I will definitely be subbing as I am still highly enjoying the game.

I imagine I will be playing at least until GW2 comes out... which, as we all know, will be completely and totally innovative and literally perfect in every way and will revolutionize the industry in a way never before seen.

I plan on resubbing for awhile at a min 4 more months as I have two 60 day game cards.

OTOH, most people who quit a game, aren't going to hang around in forums, voting on polls about it.

You'd think so, but there have been plenty of people in this forum who either never played the game or who quit in beta and who have stuck around to keep bashing it and harping on how much they think the game sucks because it doesn't fit their standards.

    Yeah, I'm going to renew.

I'll be on a month-to-month plan, since I'm about to start my final semester of grad school and I don't know how intense my workload is going to be. Plus, I don't do long-term subs to MMOs anymore. I'm only going to play for as long as a game is fun. For now, SWTOR is still fun and interesting to me.

I remember the same thing in SWG. What made that place interesting is that there were people actually subbing on a monthly basis just to bash the game on the official forums, and this was long before the NGE debacle. Some people are just weird.

As for me, I'm having too much fun to stop subbing now. :)

The point you seem to be missing is that most people who quit a game aren't haters who bother going on forums and bashing the game.  Most people who quit simply don't like a game and leave quietly.  Most of them don't have any interest in the forums one way or another.  Of course there are exceptions, we all know that (hell, I'm one of them :p) but its besides the point.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    This.

I mean hell everyone is one sided on thought process, they usually think that there is a vocal minority of people who have issues. Or that the only people unsubbing are the ones on forums.

    It's possible it's both ways.

Oh and on topic I'll say that 4 of my friends that are playing plan on subbing until they hit endgame, or TSW,D3,AA, and GW2 comes out.

They might go back to Rift or WoW least that what one of mines said, but oh well.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

Vast majority of people do not visit mmo sites or fan sites when playing a game.

Vast majority of people who love SWTOR are playing it right now.   People who vote on this site are the ones who don't like the game, hence why they're on this site posting.

After reading MMORPG forums and articles for the past 5 years (even before I created an account), I've learned that this site has the most negative "community" in terms of hating on games than any other.

I'd take any poll on this site with a grain of salt.  On the flip side, the flames and nerd rages can be quite entertaining.

    Agreed

It actually was a lot more sandbox biased a few yrs back here on MMORPG.com

The site encouraged SWG players to come here when the NGE hit, and a number of them havent STFU yet. Luckily it has evened out a bit over the years, but just as this game has shown, any popular themepark will be attacked on this web site by those still clinging to hopes of a sandbox comeback.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

This site really discouraged me from coming anymore because of the general negativity on the boards it makes me unhappy with my hobby and it is contagious so I stopped visiting after awhile. Those that frequent here hate the type of game SWTOR represents because development for their type of game is not so hugely funded. They hope by continuously spamming negativity more money might be invested in the type of game they prefer that is with open PvP and free for all looting or other sandboxy stuff. What they fail to realise is by not supporting the genre less money will come in and the companies that might make the type of game they prefer just fade away.

For what is worth I am renewing although I am sure I am but one vote  .

SWTOR is far from perfect, so it's a good thing this is not a question of perfection.  Resub?  That would imply something changed.  I was subbed before and I am subbed now.

A lot won't redub, but a lot of those won't go back to wow either because it's not that good any more.  Most people I know who have left will either play TOR, or quit MMORPGs until something they like does come out

Are you implying the poster should leave?

That is the thing....this is supposed to be a site about all games, and yet some sandbox fans feel it is their right to spam this forum with their non stop bull shit. It doesnt occur to them that the folks that are playing would like to discuss the game, and not be subjected to their childish behavior.

Without themepark viewers, and the advertisers looking for their subs, this site would dry up. Sandbox fans cant support their own games, let alone a site like this.

The vast majority don't come to this or any forum period. It has nothing to do with whether they're playing the game or their love or hate for said game.

There are plenty of people that are actively playing this game right now.

From the poll itself seems like more than a few plan on resubbing as well. Least for another month anways XD

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

That's an interesting point. I don't agree with your last sentence, but I think you may be right in that there actually are a sizeable group of people who are overall unhappy and unable to enjoy MMO's right now that are visiting these forums, and in some sort of political or ideological agenda or out of sheer boredom bc of not having an MMO to play, visit here to trashtalk MMO's of the type they dislike. It does fit comments of a number of posters made, I've seen 2-3 actually state it like that, that they did the trashtalking for the reason you mentioned or bc they had an agenda.

That's ofc not all the critics, it'd be foolish to think that. But a vocal group of regular posters, yes, I think what you said may apply to them, yes.

Oh we'll get on with our lives when people stop claiming it's so fantastic that it cures cancers all across the world Especially review websites, magazines and shows. It's immoral and it's a money grab. That's why I'm on here speaking my mind, what are you here for?

that's okay if i can prevent some poor sap from wasting his money on this game i know i'll be able to sleep tonight. :) pity folks can't get on with their lives and let us help others.

Pretty sure the implication is: 'If you think this site is negative, try reading the SWTOR official forums.'  I.E. they're multiple times more painful to wade through.

    Playing:SW:TOR
    Played: A lot.
    Beta tested: Freaking everything.
    Looking forward to: Nothing.

I'll definitely be renewing.  For how long?  Remains to be seen.  As long as Bioware keeps adding in additional content, listening to the playerbase, and I don't get bored...I'll play.  I am still liking the game a lot.  There are issues, but not game breaking ones.  Really enjoying the immersive and social aspects of the game.  Met some nice peeps.

  • Hopscotch73Hopscotch73 Member UncommonPosts: 971

    Subbing..

And will continue to as long as the game is fun for me.

No idea how long that may be, but it's my approach to anyy game where I've enjoyed the first month.

As for the concerns about poll validity - the only people who'll know true retention numbers are at BioWare/EA, you can't blame folks for being curious enough about it to ask in a public forum to try to get some idea.

i have no inttention of cancelling my sub...yet. I'm still not sure how this game will turn out in the near future but i see no point in just quitting the game based on the current issue swtor is dealing with. The game is new and problems are to be expected. Now if they still have the same problems with the exception of class imbalances 6 months from now then i will not hesitate to cancel.

  • DojenDojen Member UncommonPosts: 134

Cancelling. Game is "same old same old" with nerw paint.

  • tzattzat Member Posts: 26

Just cancelled today, made it to level 38, had enough. No one was ever on my server either , always dead...not the reason I cancelled by the way
