I have no problem with fans coming here and posting their opinions/rants/rages. I have a problem when a compensated employee of a company comes to a forum to belitle, shamelessly hype a product and not discuss with the community, and in every other way act unprofessionaly... That I have a problem with.

i am just speachless mostly towards Henrik....the dude just doesn't quit.

the game, in almost 2 years, hasn't made a dime yet. the company is incredibly in debt. there are nothing but negative comments about the game pretty much everywere. the in game population is almost non existant, he has lost more hard core fans then the catholic church.......but the dude is STILL hyping the next patch like it's the next coming of jesus.

where does this guy find the balls?!

Remember today was the "extrodinary meeting" to get the stockholders to further dilute the stock to get more money because they have none.  I seriously doubt that the meeting and the announcment today were by accident.

please excuse me if not a frick is given.

a simple thing like spellcheck will not understand the difference between dying and dyeing so that is pretty much irrelevant. i think most of you are sad for coming on this forum while you want nothing to do with the game other than to bash it but picking on something as irrelevant as that is just beyond ridiculous

If you want to market a game in a different language then you better put some effort forward to either learning that language or getting people who do know the language. Putting that time/money into it shows respect for your customers

    That's called professionalism.

Furthermore, it's hard to trust in Heinrick as a CEO when his English resembles a 10 year old. That's called credibility.

Yes, damn straight they are very cool features.  I've been talking about them here for a little while now - it's lovely to finally see so much hard work that's been going on for such a long time finally announced.

It will be even better when it's released.

TC will be meaningful with taxation - and an awful lot of missing 'fluff' will go in.

So I think it;'s been a good day.  I know we're getting  negative comments here - but we'll press on as always and try to deliver something unique for our playerbase.  Looking at the MO forums there's an awful lot of excitiment.

I note that some of the suggestions from regular posters here are appearing in the next expansion.

The problem is quite simple.  SV has a pattern of over promising and under delivering.  Just look at your response.  You used the word "will" 3 times in 2 sentences...

I mean.. none of this stuff is in game.  The wonderful Gene system which was the big hyping point of the last expansion sounded great too.  But that hasn't been implemented yet either... Start to deliver on promises and then talk about how good the game actually IS instead of making promise number 100 that the game will get better in the future.

Well since I have access to SV coders and direct visibility of progres and you don't slapshot I'm pretty comfortable with that. That was an in-game shot of Tindrem you know... despite the suggestion it was a mock-up.  Funny.

To be fair, the beta screenshot of tindrem was also touted as "in-game" and "not a mockup", so you should be able to see where the skepticism is coming from.

  • deathshrouddeathshroud Member Posts: 1,366

just realised the picture of the clerus magika is an actual ingame screenshot and not concept art :)

    quite good looking.

i beleive that was never touted as an ingame screenshot slapshot. Just like that original trailer it was an in engine render. created using ue3.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

We've been fed "in-game" screenshots of Tindrem since alpha. So yeah, your words have litle value at the moment.

It is funny how some people resort to hypocritical statements of them "not caring", after engaging in the argument in the very first place. If you didn't care you would not bother to reply at all, covering your inability to support your claims is just poor style. But hey, I guess you don't give a frick about that either!

GMTheia, if you want to know why there is so much negativity and scepticism at the announcement of this new patch, then you only have to look at Henrik and the way he handles PR.

Every time a big update or new feature is planned, Henrik will hype it up, using copious amounts of hyperbole on how revolutionary it will be. We then expect something that will provide a unique experience in MMOs, and will have far reaching implications within MO itself.

What is then delivered, without fail, is a buggy and partially finished feature which has none of the impact we were lead to believe. That's assuming it even arrives at all, which is usually 50/50.

Examples include the gene system, which was supposed to have a game-wide impact on almost everything you do. What was delivered were horses with randomly generated stats. Even that didn't work properly, with some horses being freakishly large.

The revolutionary AI was promised back during the Epic patch, which Henrik claimed was just waiting for the new navmesh and would then be ready to go. 18 months later and finally they have something ready. Apparently.

The temperature system, what happened to that? Some others have mentioned writable books which were supposed to come with dawn.

The worst part of all though is how Henrik deals with the aftermath. The missing or partially finished features are forgotten about as he allows the topic to quietly die and announces something new instead.

We would respect him so much more if he just openly said "the gene system is only 10% done" or "the AI isn't anywhere near finished". We know SV is a small company and can't push stuff out very quickly. What annoys us is the fact that he is never honest about how complete a feature is and we are always left disappointed as a result. Why should this x-Pac be any different? After years of running SV, its clear he has learned nothing from past mistakes.

You are setting yourself up for failure when you make statements like "never before seen".

