to fight each other. I have a TOR account, but you have to be screwed in the head to roll on a pvp server in TOR.
The game is missing even some of the most basic stuff and it took Bioware/Mythic a month to consider seperating over geared 50's in the same war fronts as lvl 10's was a good idea? Come on man.
How about Ilum pvp exploiting still going on with promises to fix it? Seriously you want to put these guys on the same level as Trion. Hell they nerf/buff with the best of them, but they can atleast fix exploits and punish people for doing it.
I'v not done open world pvp in tor, but i have done some instanced in beta, but i have serious people i know playing it, that i take seriously. But from the sounds of it the games sytems are not designed to promote accutal PvP. Been a prettymuch a PvE game players want to take the path of least resistance to GLORY. seems theres these open world "pvp" quests but its gone the way of warhammer and it just turns into BO swapping...looks like mythic have streamlined the process in TOR?
If the game systems dont promote PvP and accutall fight of eachother...you know...player vs player then the PvP is simply going to be ganking and BO swapping, I cant ever seen the PvP been good if its underlying gamesystems are not designed properly around it, yet alone the combat itself been rather medicore.
Looks like the last hope for a good open world PvP MMO now rests with SOE