  • lectrocudalectrocuda Member Posts: 604

The psychology that seems prevalent on this site in relation to Mortal Online is to drive their failures in and make them feel as if they will never succeed.

That pretty brutal from people who alledgedly love the genre.

Nobodies perfect. Yeah Starvault has high hopes and talks of shooting for the stars, and yeah maybe they have underdelivered, but damn if you all aint some haters.

Imagine if parents talked to children like that.

    I say, see what happens.

As someone who has failed at life consistently for my first 21 years, only to turn things around overnight in one moment, only to turn them around again 11 years later, ready to turn them again. I can honestly say, things change, nothing is constant, and hating on people only creates an enviroment counter to creativity and progress.

If your spiteful, dont play, dont contribute, but is there really a reason to flame?

Im sure there have been a few games that started off flawed and turned out successful and fun, likewise theres been a few that did just the opposite. Keeping with that logic, anything is possible, lets see what they do, critique the product with real criticism and see what they can come up with again.

Likewise, you people from Starvault should listen to the community, although probably not this one, as it seems filled with jaded folks who cant seem to let things go.

    My pennies...love and peace

    PS

My issue with thegame was stagnant npc's and no map or sense of direction. That was a year ago though, so I might be back after this next release.

Thou dost protest too much. Even though dying and dyeing have very different meanings, a spell check and grammar checking program would be unable to distinguish the former from the latter.

Yes, I hope they won't succeed, since it would be a really bad example for the rest of the genre, that you can lie to your customers, cheat them, never release what you have promised and yet succeed.

That pretty brutal from people who alledgedly love the genre.

I don't follow your logic. Only because I like MMOs I should support thieves and liars? I don't think so. Maybe it is because of my love for the genre that I don't want this awful company being a part of it?

Nobodies perfect. Yeah Starvault has high hopes and talks of shooting for the stars, and yeah maybe they have underdelivered, but damn if you all aint some haters.

That gotta be one of the most backwards examples I've stumbled upon. What does disliking company that didn't deliver the promised product you paid for have to do with family relations? I guess the inability to see and admit mistakes does raise some hate among followers.

If your spiteful, dont play, dont contribute, but is there really a reason to flame?

    See my first responce.

I am being honest here, I sat and reflected on all the games I've been part of.. MO is the worst. Granted, I didn't participate in the fiasko Dark and Light was, thou..

Likewise, you people from Starvault should listen to the community, although probably not this one, as it seems filled with jaded folks who cant seem to let things go.

Duno, I guess it is part of human nature to try get back at something that screwed you over in one way or another. There are good reasons for some people not letting it go.. oh well, beats me.

My two cents as well. The above are just personal opinions about SV.

Thanks for pointing out the first one, wasn't aware that there is a proper word for referring to one of the things mentioned prior to it, so I guess it's a grammatical error there. As for thou, I disagree, it is a chat abbreviation for though, even if tho is lot more common. However my points remain, I expect better quality from a company and that cyde should know better than taking swing at something without proof.

  • dllddlld Member UncommonPosts: 615

Looks good but... things like this shouldn't be said without some video evidence, atleast not by SV it's just going to end up shooting them in the foot.

"bringing an entirely new level of challenge to adventurers."

"that is sure to surprise you, with incredible features never yet seen in an MMORPG."

"brings Mortal Online's user interface to a AAA level"

Atleast if these statements also came with a video or screenshot if possible (can't screen shot AI..) people wouldn't be hyped up to unreasonable levels and ultimately dissapointed later. Video proof would crush the overhype before it's created thus less dissapointment and potentially more subs..

Sorry but this isn't the hippie movement forums, it's a community of MMO gamers.

The gaming culture does not take kindly to failure, overhype, and bad games. It's an extremely unforgiving environment with an exceptionally long memory. It's mob justice in a way; developers that behave badly get treated badly - increasingly so when they keep proving that they even lack the skills to comprehend the reasons for and extent of their own failure.

So you've come to the wrong place if you expect charity, flowers and unselfish saints supporting higher ideals.

Well, that ain´t what he was saying either. That he want´s charity, flowers and saint like support. He, just as I, don´t get how someone can keep this momentum of hate towards a GAMING company. It´s not like SV molested a child, killing innocent people, wage wars on poor countries etc. They´ve made a freaking computer game!!! They had a dream, and still have a dream, to make something uinque. And even though they have failed in the passed etc, they still are learning, and they are getting better at what they are doing. Just as people deserve second chances sometimes, so does a small indie company like SV. But for some here it actually like they did molest a child and killed the childs parents. It´s hate towards has grown out of proportion. SOme here for sure needs to take a chill pill big as a hockey puck and just relax alittle.
